True Laser is one of the few places in Madison that offers true LASER hair reduction, because there are many places in Madison that claim to offer laser but really they do IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) which is less effective. The prices are very reasonable and through the research I've done they are the best in the area with the best technology. Personally, their services work well for me. I don't have to remove hair in the areas that have been treated--some fine hairs left, but not enough to be significant. I have gone there for quite some time because I've added more areas to be added for removing hair. However, as I've gone back more frequently, I have become disappointed with some aspects of their services. re: Clarity about their services. I wanted bikini line removal. Every tech seemed to quibble about how much would be "bikini line" removal would be. For example, I had about two hairs a little lower and some would quibble "oh, that's not within 2 inches". it's TWO HAIRS and I bought an entire package. Some told me "Our policy is 2 inches in for the bikini line" but excuse me for not using a ruler to measure my bikini line--and if they are really that picky about this, the first time you come in for a treatment, they shoudl take a ruler, measure 2 inches, and show you exactly how much hair they will remove. Also, at my last visit, they did something that turned me off. I got a bikini line hair removal touchup, and at my previous visits, they always gave me aloe vera to apply after the visit. This time they applied hyrocortisone cream, which is OK, but they gave me an ice pack to put on the area for a few minutes which was inside a folded paper towel. The ice pack was clearly not to take home but used by other clients. THat means they are giving you an ice pack covered with paper towel that has been near other people's crotches. No thanks. I'd go back here again because of the superior laser technology they have there but other parts are turnoffs. read more

This is a great place to go to get some "me" time in for yourself in a hurry. I've had the laser treatment done once as a trial and have decided that it's well worth the cost, however.... it's just not a necessity. I have no problem shaving my armpits. =) I've also had the microdermabrasion done. I must say, I wasn't impressed. Basically, its "exfoliation with a vacuum". No thanks! I'd rather scrub my face at home. I had a chemical peel done and thoroughly enjoyed it, although it only lasted a mere 10 minutes. This truly cannot be classified as a spa. When I think of spa, I think "ooh, time for relaxation". At True Laser, it's more like get in and get out! Before you know it you're on your way back home thinking... "did I have my facial yet today?" All in all, I recommend True Laser if you are getting the laser hair removal treatment done, it does work and it IS worth the money, if you have it. I only had one treatment done on my underarms and after three weeks, I've noticed that my hair seems to grow in less coarse and finer. It's much easier to shave and I don't have to shave as often. I'm left to assume that with two more treatments, I wouldn't have to shave my underarms ever again.... read more

I went there today for a microdermabrasion (I have acne scars and wanted them softened). So, after the Bucky Book coupon, it was only 50 bucks! That's half off. Totally worth trying out. After lying on the kind of table used for getting facials, I was cleansed, abrased (is this a word? I say yes.), and then given a calming masque. It wasn't really painful- it felt, as the woman who did the work said, 'like a cat's tongue'. The woman who did the service was very nice and polite. I expected a more drastic improvement, but I never had this treatment before... all in all, my skin feels much clearer and calmer and is very, very smooth! I'll be back for another treatment, I think... perhaps in the spring. read more

I started hair removal in a different city with another company that was suuupppper painful and also didn't work. I had a 50% off coupon and bought their underarm package, I believe it was $600 a few years ago with the coupon. Luckily this was much less painful (feels like a snapping rubber band but if you talk to your technician it really helps). The laser has some kind of cold air? or something that makes it less painful. Afterwards they give you an ice pack (which a worker informed me is sanitized after each client) and cream (aloe vera?) on a cotton ball. Two weeks after the treatment my underarm hair fell out completely - it's awesome. I continued going according to their recommended schedule. I've also purchased a bikini line package and it's going well thus far. Suggestions for Clients Watch for coupons (like in the bucky book) or their sales (they have an email list) Stick to their suggested laser schedule as your hair grows at different times Chat with your technician during the lasering Sign up for their reward program - you can use the points on products or maintenance sessions (my hair gets darker as I age and the laser doesn't work on blond hair, so it's $40 to get another session and I will do 2 in a row every few years) Suggestions for Company More of the fluffy robes would be great :) read more

I just moved to Madison and went to this place to get a facial and microderm, and I got the most painful treatment I have ever gotten. I have been getting skin care treatments for around five years now and have found great care centers in NC and Washington, DC, so I can recognize a good service, and this is not it. First I got in and filled a bunch of papers regarding my skin history, inquiring about my skin sensitivity and type, but the technician did not even look at the forms before doing the facial and microderm, which was extremely careless, because I do have sensitive skin and ended up with the face red, swollen and itchy. In five years getting micros, I have never gotten this redness and swollenness. So I would suggest, if you need a good skin care treatment, don't go there. My perception is that this place is extremely commercial and careless, and skin should not be mistreated like that. read more

Had laser hair removal treatment and facial peels. My hair removal was temporary. Hair has grown back stronger than before. According my internet research, this is most likely due to incorrect treatment procedures or to the laser machine itself as I am a good candidate for laser treatment. Management changed while I was getting treatments and staff that new me and my plan were suddenly let go although it took me a while to figure this out. The new staff was not attentive to my individual needs AND came up with additional charges for the plan that was previously established. The facial peels were well done and effective. Most employees are nice, helpful, and get the job done; Just feel little uncomfortable around Susie, she gives a disingenuous vibe. Also if you are on direct pay... make sure at the end of your treatments that direct pay is canceled, I have found many months extra money taken from my account by " True Lazer" than was what I owed. read more

I first went to True Laser, lured by a coupon, for hair removal. I was pressured to purchase a "lifetime" package. The cute, perky clerk did not really seem very knowledgeable but I bought the package anyway. Dumb move, now I learn that I have "voided" my package because I did not come in every four weeks to six weeks. Something I was not aware I needed to do to keep my package. This is definately a place where "BUYER BEWARE" is necessary! Customer service is certainly not on par to other service type businesses in the Madison area. read more

The low rating that I gave this place is not due to the service. Appointments were always easy, staff was friendly, prices were competitive. My low rating is due to the fact that after 2 years of constant laser appointments I STILL HAVE HAIR! This didn't work. I did full bikini and underarms and still have over 50% of my hair. If I continued to go for treatments now they will charge me for each appointment. This is NOT a permanent solution for hair removal. It was wasted money for me. During the appointments my hair was gone completely. After 2 years of treatment now it has all come back. You decide if you want to gamble your money that way. read more

I understand that other people in the business do not apply pressure when doing the treatment in an effort to save time..I have had SEVERAL treatments done..lower/upper leg, lip, bikini, underarm..and I can tell you with certainty that NOT applying pressure would be extremely painful and I would request someone who DID or never return. I find it concerning that technicians would be asked not to..in order to save time and get people through quicker...the second or two it takes to apply pressure does not slow the process..as a matter of fact, tech's who "do" are "quick enough" and it makes the whole process more bearable. read more

This is the worst laser place ever for hair removal. Save your money and do not go here. Here are the following reasons: Smooth Laser (the last remaining branched owned by the same owners of what was previously True laser which is now Milan Laser) charged me over 7400.00 for 6 sessions of multiple treatment areas. True laser was bought by Milan Laser 3 sessions into my contract. They did not call me to tell me they were closing or to reschedule my appointment to the only remaining Smooth Laser location or to transfer my sessions to Milan Laser. They just dipped with my money. I found out the day before my appointment when I called to confirm it. So my appointment was cancelled and I was told someone would reschedule me at Milan when they were open for business. I am never called and call twice more before being scheduled. During this new consultation, Milan tells me that True Laser had been under-treating me in terms of laser intensity (which is why I had zero hair reduction halfway through my treatments), and after a 12 week delay in treatment, they want to start me at lower settings and avoid certain areas (and its costing me 1200/session). This is the straw that breaks the camel's hump so I demand my money back only Milan laser says they didn't receive payment from me to give me a refund and the owners of Smooth Laser do not take my calls and basically rip me off for the remaining 3600 dollars of my treatments and really all 7400 since I got zero out of the service. The people at Milan were nice but dropped the ball big time on the transition. But DO NOT GO TO SMOOTH LASER. Literally worst.
