Pumpkin Delight (amazing!) & Passion Passport. Medium and massive!
    Sari Marissa G.

Am I going to knock a smoothie place that has a drive thru, kids meals, added boosters, and is just all around convenient, appealing to a wider audience than say a mom & pop smoothie or fresh pressed juice shop? I guess not. I will say these smoothies aren't going to be for die hard health fanatics however. Most of them are packed with sugars, natural yes, but still, and rarely do you see one with just greens. That being said, this is obviously a much better option than any other drive thru options, so a big win for quick health-IER meals. As a meal replacement for those looking for a bit of a splurge, this is a great option. The pumpkin delight was to die for!!! My daughter had the Passion Passport which she loved but made the mistake of getting a medium. It was MASSIVE! Luckily it held well in the fridge overnight and she could enjoy it the next day as well. Definitely keep size in mind. The large is 20oz!!! Insane!! All and all, great concept and I remember indulging in a heavily green based one in NOLA when I needed a lightER meal option on vacay. It definitely serves a purpose! I would frequent again but felt a lot less guilty with smoothies from my normal go-to places in the city. It felt like a splurge rather than a meal Replacement. Perhaps I'll go for the light ones next visits. Big props for them having many slim ones and protein add ins. Definitely a TON of options here. Ordering was painless and service was prompt & friendly!

Stopped in after the gym to try a smoothie. It was actually delicious and very filling. Definitely recommend it for that after gym protein!

The drive thru was moving extremely slow and I waited for a good 10 minutes until I got my smoothie.

I am currently living in San Francisco so San Franciscans in Philly can think of Mom's Organic Market akin to Rainbow Grocery in SF. Mom's has a great variety of local and organic produce. Hard to find items that you would find in a good well stocked natural food store or cooperative like Mom's is. Staff is friendly. The layout of the store is a labyrinth that can be confusing like a rubik's cube too far gone yet with a little patience and perhaps asking security, staff, or one of the regulars they can help you get your learning curve to navigate the store of organic natural food product heaven. Within Mom's is the Naked Lunch vegan restaurant which I will return to have a bite there as it looks interesting. I am a proud graduate of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I received the William S. Burroughs scholarship. I did my thesis on William S. Burroughs and William S. Burroughs wrote Naked Lunch aka the cut up novel for which this restaurant is named. Since I was in Philly two weeks I was mixing up dining out at the wonderful vegan foodie scene in Philly along with cooking at my homestay. For cooking at my homestay at Mom's I picked up the following: Soymilk Local and organic blueberries Bananas Garnet jewel sweet potatoes Limes Avocados Organic granny smith apples Red cabbage Ginger root Sweet yellow onion I am pretty sure all the produce was organic. Mom's has been family owned and operated since 1987. Great bulk bin items. Great produce. In a word, great. Mom's sets the bar high for a natural food store. They are like the special forces of natural food stores which is quite alright in my book. Each day Mom's states customers prevent 9,233 grocery bags from being used. Mom's has banned over 250 ingredients from our products storewide. Mom's has chosen to print their receipts on BPA and BPS free paper products for the safety of it's community and the environment. In a word...Yes!

I have a young seven year old special needs kid on the spectrum thats non verbal. From time to time he yells for absolutely no reason. Its not consistent, but happens every half an hour. Again not consistent but one yell. Not too loud, but enough to make you turn around. My son loves the colors and different fresh smells at Sprouts. Its my little guy's favorite place in the world to go to and be himself. We get in line and this cashier is chatting away with a customer about how much she hates working there and dealing with "people". All of a sudden, my son yells and she follows with a " see what I mean, idiots". I knew she was talking about my son, but me being the bigger person I let it slide. Lord knows with my skin color and my size, she would've lied on me and there would've been cops everywhere, so I stayed silent. When it was my time in line, she gave me this side eye (she knew I knew she was talking about my son). As bad as I wanted to tell her about herself, no words exchanged. At the end, I told her to have a nice day, and she answered under her breath, "get outta here". Needless to say I called a manager afterwards, who was extremely nice. I won't put his name on here, bc he tried his best to make things right. One thing struck me, as he said, "yeah she has her moods". My thing is if you dont like working then don't work. Everyone's got a story, mine ain't got nothing to do with you, and yours ain't got nothing to do with mine. Keep it moving. As long as she's working I suggest going to another cashier. One nasty @$$ individual doesnt define everyone else. There are nice people there for sure. But this girl just miserable and hates her life.

MOM's has plenty of parking and shares the building with a Family Dollar. To find the pinball machines, which have their own area, head towards to the checkouts on the left. During my visit, they had over a dozen pinball machines from various eras, and all were in excellent playing condition. Machines were only 50 cents per play with a change machine provided. I found the two most interesting machines to be Riverboat Gambler and Taxi, which I am not sure I've seen before. There were also several arcade cabinets. If you like playing reasonably priced pinball machines in excellent condition, MOM's is absolutely worth the stop.

A bit disappointed on my second trip here…read more Three of the pinball machines took our money and there was no metal ball to play in the machine! The games were Houdini, Riverboat Gambler, and I forget the third one. One of the games the ball got struck and I had to wiggle the ball to get it free however the machine registered it as a tilt and went dark and shut down as a result. I guess in any arcade you will have some broken machines, but they literally ask the participant playing the game to scan a QR code on their phone to alert them of any broken machines. For those of you that are not in the know, you are never supposed to scan random QR codes as people can hack into your phones. Yes, you probably won't be hacked as the QR code is inside the pinball glass but WTF. On another sour note, I was totally out of coffee at my home and was going to grind some coffee beans as all their coffees need to be grind due to them not offering any already ground coffee. Welp, after seeing the unkempt machine with guck on it I chose to leave empty handed. Now for the good, I did not notice the first time I was here, but they even have already poured water for you in a plastic cup that you can help yourself too. This is in addition to free coffee and tea you can have while here. I haven't given up on this place just a bit disappointed on my second trip.
