The owner(?) I spoke with for a few minutes seemed nice enough and I didn't really look at prices as I wasn't necessarily in the market for any of their wares. Beautiful handcrafted, both indoor and outdoor furniture. We're redoing our kitchen and looked for a kitchen set to replace our 22 year old kitchen table. We've been looking but haven't seen a set we both loved. Well, the search is over. Peaceful Valley Amish Furniture, you want everything in the store! We looked at a few sets that we really liked, when I came across this set I knew our search was complete. We started talking to the folks behind the counter, I tell them we need one more barstool for a total of 7 chairs. I'm told, let me contact the builder and see if he has any more in stock. 10 minutes later, the builder doesn't have any more in stock but will make one more chair, just for you?! I think I love you... How cool is that, this wasn't made on an assembly line but someone from the area made the beautiful table and chairs by hand. Delivery, I'm told them only take cash. They called my cell a few weeks later and came to, I like to see people struggle saying East Setauket NY, haha. Sure enough, they came and put together the table. We met some of his family who all helped make our visit memorable. Our dinner was delicious, with some old standbys like roast beef and mashed potatoes but also new to me dishes like buttered noodles, glazed ham meatballs and chow-chow. We went to the Quilt shop after and I've never seen so many beautiful hand made quilts in one place. The designs are beautiful and the work is immaculate. They had so many other items in the shop as well.

I did not realize the restaurant also had a gift shop, so we made a quick visit after finishing a meal at the buffet. Wow - this gift shop is huge! You could spend hours in here shopping around. There was all kinds of things, from t-shirts, other clothing, collectibles, and Shady Maple specific merchandise. The shop was closing at 8, and I did not get down there until about 10 minutes before the close, but I would've spent a good amount of time looking around otherwise. The staff were all very kind, and provided great service. They asked if I needed anything and were friendly at the checkout. I collect magnets, so I try to get a location-specific one anywhere I go on a trip. I was hoping to get a Shady Maple magnet, and I found one. They only had the one kind in the clip, but there were multiple colors. I chose the green, and also got a cool magnet showcasing Lancaster County. I thought the prices were reasonable, as I only spent $10.58, with tax, on the two magnets. Next time I come, I will definitely budget more time to look around this massive shop. So many finds in this store. I am a big fan of the locally-handmade candles sold here. The scents last, even when the candle has burned down. The candles have super fun names too.
