Pros: punctual, helpful, made both pick-up from home and airport very easy (the pick-up was especially easy and driver went to lengths to make sure we knew where to go, which wasn't far). Both drivers very pleasant to talk to. Car comfortable and seemed clean. No fooling around re: mask -- we wear them and so did driver. Thoughtful re: heat/cool/fresh air. Will be using them again -- no question. However, these Cons: 1. a certain amount of quibbling with the office about size of vehicle we needed, which affected the price we'd be charged by $20-30+ base price. We had 2 people, 2 small roll-aboards (22" carry-on-sized cases) to be checked, a briefcase, and two small carry-on bags that would fit under the airline seat. Our telephone contact tried to insist that we needed an SUV rather than a sedan and asked me to take a photo of the luggage to prove we could fit in the sedan. I did but he still didn't believe it would all fit in the sedan's trunk (I told him it all fit in my Corolla's trunk) and warned me that they wouldn't allow any bags in laps or on seats. Eventually, because we'd already ok'd the sedan and credit-card charge for it, we did get the sedan. Plenty of room for the luggage in the trunk, no problem. ' 2. A small issue, but for the price, it might have been nice for the drivers to help 2 elderly get their luggage from/to the front steps of the house (if not the door in Covid times). But both drivers were otherwise cheery, mindful of our preferences re route, etc. and -- as I said -- we'll use Smurfs again. read more

When the owner told me the tip was included at 20% of the fair I asked if that was standard and if everyone of the Driver's was good. I prefer to tip myself and I might give a little less or a little more to a driver, but it's unusual for transportation businesses to charge a tip and I said that. The owner of the business then said go somewhere else and hung up on me. Absolutely shocking and I will not use this business again. Think about going elsewhere because who needs that kind of rude behavior in this world. Of course some people are just looking for ways to be offended. Not good for business though.. read more

Used to be good, courteous and reliable. I used to use them regularly and recommended them to others. For whatever reason, over the last year, they have gone way downhill. Driver apparently got lost trying to find my home (from which he had picked me up multiple times), kept lying that he was "right around the corner" when I later learned he was in the wrong town entirely. I ended up having to drive myself to the airport because he was more than half an hour late. Dispatcher who sounds like Roz from Monsters Inc is unbelievably rude and condescending - speaks to customers like they are idiots. Will never use this service again. read more

We booked Smurfs because we needed a ride to the airport and needed a car seat. Based on word-of-mouth and Yelp reviews, we went with Smurfs. The dispatcher on the phone was very friendly and helpful. The fact that they have car seats is huge! Extra star for that. We had to install the carseats ourselves, which is a bit of a pain, but understandable. They may want to get some newer carseats too - I felt they were on the older side, but I could be wrong. The price includes gratuities and tolls, but unfortunately, we were not told in advance that our price had surcharging for Christmas. Minus a star for that. Our driver (I'm blanking on his name) was very knowledgeable, friendly & courteous. He picked us up a few minutes early and did great driving in bad weather (the start of a snowstorm). His vehicle was brand new and very clean. On the ride home from the airport, our driver was very friendly and talkative, and he was waiting for us at the airport. But the car was not very nice - the windshield had a large crack in it and the car seemed very old. He also talked a bit TOO much about the business and car services vs. Uber/Lyft/etc. I don't mind talking, but it was a little uncomfortable. Overall, I would use them again, but wish the surcharging had been told to use upfront, and I do wish the second car had been a bit nicer/newer. This service has gotten very expensive. They charged us $98 for a lift from Belmont to Logan, automatically included a non-negotiable 20% tip and a 15% gas charge (even though gas is not that expensive right now). When booking on the website I had selected the button indicating that I would pay cash in the car, though they needed a credit card to hold the reservation. In the end they automatically charged my credit card before the driver ever even showed up. I'm glad I checked my email or I may have paid twice. The driver was prompt and professional, but next time I'll just use a ride share app. read more

I have to say that I don't usually call the cabs or airport shuttles often. But these guys were awesome. I called the number in the middle of the night and Barbara, the owner, actually picked up at like midnight. At midnight someone was picking up this phone!!! All the other places I had called looking for quotes, I had to leave a message on the machine/voicemail. Barbara was very nice over the phone. I had made call for a service car to drive me to the airport for the following week at like 3:30 am because my flight was at 5:30. I wanted to make sure I got there with plenty of time to spare. She advised me of the price and toll fares over the phone and advised me that I would receive a confirmation call the night before to reassure me that they would not forget about me. And she did, personally! The guy got here on time and helped me put my stuff in the car and got me to the airport on time and safely. He was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. There was even construction on the highway and needed to detour and he knew his way around. Boy am I glad, if it was me driving, I would have gotten lost and been circling Boston for hours. On top of this great customer service this little transportation was able to provide me, they had the lowest airport fare of all the places I had called. ($40/ride + $6.50/toll = $46.50 + tip). Not to mention, a few of the other places never called me back. If I have to travel to the airport ever again and need a ride, you can bet I'm calling these guys again. P.S. My boss has been using Smurfs for about 8 years. For the past year or so, I've been noticing there is one very rude employee. This morning I called to confirm my boss's reservation. His voice was muffled and not very clear about the reservation, so I asked him a few times just to make sure. He said, "How many time do I have to tell you! IT IS CONFIRMED!" He was extremely condescending and arrogant. This is not the way he should treat his customers. I told him he didn't have to be so rude and I hang up. Filled out their on-line quote request as I couldn't reach them by phone and never heard back from them. They were good the first time we used them, but fell very short this time as we never heard back from them. The explanation was that "they were busy", which is why they didn't respond. I made the mistake of assuming they would respond as I didn't contact other service companies. It all worked out as we used a taxi from the airport, which cost about the same if not even a little less and without the hassle of wondering if someone will show up. Unfortunately, professionalism and prompt responses are crucial in scheduling transportation needs so I don't think I would use them again. read more

I really like these guys for a few reasons: 1) They never turn down or balk at any kind of timing request. I have to do a lot of freakishly early things (things = rides to the airport) for work here and there, and no matter how early, they're always up for it and around. You can't be 100% sure there's an Uber or Lyft driver around at 3:00 am on a Thursday "morning," but these guys will have your back if you call ahead of time. 2) They're nearly always on time, and early as often as they are late. I've used them for years and I think I've had one driver be late, and even then it was only by five minutes and he called me immediately to let me know. 3) The drivers vary, but they're content to let you chill or engage with them as you like. They're also really easygoing about stuff, so you don't feel like they're stressing you out by trying to move your luggage or flit around you as you get in and/or disembark. 4) The flat rate to Logan is really nice, just in case something happens. But really, it's just about #1. When you NEED to get somewhere at a weird time, you are boned if your ride doesn't show. These guys do. read more

Was referred to this place because my two reliable taxi drivers were not available but recommended it. Needed a ride to the airport at 5:45am - I was scrambling around the apartment and didn't see the phone ring @ 5:35am. Apparently the driver left me voicemail letting me know that he's in a rush and asked if I could come out earlier. When I finally came out at 5:46am he was VISUALLY upset asking why I didn't come out earlier as he had requested. Apparently, he had another person to pick up and needed me to come out earlier so he can make the other appointment. I was really taken by surprise. Here I am, about to hand over my money for a service but instead, I paid to get a lashing all the way to the airport (yes, he gave me a nagging all the way to the airport and also as I left the taxi at the airport). He was even complaining how I took 4 minutes to get into the taxi (as you serious??) as I had to lock up and get my luggage into the cab. I take taxis to the airport on a weekly basis as I travel quite a bit and tend to stick to one or two drivers as I have for years - which is usually good business for them to know they can rely on client business for a fixed period of time. Fortunately there are other taxi companies out there that are just as reliable and needless to say, this is going to be my first and last time I use Smurfs. I'm giving it a two stars because of my awful experience - I've never been in such a situation before with a taxi driver, ever. I wouldn't not recommend this service - there are better ones out there. Would use again for personal transit--NOT business. So, the good: Very friendly. Cars arrived on time. Low prices. The not so good: I booked an SUV a week ahead of time, and was sent a minivan. We all fit, but I had two CEOs--my own and a client's--to get to a very fancy dinner. Frankly, it was embarrassing. They did send an SUV to pick us up afterwards, but not the one I had been promised (a Denali instead of an Escalade...). The minivan was in worse shape than the SUV, but they were both a little run-down and not the cleanest.. I also did not appreciate having to pay the drivers in the cars rather than through Smurfs (doing so in the car is tacky in front of clients, plus there were processing delays) as I have with literally every other car service I've ever used--it was not made clear to me that this is basically just a taxi service. Yelpers gave this place such awesome ratings I wanted to give them a shot, but I should have stuck with one of the known quantities for corporate transit. I would use these guys again to get myself and/or some friends somewhere, but not when I have my company's image to consider. I'm glad I used my beloved Chill Out First Class Cab to have my client's CEO picked up earlier the same day (they don't have SUVs so couldn't use them for the other trips with several people). read more

Affordable option if you are against using uber or lyft for getting to/from Logan. Vehicle and drivers are far far from swank but they are courteous. Had a very early outbound flight and a very late return. Morning departure driver was punctual arriving at my Waltham location. Offered to stop for a coffee on the way. Late night flight came in early to Logan and driver was about 10-15 mins late meeting me. Was tired and just wanted my ride to be there when I got to the pick up area, but I guess it wasn't such a big deal. Sometimes it's worth the hassle to support local businesses. I also told my mom to use SMURFS when she flew in bc it would be cheaper than a cab. Driver was there when she arrived and got her to the house promptly. read more

Barbara at the office is quick to respond to emails and they always answer the phone when you call. We've used them several times from Arlington to Logan. Their cars are in very good shape and don't smell like smoke. The gripe I've is even though the gas prices have come down under $2/gallon, we still ended up paying $53 + tip to get to Arlington to Logan and vice versa. This is not acceptable. The owner will answer the phone at all hours of the night (and early morning...our flight was delayed and we had to reschedule our pickup at 4:30am!) and on the rare occasion you have to leave a message, they return your call promptly. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but I've used other locally based cab companies and they're often unreliable, rude, or both!! (yes, I'm talking about you, American Taxi and Veterans Taxi!) Anyway, the pricing is reasonable, the town cars and vans are clean, and there's a flat rate for airport runs. Excellent experience! We used Smurf Transportation for the first time earlier this month because I happened to see one of their vehicles near the airport and I liked the name. I looked up their reviews and after seeing how positive they were, we decided to give them a shot. Wow--we're we impressed! The driver who took us to the airport was right on time, pleasant and professional. He helped start our vacation on a very positive note! For our return trip him from the airport, our driver left me a voicemail about 10 minutes before we landed, told us where to meet him and was very courteous when we arrived at the car. He got us home in record time and helped us end our vacation on a good note. I plan to use Smurf Transportation whenever I need transit to and from the airport. We have had many poor cab experiences in the past when needing to get to the airport and I was nervous being in a new area and having an infants car seat and stroller to get in as well... The owner was our driver and she was great... On time and very pleasant... We didn't utilize the extra service but they do offer car seats for free if needed... Which is a huge perk for those who don't need to take them on he trip but end up taking them for the cab ride... Pretty clean and decent cab (we were in a large SUV) and we can pay with credit which is great. The owner did state that calling can sometimes not work great since she has a hard time finding good dispatchers, so she stated she recommends emailing. The one issue would've been that she accidentally overcharged us, however she called about 10 minutes after she left us at the airport and apologized and stated she had overcharged us and was so sorry and what could she do... She offered to discount our next ride the difference, since I stated we would probably use them again... Sooo this is not really an issue because she realized the mistake and wanted to make it right. I asked for a cab for a 6am departure and a town car arrived - early to boot. The driver helped me with my bags - even from the top of the stairs at my doorstep. Nice touch. I have been a regular Smurf's customer for over five years. I switched to them after one of the more expensive town car services didn't show up for my 5am pick-up. Even worse, there was no answer when I called the office. I find Smurf's extremely reliable and affordable. That to me is a great value. In my five years there was only one time they messed up, and Barbara was quick to apologize and make it right. More important...she answered the phone! I've not used them as a taxi service for around town, but I would definitely recommend them for airport and Amtrak service. read more

I scheduled both trips a couple days in advance, via Smurfs' website, and received email confirmations both times. The driver promptly met us at our early early time of 5:15am for a 7am flight. We asked for a taxi, and a town car came - same thing. The car was a little tattered, but got us from A to B relatively quickly. From Belmont to Logan was a flat $55, and he used a route which did not need tolls. The driver was talkative which was nice, however he was extremely nice in turning around about 3 minutes into the trip after my fiance realized she forgot her Blackberry. Since it was flat fee, we appreciated the effort. In calculating the costs of cab or parking at Logan, Smurfs makes a good choice to get to Logan. read more
