Aquí solo van a batallar desde el primer día. Los errores son constantes y los resultados simplemente no existen. This firm showed me a pattern of behavior that no client should ever ignore: Basic mistakes on simple tasks like change‑of‑address forms- repeated, careless, and never corrected. Constant turnover of paralegals, forcing clients to repeat the same information because no one communicates internally. Misleading "Spanish‑speaking" advertising. Only the paralegals speak Spanish. The attorneys do not. More communication from billing than from the attorney. When the billing department contacts you more than your lawyer, the priorities are clear -- and they are not the client. The attorney introduced at the beginning was NOT the attorney assigned after payment. That switch alone is a major red flag. My assigned attorney does not appear anywhere on the firm's own team webpage. That lack of transparency is unacceptable. Online reviews show a pattern of detailed complaints that match my experience, yet the firm responds with generic "contact us for feedback" messages instead of addressing the issues. The money disappears fast, and the work does not reflect the cost. The value, communication, and results do not match what they charge. Something is off about how this place operates. The mismatch between their five‑star ratings and the consistent complaints about money and lack of results is impossible to ignore. I'm writing this so others don't have to go through what I did. The lack of consistency, transparency, and professionalism is alarming, and the firm's priorities are nowhere near where they should be.

I retained Meyes Telles in early 2025 after being contacted about a potential unemployment-related…read moreinvestigation. I paid $6,782 up front based on the understanding that this would cover the investigative phase and early representation. During my consultation, the conversations repeatedly emphasized that my "future," "freedom," and "life" were at risk if I didn't retain the firm immediately. At the time I was scared and vulnerable, and looking back, the tone now feels unnecessarily alarm-driven given how my case ultimately resolved. Over the following months, very little seemed to happen on my case, but I was still charged recurring $500 "criminal investigation minimum" fees plus additional charges for brief emails and short calls on top of that. My understanding of a "minimum fee" was that it would apply only when less than that amount of work occurred, not as an extra charge added regardless of activity. The wording in the agreement felt unclear, and the way the fee was applied didn't feel consistent. When I requested a full accounting, the billing appeared fragmented across many tiny time entries in months where the minimum fee was also added. I asked for clarification and said clearly that I wanted to resolve my questions internally and amicably first. After one reply from the firm, my follow-up request went unanswered. When the matter finally became a formal case, I was then told I would need to pay an additional $15,000 for "pre-trial work," even though only one hearing was expected. This was never clearly disclosed at the beginning, and it felt like a sudden financial surprise at the worst possible moment. I had also previously been told that unused funds would roll forward if the case escalated -- but when I asked about that, the explanation changed completely. At that point I no longer felt comfortable remaining with the firm. I hired a new attorney for $3,500. Within one round of plea negotiations, we obtained a highly favorable resolution that removed all felony charges and resulted in a much better outcome than what I had been led to believe was realistic. My new counsel also expressed concern about how the early strategy and billing from my prior representation had been handled, and explained that my situation was actually fairly straightforward -- not the extreme, catastrophic scenario I was initially presented with. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that anyone considering this firm ask very direct questions about: * what their "monthly minimum" fee actually means in practice * when and how large additional fees may be * whether funds truly roll forward if the case progresses * what realistic case outcomes look like before being told worst-case scenarios I left this experience feeling financially taken advantage of, misled about the severity of my situation, and ignored when I asked reasonable questions about billing. I would not use this firm again.

I was connected to Mr. Hamby, on a holiday, to explain my situation and what I was looking for. Ultimately, it turns out that the kind of lawyer I needed was not within his firm's area of expertise. What impressed me though was that he was able to politely take charge of the conversation, ask me simple and straightforward questions, and get to the conclusion in a short amount of time. It might seem silly to leave a positive review for a consultation that ended with "I'm not the lawyer you need," but that's just the reality of the situation. A less talented person might have had me going in circles, explaining things over and over again, misunderstanding what I was asking for and so on. I really appreciated his professionalism and skill, and in the future, if I do need a criminal defense lawyer, I think I would be very happy with Mr. Hamby's services.

I had been living in Arizona for less than a year at the time and my parents were out of the country, I had trouble getting a hold of them. On my third day in custody a guard woke me up and Brenna met me in the cell area just hours after my parents hired her. Three weeks later I was rearrested for two more counts of stalking that were being investigated by Mesa PD, prior to my first arrest. I was improperly held non bondable for 7 days. Immediately Brenna got an emergency hearing in front of the presiding criminal judge, and was released on a 1k bond, when the state asked for 10k. The case in Maricopa County resolved in a class 6 undesignated. At sentencing I told her I hope to never need a lawyer again but if I did I would call her without hesitation. Well the very next day I was driving to Flagstaff and failed to yield to sirens and kept driving. I was arrested again on an unlawful flight up in Camp Verde. She came to bat again immediately at my initial appearance and was released OR. In Yavapai County we were offered a class 6 felony plea, Brenna proactively put together a mitigation package of my Autism spectrum disorder diagnosis as well as taking a strive personal safety course. At EDC the prosecutor agreed to an undesignated plea. She was very instrumental in helping me be fully reinstated on probation with no sanctions. Brenna will come to bat for her clients at all costs. She will take time out of her day to meet with you, truly studies your case, and truly gives you the best advice on what plea offer to take. I highly recommend David Black Law Office
