I felt welcomed into the group. There was good energy and I could feel the passion and intensity of the group. I saw diversity I hadn't really seen before - people 20 years younger and 20 years older than me all kicking ass on the bags and lifting heavy weight.‍ I love the enthusiasm for the program. Workouts are ever changing and building - they grow me in ways I haven't encountered before. I never get bored. I am always sore - knowing my muscles are being fully worked. I'd rather be sore from working my body than sore from not. And, I've never been fitter or stronger. I love the competition. After completing the 10 week program you become a FIT member which is even more fun. You now have the option to challenge yourself above and beyond the program - challenges are gamified with partners or teams for cash prizes. And now, Dale and Chanell have brought even more to enhance our experience - Advanced Kickboxing / MMA style, Yoga Sculpt, HIIT Kettlebell workouts and soon a Barbell Club ‍ We often do fun outings for bonding events as well and that has been very fun. I love that I am surrounded by friends with a variety of goals too - whether that's gaining muscle, losing fat, toning up, gaining more flexibility, training for marathons, or healing from all that life throws us. I love that I see all bodies and ages working hard to live a healthier life. I love that for 45 minutes I can focus on getting stronger and releasing stress. The ECC is my back-up fitness center for whenever I'm looking for a satisfying run but the…read moreweather's cruddy. Eaganites should be very happy to have such a top-notch place to work out. Their indoor track is my favorite in the South Metro & St. Paul area: rubberized, 3 lanes of comfortable width, 11 laps/mile. It's suspended above the Community Center's basketball courts, which is great for two reasons. 1) It's out of the way so you don't have to worry about people meandering onto the track. 2) There's usually some practice or game going on, which means you'll have a bit of incidental entertainment as you exercise. Also, they have several bays of floor-to-ceiling windows along the one wall, so unlike some basement-like facilities, you'll get to enjoy some natural light as you put in the miles. This facility is clean with a capital C. Everything is spotless--the track, the equipment, even the locker rooms were in impeccable condition. The building's over a decade old (built in 2003, if I recall correctly), but it still looks shiny and new. Pricing is very reasonable; since I'm here fairly infrequently I utilize the walking-track-only day pass, which is less than $5. However, please be aware that this option is not available Monday-Friday between 4-7pm. For a few more bucks you can get full run (no pun intended) of the fitness center with no restrictions. There's all sorts of membership options, of course, that you can find on the website. They have fitness classes and personal training available at the ECC as well. I've never used these services, but it's worth mentioning they exist. Spacious, un-pretentious, affordable, easy to get to, easy to park, friendly staff, never crowded... ultimately, a good gym, and a great amenity for the people of Eagan (and surrounding areas).

I arrived about 7 minutes early for class and the large gym space had about three people inside. The front desk was empty and there was no real way to know what to do to get checked in. I asked another person what I should do and she told me the instructor would be there any minute . A few more people came in right before class along with the instructor. The direction was to do the warm up. As someone new I expected a little bit of an overview and a warmer welcome. I introduced myself and said this is my first class so I don't know what to expect. The directions weren't much different than "warm up". I asked a few questions so I could understand the format of the class. Once I got this was strictly weight training with a circuit like format decided to just go with the flow. The workout itself was slow in the beginning, there was quite a bit of downtime and talking from other people in the class. While the workout was challenging I felt the directions and modeling were lacking. The gym itself was much like a large auxiliary gym and it appeared to be a shared space that isn't well managed because things were out of place, dusty, and someone else was trying to use the same equipment as the class during the class. Overall I think I got a good workout but there is some room for improvement to the space and operations.

A lot of the people who lift here are very fit and body build. That being said it would be easy to be intimidated by the atmosphere from an outside view. But you would be completely wrong to judge by that! Everyone here is very respectful and even helpful. The staff are very genuine. They have proteins and snacks you can purchase as well as gear. Parking at all locations is very limited but you can find street parking at all that don't make you pay a dime. This is truly a gym for those looking purely to get in shape and lift heavy.
