Has a stripped down warehouse kind of feel although they tout themselves as a gallery, but that's not the vibe. Nothing about this place is pampering or luxury. Frankly, I haven't seen anybody, (on the four different occasions I visited there) leave with a great haircut, including me! Moving on..... read more

I had been seeing one stylist for some time but she is no longer at the salon so they recommended someone else. I took their advice & booked the women's short haircut with the stylist they recommended. when I checked out, the cost was $100! I had paid $50-$60 previously with the other stylist. i called $ asked the average price a few days later, the receptionist said $50-$60 but each stylist can set their own rate based on experience, etc. It is nice salon & my haircut was good but not $100 good. Shame on me for not asking the price in advance but assumed there was consistent pricing based on what I paid in the past. Be sure to ask in advance the price so you aren't surprised paying a lot more! I will no longer be one of their clients. read more

Whomever came up with the saying "hell has no fury like a woman scorned" knew what they were talking about. I decided to go to Snip Salon after my last hair dresser really messed up my blonde coloring and highlights. THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to me, was getting the highlights right. I picked Snip Salon based on reviews (probably by friends and family) on the Cave Creek Infamous Bulletin Board on Facebook. Here was my experience: 1) Called the salon to book appointment. Got message machine. No one called me back for more than two days 2) Called again to try to book appointment. Someone picked up and told me that they don't really have a front desk person, so this is why no one called me back. Made an appointment for a Saturday with Heather. 3) Called back again and spoke to the owner Kenny. Told him that I wanted to be sure that I had someone who really knew how to color blondes because I needed a four-month long disaster color corrected. He assured me that all of their stylists had at least 10 years experience and Heather would be really good with Blonde. 4) Got schedule for a job interview the Thursday before my appointment. So called again and asked if they had anyone who could help me pretty please, as I really wanted my hair to look nice for my job interview. Got booked with Julie. 5) Arrived for my 4:15pm appointment on Tuesday. A young girl was behind the front desk. She did not look up at me, nor welcome me, nor greet me. This is my first experience at the salon. Remember, it takes 7 seconds to make a first impression and SEVEN in person meetings to make up for a first impression. A male was taking care of someone's hair. I presume it was the owner. He did not look up, greet me or welcome me. Several other people were doing hair or milling about. 6) 4:34pm. I have still not been greeted or welcomed by anyone. A woman finishes someones hair. She goes about her business, cleans her station, talks a few moments with her co-worker and then finally wanders over to say hello. 7) I sit down and explain that I have long blonde hair with some grey roots coming in, that I had a bad color job done previously, that it was super important to me to get the color right. Requested blonde highlights, looking as natural as possible for my ash blonde base, with a little bit of extra highlighting around my face. She showed me a photo of a girl with super ash blonde and very chunky lowlights. I said no, I wanted lots of smaller, even slices of highlights and lowlights that would match my base, so that when my hair grew back in, it would look most natural. I also requested and PAID for FULL HIGHLIGHTS AND LOWLIGHTS. Not partial. 8) What I received was, overly blond hair, with highlights, lowlights not close to the roots. Chunky lowlights, the color of caramel, not ash. Two inches plus of extra highlights around face - looking washed out, not natural or subtle. And by far the most sloppy, lazy full highlights I've ever seen. There are gaps everywhere, hardly any highlights or lowlights and well, I might as well have just done partial, because that's what it looks like. 9) After spending $200, I have hair color that looks like it was done by a beginner at beauty school or amateur at best. I was very communicative about what I wanted and needed and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. Do your research. Save your money. Go somewhere else. It is not worth the money. read more

I moved here recently and needed a new stylist for my hair. Nice looking salon and website. Olivia took care of me. I was disappointed with the results as the sides and back of my hair did not blend smoothly. To correct it would have required cutting nearly another 1" off the back, so I opted to keep it "as is". Not horrid, just disappointing. read more

This salon is awesome! Owner Kenny Mei has designed a warm space with modern finishes that's a perfect match for the great hair services he and staff provide. Music is a great mix. Local artwork adorns the walls and gives local artists a nice place to display their best pieces. The shopping center that Snip calls home is full of great shops as well. As for Kenny, he's one of the best stylists in the West. I've been lucky to have him cutting my hair for over a decade and it's wonderful to see his long term plans and vision finally become real! Beautiful hair salon, great Kevin Murphy products, albeit they are expensive. With 20% tip, I paid a total of $72.00 and had 1" cut off my hair(it is already pretty short). I am not use to these Scottsdale prices as on the east coast I paid $40 + trip for a haircut, but I guess this is a high end salon with high end clients. I had asked for the same wispy-textured layered cut I currently had and to blow dry it out wispy so I see it. I was a bit disappointed with the blow dry as my hair is super fine, it came out flat and straight. I was wasn't asked to see the back of my hair. Good news is after I washed and blew it out myself I have my wispy layers. read more

Got my nails done next door and came across thus little salon. Decided to make an appointment. They do appointments on line via Vagaro. I met with my hair dresser Amber. I wanted an entire new look. Gave her some ideas via Pinterest. I told her that it was in her hands. She gave me a nice hair shampoo with scalp massage. She took her time cutting my hair as well as styling it. As she was styling, she went over how to care and style my hair at home. She showed me options how change up my look. I love my new hair! read more

I took a moment to show some photos of short haircuts that I like, and we discussed those vis-a-vis my hair and made a plan for my curly-wavy, grey. I have been getting my men's haircut by Kenny (owner) for nearly a decade...I've moved my residence 20+ Miles away from his location and I still drive up to see him, he's that good. He always stays up on trends and has recommendations but naturally he leaves it up to you and I like that. He has a lot of women clients too and I have seen many women come in and ask for Kenny because another stylist (at another company) messed up their hair - Kenny fixed it and I've never seen any of his clients unhappy. Local selected artists display their work which is fun to browse. The owner Kenny Mei has been doing my hair for several years. Between the rich ash blonde color he creates, fabulous hair cuts and unique styles I walk out with, I am very happy that I found him. I moved to AZ from the east coast and it was very difficult to find a stylist that had all the qualities I was looking for. There are stylists and there are artists and Kenny is the latter. I'm from NYC and since moving to Phoenix I have been going to Kenny for high and low lights for my shoulder length hair for over three years and I love him, he is fabulous! In addition to being a great colorist/stylist, he is really a nice, hard-working, family man and his new Snip Salon and Gallery is the fruition of his dream. Located next to AJs Food (delicious), the Salon is fashioned in an industrial design with an eclectic mix of paintings and art from numerous local artists. As you can tell from all of the reviews (Except one - Victoria), Kenny's team of stylist are all exceptionally friendly and highly trained professionals with nothing but excellent reviews. After reading Victoria's review, I'm flabbergasted as my experience (and apparently everyone else"s) couldn't be farther from the truth. And contrary to Victoria's representation, I am NOT related to Kenny. In fact, the more I read her ridiculous review (of Snip Salon and Gallery and other Yelp entities) it appears that "the lady dost protest too much, methinks" as being bitter and bashing establishments seems to be her typical routine. read more
