I actually posted a review a few months ago after my first haircut with Taylor, and I'm still just as impressed, if not more. She truly listens to what you're looking for and takes the time to understand your vision. That alone makes such a difference, but what's even better is that she delivers amazing results every time. When I called to inquire about services they were friendly and inviting. I feel like many local businesses encourage clients to not schedule a same-day appointment, however, I was stoked that it wasn't a hassle to ask for and schedule a same-day facial. The facial price and services were awesome; super relaxing. It was a challenging morning, and it was so nice to retreat to the quiet, sanctuary of a treatment room. I was so pleased that I called on Tuesday and they could get me in today (Friday) they also called me with a cancellation and asked if I wanted to come earlier which is great customer service to me. Natalie is the best. She is a great esthetician! I get facials from her and also my eyebrows waxed and dyed and she's awesome at that too. I highly recommend her. This past Tuesday I had what I think is probably THE BEST haircut I've ever had (in all my 59 yrs)! I didn't really even ask for it, we just quickly looked at photos in a magazine. I expected what I usually get (a not-so-chic/corny haircut) but Gusty (darling name) gave me the haircut I've been asking different stylists to do for years now (everywhere from NYC to LA, KS to Fl). I finally got it, though-- here in Arizona (I know, whoda thunk it)? It's a really sharp, rather smart-looking haircut-- and super easy to care for, too!! Unfortunately, I am moving away from Arizona soon-- but am hoping my next stylist, in another state, can simply follow this fabulous cut she gave me. Today was my first visit with Hugh, who came as a referral from a friend, for a haircut. Besides being just a great guy, I felt he took the time to assess my hair and make an educated suggestion about what would look better and where he would like to see my hair "go" in the future. Honestly- how many times do you go to a salon and they say what do you want? Instead I asked him what he thought- and he gave me his opinion (which I took) but he didn't force it on me. I visited Hyadrate after buying a groupon for a facial. It is a beautiful salon with very attentive staff. The facial itself was very nice and relaxing. However, the groupon stated a choice in the facial provided and I was never given a choice. I'm not even sure which facial I had, but my skin has been breaking out worse than ever since. read more

I had one great haircut with Hugh and when I scheduled my second one I was 10 minutes late. I had also scheduled a color but the girls up front failed to schedule it. It was downhill from there. Hugh was very irritated that I was late and I said I would reschedule. He did the cut anyway. Then when I announced I was also to get color and he didn't know, he got even more irritated. He left and came back when color product and proceeded to do the color much to my dismay. Well don't see Hugh if he is pissed off. the cut was bad and the color worse. i went back a week later and Kimberly corrected both and she was a sweetheart. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a hairdresser. I will never go back to Hugh again. read more

Before finding Kelli at Hydrate I tried a number of salons in town for color. Kelli finally nailed it and I have been going to her for the past couple years and have always been completely satisfied. I appreciate that she listens and tweaks things from time to time, depending on my mood, the season, whatever the case may be. Recently I have been going to Lindsay for cut and style and have been very satisfied. We are still working on "growing out" some areas so it is still a bit of a work in progress but she has done a great job. Also, she was kind enough to take time to show me some curling iron tricks which no one had done so before. Since then I have been enjoying experimenting with different hair styles. I like this salon a lot! I have had haircuts with Cami and with Hugh, both do an excellent job! All the staff seem very friendly and helpful. The salon has a relaxed and casual atmosphere, is decorated nicely and is a nice size - not huge, not tiny. They have a great selection of products to purchase in stock. I'm pretty low maintenance for my hair, so I really appreciate that if I ask for products, they give recommendations and aren't trying to pressure me into buying a bunch of stuff I don't need every time I go in. Terrible. So booked a blow out, should seem pretty simple. Arrived and the front desk had booked my appt wrong so she only had 30min. The stylist kept trying to convince me not to have my hair washed because I wanted a little volume and wave. Well, why would I pay to have you blow dry my dirty hair. It was a bit awkward. They don't know how to round brush to do a blow out!! She back combed/teased it to get volume. What?!?!?! I kept asking what she was doing. Well...$60 out the door I literally went home and rewashed my hair and did it for myself. In tears... High end location, low end style. read more

Manager is clueless on how to run a business and has no understanding that the customer is always right. Save your time and money. Just took a $230 loss for a messed up highlight job as well as going elsewhere to get this brassy mess fixed. I've never been good at getting my hair cut regularly because I was always disappointed that the stylist didn't listen to me. Then, my Mom recommended I go see her new stylist Hugh Quach... Hugh is amazing!! My hair is badly damaged from going so long in between cuts, blow drying and straightening-- Hugh is completely turning this around. He is very knowledgeable about hair health and what looks good on certain people. He does not force you to choose the style or cut that his professional opinion suggests; he gives you all the options and let's you decide. I get excited to get my hair cut now that it looks and feels so much healthier and stronger. I've been 3 times and I cannot wait to see how much more my hair will improve going forward. I received the worst hair cut and color I have ever had in my life. My stylist was over booked. After three hours between the highlight and cut and the person booked in between my service I emerged a lopsided brassy mess. The receptionist was very young and had no customer service skills and was dumbfounded when I asked to speak to the manager or owner. I spoke to the owner about the problem after leaving the "salon" and was told sorry, there was nothing she would do to fix the issues. Everyone there was independent. Save your money, there are so many excellent salons in the North Phoenix area. This is definitely not one of them! read more
