Single. Time. Someone always greets me with a genuine smile when I come in the door. A few months ago, I deposited a check at the drive-thru, giving them my ATM card for the account info (no gripes about not filling out a slip). A short conversation about the source of the check and whether or not they'd need to hold funds until it cleared, ensued. Friendly and professional, but probably it would take 7 days. Ah, well. Little did I realize as I drove away, that the teller had forgotten to return my ATM card. That would have been a major imposition, except that my phone rang when I was a half-block away. "Sorry, I forgot to return your ATM card." When I entered the lobby a couple minutes later, I was greeted with smiles and apologies from TWO people. Along with my card, the teller handed me a coffee gift card along with the message that they put the check through without waiting the requisite 7 days for it clear. THAT is outstanding customer service. That's what the big banks are missing. It's not whether or not you mess up. It's how you handle it when you do.

She waited as she was the only other one in the customer service waiting area, hoping she would wrap up a little early. The banker finished her appointment early and skipped over my mom and took people out of the teller line instead. Then had the audacity to tell my mom that she didn't want her to leave angry but wouldn't do the wire. They let her stay after closing to pull her money out of her account though... absolutely absurd. Your bank should not be a barrier to you closing on a house.

Found out there, the other branch I was at went back on line maybe 5 minutes after I left. Thanks for wasting my time and gas. Phone access almost impossible, you can sit on hold for 30 minutes on a good day. Online chat has never worked for my PC, their techs unable to provide a solution. Cell phone access used to be easy but now it wants to also do the "double check" and once you answer the text properly, it directs you to go back to the site - which is stuck on the verification page - so you log back in and get the same thing all over again! another verification request. I'm really disgusted at all these businesses making it impossibe to access your account online without a smart phone. Just don't lose your phone or you won't be able to access your account, unless you walk into the branch - something which seems to be discouraged. You go in and the bank rep tells you "You could have done your transaction online". . I've banked here several years, but this is my last. Alaska Fed beat the interest rate Harborstone offered me for a car loan. Found out there is better customer service out there than Harborstone cares to provide. Adios!

Misleading marketing, zero customer goodwill…read more I opened a Seen Mastercard based on promotional materials that weren't clear about a $59 annual fee. When I saw the charge on my first statement and contacted support, they pointed me to the fine print in the cardmember agreement and refused any refund. I escalated to the CFPB, the Federal Reserve, and California's DFPI over the next year. Every agency either closed the case or passed it to another. Seen's position throughout was essentially: the fee is in the agreement, end of story. No goodwill. No acknowledgment that their marketing caused genuine confusion. No courtesy refund after a year of complaints from a customer who barely used the card. If you're considering this card, read every document very carefully before applying. Their customer service will not help you if something goes wrong.
