Public Statement -- Courthouse Security Experience (Snohomish County, Oct 21 2025) On October 21, 2025, around 11:40 a.m., I went through security at the Snohomish County Courthouse and was treated with unnecessary hostility by a courthouse deputy named D. Hart. I complied fully with every requirement but was met with sarcasm and a dismissive remark that "if I didn't like it, I didn't have to come there." For many citizens who must attend court, that attitude is unacceptable. I later tried to give calm, respectful feedback, but the deputy cut me off, activated his camera, and escalated the exchange instead of listening. I have filed a formal written complaint with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, but I'm sharing this publicly because people deserve to know how visitors are treated at their own courthouse. Encounters like this can discourage people from exercising their rights or fulfilling their legal obligations. If you experience similar behavior, please speak out and document it. Every report helps show that this is not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern that needs to be addressed. The security desk STEALS YOUR STUFF. If you have anything in your pockets that, just maybe, could be considered dangerous, DO NOT ENTER. The faux, poseur security will take your stuff, TELL you you'll 'get it back when you leave', then never return your items. Even if you barely pass the metal detector so you can turn-around immediately (perhaps you were in the wrong building), they keep your stuff. They will, then, tell you they ALWAYS keep everything that is confiscated. Not _held_ while you turn around, stolen. read more

Ugh of course in the information manual there is nothing about pay for jurors...not a fan of bureaucracy and government when it comes to information or efficiency. They have us wait in the cold and snow before 730, pack us in like sardines as we wait for the juror selection process. I complain because I'm a war veteran and I've already served and am not interested in anyone else's drama. read more

The superior court for Snohomish County is here. The clerks were helpful with paperwork. Officers were professional and friendly. Others that I had to work with were polite and answered questions. The parking garage is well lit. One of the times I was leaving, the parking tenant was very nice and informed me of another exit as the main one was undergoing maintenance that wasn't obvious. read more

Really isnt anything GOOD to say. If you're stuck on jury duty, they will tell you to show up @ 7:30. Guess what, they dont even open the doors till 7:30, so just stand in the rain and cold while the security line inches along. If you go into the jury waiting room, go all the way to the back, fewer people and thats where the coffee is. read more

I can hardly believe that the court doesn't allow photo or video evidence to be submitted, especially when that evidence makes the claim undeniable. The person presiding over my case (Judicial Officer) in 2020 was also unbelievably unprofessional and dismissive of the situation. I had an extremely hostile situation where I had to file a restraining order. Before the remote hearing (over the phone), this officer presiding over my case was laughing and being all "chummy" with the accused. Ask yourself how that must feel; you sitting on a conference call with people from multiple cases, the presiding commissioner, and the violent person you are terrified of, and the judicial officer has the gall to act chummy towards that person, knowing you're on the line. I knew I was losing my case before the hearing even started. She is beyond unprofessional and clearly has no business in any hearings. Don't ever count on your rights being protected at this courthouse, it's a complete joke! read more

I've never had a bad experience when I've been here - the parking garage is super nice, and getting in and out of the courthouse is a breeze. The security people are actually pretty friendly, and all the court administrators have been helpful and friendly. Parking in the garage is pretty reasonable - I was in the garage for around an hour; and it was only $2. There is free parking all around, but it can be a challenge to find a space. The campus can be a bit confusing if you are looking to get a license or a permit; but you just need to remember that proceedings are held in the older building, and all of the permits, etc are obtained in the newer building. It's not like you can go someplace else for these services, but I think Snohomish county has done a very nice job of making the campus a pleasant place to be. read more

Went in to get fingerprinted and had a really pleasant experience. All the staff from security, secretary, and my fingerprint tech were super friendly and helpful. There were a couple of people ahead of me to get printed but once I was in there it was quick and easy! read more

Really unimpressed with the conduct of the Marshall Wesson. Don't come here and expect to have your rights respected. You will be treated as a second class citizen. Seems like you walk on eggshells once you step in the building, the fat lady security guard was extremely inappropriate. read more

I was summoned for my first jury duty. The whole process went smoothly. All the staff were very friendly and tried to keep us informed all the time. Waiting was alright as long as you are prepared and have some kind of media to entertain yourself. Jury duty is fun! It was a great experience with Snohomish Court. Note: I was not a fan of the plaza cafe. If you want to venture out for food, there are great small cafes/restaurants within walking distance. Just yelp! read more

Super rude! The jury duty ladies on the phone are the rudest people I've encountered. Get a new job if you hate your life that much!

I was disappointed that there is no small claims division in the courthouse as indicated on the website. Furthermore the courthouse does not except the online forms that they have online instead they give you forms that you're supposed to hand write which looks completely unprofessional and takes lotta time to redo all your paperwork. Then the clerk start to argue about me with the jurisdiction and she was completely wrong I am completely entitled to sue them in this jurisdiction because they exist here as a business entity and do business here and did business with me here, how are the court clerk who isn't supposed to giving legal advice anyways, kept giving her opinion about jurisdiction and I told her this is the jurisdiction that it needs to be filed and I have done this before and then she tells me I can file it in any county in Washington! I would avoid using the downtown Everett courthouse for small claims because they have to transfer it out anyways, so unless you're willing to make the drive to Arlington or Monroe you can't file a small claim, leaving it to only those who can afford private transportation. Not accessible to the poor. read more

needed paperwork on getting a restraining order. The woman was very curt and cold. She told me all the messages I had were too much, a judge only looks at 10 pieces, and it's a short hearing so pretty much there isn't time for that. To treat people who are scared/paranoid like they aren't going through something is horrible. None of the stuff she said bothered me, but it was her tone of voice when she said it. Today I filed in the south county court and when I asked the clerk about the 10 pieces of evidence she informed me that wasn't true and the judge wants all evidence. Luckily I had it with me just incase, but that's what made me write this review for that woman. I can let go of lack of empathy and pride in your job, but to lie to that magnitude makes me feel racism was involved. The older white woman tells me only 10 pieces of evidence, but the minority clerk tells you otherwise. Minority women going here to get help on a restraining order take heed she will misinform you so do your research yourself. Go to South County Court in Edmonds. They are much more helpful. On top of misinforming you she will make you realize why women don't report crimes. read more

First time in today with my laborer. The department where restraining orders are filled was absolutely terrible. They refused to give a name but the blonde lady with blue eyes (the only blonde hair at the time) was just mean. It's really sad to see a young man get abused in every aspect of the word and to have multiple serious crimes committed against him but because the opposition filled paperwork first there's nothing they can do. I'm not expecting the four seasons here but why the instant hostility? I mean the hate in this women's voice before this kid could speak blew my mind. By the time anything can be done it will be to late we get that but why the anger why so degrading and condescending. I pray for her and I pray for anyone with such disgust and hate in there heart. read more
