What happened to DOL's?? Already not fun the last time I went(like 4 years ago). Now they suck even more. Go online to make an appointment in August and their next available appointment is October?!? So I do the next best thing. Get there first thing before they open. I got there, well a little too early. Thought they opened at 8, so I got there at 745. No one there. Then I look and they open at 9. So I leave and find some place to go to the bathroom and return about 45 minutes before they opened. There were about 7 people in line so I rushed down to be #8. Sat and waited until they opened at 9. A lady comes out and says we have 60 open appointments today, there are no walk ups. She goes through the line handing out QR codes to scan and schedule. Guess what, since I had been on it earlier in the morning it automatically locked me out. People from the back of the line(which was well over 50 people deep were able to schedule and walk into 9am appointments. No signage or any of that. Guess getting up and being early or even being proactive gets you nowhere anymore. Couldn't even renew my license online, don't know why. Just said I wasn't eligible. This system is broke and this whole thing is a joke. So now I will be getting online at 9 am every morning hoping I can get an appointment soon. Good thing my license expires in a few days. They should send you a reminder a year before your license expires and have a scheduled date attached to it. If you miss it, it's on you. But if you make it, well that a way for this dumb system to improve a little better. We're all busy, and though I'd did know I was coming up on expired, no one told me the shit show of renewing. Go back to the old days, or open more facilities. Shouldn't even be a 1 star. read more

I had an appointment at this office to renew my enhanced license and it was SO easy and fast! I got several reminder emails and texts. When I got there, I had a text message that let me check in and gave me a confirmation number. I entered the building to two smiling employees that welcomed me. There was clear signage as to which number was being served. Lots of seating was available. I waited no more than 5 minutes before my number was called. The man helping me was friendly and gave excellent directions as to what I needed to do. I was impressed with the overall experience. Whatever problems this location had in the past, they have evaporated. I was in and out in ten minutes. Customer service (two reps) was seamless. My agent, Bridget, was fun and helpful (and made sure my picture looked good!) Don't hesitate to make an appointment here. I wish their website was more forthcoming, to inform the public that they have gone completely appointment based. Please save yourself some time and frustration by scheduling an appt online. As of today they are scheduling appointments into the last week of August. My license does not expire for another 10 weeks , but because of travel and having to update my passport, I went in as a walk- in yesterday to see if perhaps they could fit me in for same day service. I was told along with a dozen or so other people standing in line, that unless we had an appt. we could not be served. We were given a sheet of paper with a QR code to scan the following day for a small smattering of same day appts that they open up at exactly 9am. I scanned this QR code at exactly 9am this morning and it automatically directed me to August 24th. I went back in to this location this morning to find out exactly how many appointments they open up in the morning, and found out it is only roughly about 30 slots and they get snapped up quickly. They make zero accommodation for walk-ins. Incredibly frustrating. read more

Was first in line! Started waiting at 7;45 waited an hour and 20 about got inside and waited 4 minutes for my number and was out of there within less than 10 mins. Very good place to go to. If you want quick easy done try to be the first there. People with appointments do come first but they do take walk ins right after. Good luck! read more

This location has a serious bottleneck. I arrived at 8:30 AM and still had to wait an hour and a half outside. Once inside, the teller was painfully slow, needing constant clarification for every question. If you're coming here, do yourself a favor; call ahead or use ChatGPT to get your questions answered beforehand. That way, we can all just get our numbers and move on. Also, to the last-minute internationals trying to cut the line; back of the line. Some of us are here due to stolen IDs or other urgent matters. This is my favorite place to renew my license. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 20 mins from the time I enter to the time I'm paying before leaving. They have a great system, and I appreciate their speed in getting people in and out quickly as well as uphold a nice level of pleasantries unlike other dmv locations of horror I've only heard stories about. read more

I needed to renew my enhanced drivers license within the next ten days before it expired. I went to the DOL website and saw that I couldn't get an appointment until September! Of course, the procrastination was all on me! My only option was to show up as a walk in. I read a review that said don't go to the Everett location on a Monday if you're trying for a walk-in spot, because all the other locations in the area are closed on Mondays. I decided to take a chance anyway, since I was up against the expiration date. I'm glad I did, because I was in and out in 1 1/2 hours. Other reviewers said to expect a 3-4 hour wait if you don't have an appointment. I got in a fairly lengthy line before the doors opened at 9:00. The process of getting people in went very smoothly and the staff were all friendly. Bill processed my renewal in an efficient, friendly and personable manner. The Everett branch of the Washington State Department of Licensing is where I got my first driver's license. I was 16 years old when I took the driven and the written tests here (about 12 years ago). My dad accompanied me and we arrived ahead of my scheduled appointment so I could do some last practicing before the driven test if I wanted. That was a good choice as I had not previously driven in the area. The people I interacted with were all nice and the driven test went well. I got a 98 on the driven test (-2 for going wide on my backing around a corner) and passed the written test as well. Then went to the counter to get my picture taken and get my temporary license. The worker who took my picture and got my last information for the license following the test was talkative and friendly. I was so happy everything went well. My daughter passed her drivers test today and was super excited to get her license. Everyone was super nice when we came in, we waited only 15 minutes. We got to counter 2 and were greeted with a smile. This guy was very cheerful and helpful. I made a mistake and accidentally grabbed my old license which was not expired, but had my old address on it so it did not match my daughter's address. In order for my daughter to get her license, I had to prove I was her parent by having the same address as her. I asked the man if I could run home and my daughter could sit back down and wait. He asked how far I live and I said 4 minutes. He said yes, go ahead and run home and get the correct license and let the woman up front know when you are back. I let her know I was leaving and would be right back. She got an attitude and said "at 4pm, you are leaving and going to come back? We are not allowed to do that!" I told her I was just doing what I was told was ok. I told her I lived only 4 minutes away. She said "fine" and made me feel bad like I was getting the other employee in trouble. I left at 4:11pm and returned at 4:18pm. I told her I was back and she rolled her eyes and said ok. I really hope I didn't get that wonderful guy at counter 2 into trouble. He never made us feel bad or like a burden. He seemed genuinely happy to help us and excited for my daughter to get her first license! Please retrain your front desk people not to make patrons feel like garbage for making a mistake. Yes, I should have made sure all my documentation was in order, but I don't think I deserved the rudeness. read more

Everyone was very friendly except one lady. The lady working window 3 today was awful. Super rude, wasn't concerned with why I was there and tried to do something completely different. Didn't update ANY of my information like I was told she would. Made a quick and easy experience horrible UPDATE: I was actually contacted by management for this concern. The woman was wonderful, understanding and helpful. The rude employee had actually caused me an immense amount of stress, leaving me in tears. Compared to other states' DMVs, this was a fairly pleasant experience. I didn't have to wait very long, and the staff were even friendly. What does suck is the fees if you pay by credit card--bring cash or check if you can. As a newbie, I was a little confused by the process though, as after I paid my fee, the clerk didn't tell me what to do and expected me just to know. So in my late-day haze, I just left after getting my receipt, soon realizing I had no temp license... So I went back in and asked another clerk what to do, and he laughed and said he'd been calling me to take my picture. That's much better than acting like I'm an idiot (though he probably was laughing AT me). Either way, he was pleasant and took my picture without making me wait despite my idiocy. My picture sucked, but that's another story. At least now I have my WA license. Bottom line: Much better than your typical DMV. read more

My license expires tomorrow. I panicked and rushed over to this place expecting long wait times. I checked in and was directed to a roped off line with no one in it. People were sitting and waiting...maybe new drivers I dunno. But from the time I checked in and left the facility took all of 5min. I left with a new temporary drivers license in hand. Whew!! I read all of the negative reviews of this location but decided to go anyway as I live very close. I'm not really sure what other people are talking about. This was the quickest I have ever been in and out of a DMV in my life. (40 years of life, 24 years of driving and have held a license in 4 states). The employees were extremely polite. I believe the way to treat people is to be polite until you're given a reason not to be. Maybe if more people took that attitude then they would have better experience at DOL. And the guy at window number two is very unprofessional, he started yelling at me in front of everyone because they didn't have my current address in their system! That's ridiculous! Alright my expectations were low, but jeez this place was great! In for a license renewal, greeted at the door and told directly where to go. Stood in line for maybe 3-4 minutes, then bam I was off to the races: gave all my info, sent to a picture booth, sent to a payment desk, out the door. Maybe 10-15 minutes max? Every time I have been there, it is the picture of inefficiency. The staff is trying to satisfy the needs of the clients. This is hindered by the system structure. As a side note, i found it very disturbing to watch people in wheelchairs trying to gain access. There are no electric access hand pads or automated doors. No staff tried to assist the 5 people I saw enter through the doorway that was barely wide enough for them to fit through. For a state agency, I find this unacceptable, to say the least. read more

It's horrible every time people walk into a DOL here in WA. Are there any decent ones out there?! It's always like this, even the DMV in California, rude employees most of the time. Only about 20% of the employees are actually cool and helpful. I hope they get their act together with this place. We should be allowed to have competition in this area for giving out ID's and tests, instead of having it run by a government agency! In fact, when the post office had competition with Fedex and UPS, they improved their service right away. Sometimes government employees simply don't care, and should be terminated immediately when there's too many complaints. I'm sure there's plenty of people who would like to take their jobs. With all fairness, they do have a restroom and water fountain (hoping that it's safe to drink). It's an old building that could use some updating. However, Everett is an old city that needs a makeover. There are some crazy weirdos who come here, so I can understand why most employees are rude. I hope that more reviewers write their stories here and get the DOL to read them to improve their quality of service. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't our tax dollars pay their salaries? If so, public service should never be like this, or maybe it's just certain areas. read more

First off if you have to go to the DOL for anything you can bet you are going to have a crappy day.....That being said this is not the best one to go to if you have to go. limited parking, lots of transients around the building. The lines are long and the room is small with not enough chairs to seat everyone who comes in. There is 1 restroom that you will share with the whole room so try and hold it if you can. Most people stand around the room against the wall and zombie stare at the monitor hoping their number is called next. There is also a wall that looks open to stand against but is not and you will get yelled at if you get near the area because its a testing area. Of course there is no sign there letting us know about this forbidden area so every hour or so as the numbers increase someone will start yelling for people to move it. I was there all day and never seen anyone testing. They work in a 3 phase system once you get a number you will be called up 3 different times the first time they ask what you need and then you sit back down till they call you to the person who does that thing you need at the DOL. Then when you are called up again they do the work or take the pics then you sit down again or stand against the wall till they call you up for the final empty your wallet stage. This whole system can take at least 3 hours or more and you are held hostage in this sweat box until the system is complete. The staff is 80/20 some are angry and not tolerant of any mistakes on your part and they freely yell and belittle you. The other guy is wonderful happy and helpful I wish I knew his name cuz if it wasn't for him I would never drive just so I didn't have to go in a DOL again. To sum it up I've seen worse like Las Vegas DOL was a nightmare but this place is a close second the Smoky Point DOL is much better go there. Just get there early. Good luck read more

The employees here are always so bitter. They always seem to be annoyed and irritated that they will end up snapping at you. A one star rating is being generous. Both times I have renewed my license at the Everett location, I have waited almost 2 hours just to be told I didn't bring the "correct" documentation. I checked the dol.wa.gov website before I went in to make sure I had the documentation they required. It seems like they look for any excuse to not help you after you've waited in the very dirty DMV office. Gross. Very unhelpful employees. Great place to go if you want to ruin your day. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Terrible service. they look for ways to say "no" whenever possible. Waited for 1.5 hours today before they told my wife that her paperwork was dated 9 days too old so they refused to help. This was despite the fact that the DOL website reflected that our papers were just fine. When I talked to a supervisor, she said that the federal laws prohibited them from taking the papers... I call BS. I try to avoid this place whenever I can--but I had to go in person today. The room stinks, clearly not maintained and dirty, and the people at the counter are rude. read more

Does anyone actually like going to the DOL? This is the only location that is open on Mondays in the north end. The building is a bit run down, but the service is fantastic!!
