After the meter switch out, we were noticing surges and low power throughout the house. When I called in they said they would send out an emergency crew. Bill Meyers arrived within an hour and checked our system and found sparking in our mast connection on the street side. (Possibly the surge triggered what before was a low lying issue) He was courteous, friendly, and quickly repaired the wire connection and had us up and running within 15 minutes. New to the area and have been paying utilities on my home for the past two months. Came home at 6pm after work, with house guests, to find two notices on my door from PUD. One saying they will cut off my electric the next day, but they crossed out the date to make it today. And another saying they DID cut my power. ZERO notice. Just home to these two tags on the door. Turns out I've been paying PSG and it's supposed to be PUD. I have a severe medical condition and am pregnant so I called the emergency line and was treated like a criminal. Norm, who answered, told me 'this isn't an emergency and if it was why didn't you buy a generator'... I pay my bills, I didn't think I needed a generator -- especially when I have NO IDEA I was paying the wrong company! After 30min he FINALLY said he could have someone turn on the power tonight, after refusing for me to talk to a manager or anyone. Absurd. Had such an amazing experience! We had a tree within 10ft of a power line and the PUD guys came over and carefully began taking it down (I had the choice to have it trimmed or removed). They cleaned up SO WELL and stacked my wood nicely so that I could transport it later. I highly recommend snoho PUD tree service. Thank you team for keeping my family and community safe! read more

They unfairly targeted my home several years ago and changed my meter (with no noticed, they just showed up) for no reason other than I have a large square footage house (my neighbors still have the old style meters, as does my garage). Now we have all received notice PUD will change our meters to WiFi, so we all can be tracked in real time giving yet another monopoly power over the people so that you can be tracked when you are home or possibly on vacation (yes their system can be hacked like anyone else's~ I wonder if home theft will increase). Additionally, the company will be able to better track and charge higher rates during peak usage in the future. No one, no company should be able to track when and where we are and what we are doing! PUD approved the new meter program during COVID shut down, so little public comment was received, yet all of these concerns were voiced and ignored. Why is no one looking at all the e-trash and greenhouse emissions being exposed by these continual upgrades by large corporations, but our rates will go up for the upgrade and our taxes are increasing to combat global warming . . . where does it end? read more

The Snohomish county PUD is generally great a restoring power outages in a timely manner, and for that I am grateful. However, in our current situation I have been confused and uninformed. I have been told via official website I have power, then, on the way, then under investigation, and then nothing. I am cold. My food is going bad. I just want answers. Will this review do anything? When I still got my bill every other month, things were great... but as soon as they switched to monthly it went downhill. They would still only read the meter every other month and would estimate the ones between based on the previous years usage... thing is... I live in an apartment! The previous year wasn't even ME! So I would go 150/mo... 239/mo... 145/mo... 319.00/mo... No consistency! And my last bill? $25.00! I guess they finally sent someone to actually read the meter!!! Honestly... I feel like this overcharging and then fixing it in the subsequent month should be illegal. I'm paying for service NOT rendered. It's like they are taking out a loan on which I'm footing the bill and I don't even get to earn INTEREST. For Pete's sake, SCPUD, get your act together. You wanted to charge us monthly SOooo bad, why didn't you make sure your system was actually set up for it, first? It's unfair to ask your customers to foot the bill for your upgrade learning curve. read more

It's Oct 2021 and our meters are still not being properly checked because of "Covid safety issues". Really? You guys are still going with that? I'm told by customer service the reason our bill is triple the amount every third month is because drivers can't check meters because of Covid safety issues. I've been told this same story for over a year and it doesn't add up. If you're short staff that's one thing but this? I guess being a loyal paying customer means nothing to them. read more

Snohomish PUD has done it AGAIN... Service is generally good when I go in and talk to reps and pay bills, but unfortunately the billing and notification system is archaic. On for several years I've had an old number associated to my account and instead of updating it properly after many requests (or handling a customer appropriately) I typically get notified of missed billing when I return home to the power being shutoff. In the age of digital technology getting a hold of a customer who spends thousands each year on services/power would reasonably drive good business sense, but I believe Snohomish PUD has taken a very specific decision to drive revenue and labor hours for workers on re-connection visits/charges, which is simply a bad business practice. If I had any other choice than Snohomish PUD for services I would make a change in an instant based just upon bad billing experiences. read more

One month after I set the autopay, I paid twice to PUD. Then I withdrew one payment from the bank. But the PUD charged me $20 return fee. When I called, the customer representative told me to call my bank. She said because my bank charged them, so they had to charge me. If my bank return the fees to them, they'll return it to my account. When I called my bank, the representative told me the bank won't charge a company for that money. When I recalled the PUD, she told me that even though I paid twice that month and didn't owe anything to PUD, she still couldn't waive the $20, because she was charged from her bank... I understand there might be fees like administrative expenses. However, this is a truly bad experience, because I was instructed to do this and that, but nothing come out. read more

Snohomish PUD is the a great example of con artistry taken to the next level of business. For the month of February due to the snow they estimated our bill. Which isn't exactly fair because they based their estimate off of whoever was living in our apartment a year ago. Then for the month of March they came out and did a reading which increased our bill by over $80. We did not do anything differently we used less heat. We were home less often. We were very electric conscious this month. Yet our bill had increased by 30%. They then are saying they are "splitting the difference of the last two months usage based on the reading they got to justify this payment." I had tried to explain to them that this justification they were using was absurd and confusing. The readings they used enable them to take more money. It would be similar to if an electric company priced you every month for your highest usage time period in a whole year. They will pull data from your usage and bill you in whatever way makes them more money. To note: I have never had an issue with electric companies in any of the other states I've lived in. Electric bills always made sense and the pricing always seemed fair. This is a con built into business practice. Unfortunately we are left with no other options than to work with a company without integrity to justify its billing. Sno-PUD is disgraceful. read more

PUD at Lynwood have been SO helpful to me...They have always worked with me in the past in paying my bills...by giving me extra time to earn the money to keep current...Bu they have gone above and beyond. Doralynn helped me in putting me on an average payment plan and made it so I am able to pay rent,cable and buy groceries. I real feel like they are unlike any other utility where they are just WAITINg to shut you down and collect ever dime to turn back on your power..they make every attempt NOT to have to turn off your power! A semi truck driver took out a pole so PUD had to shut off all the power in the area to fix it. A courtesy call to the businesses in the area letting them know the power was going to be turned off would have been great customer service. read more

I came here because I want to change the letter shown as two people names. It did cost me $160 for changing the name on the letter. A week later the letter came back with one name on it. I went back and met the same old lady, so I asked her why the letter shown only one name instead of two? She said if you want the letter to shown as two names then you have to pay for another $160....???? The old lady messed up the first place and now she want to charge me for another $160 for that??? For what??? And the way she talked to me and treating me like I was some kind of homeless....very disrespectful. I believe she's in counter #5 read more

Auto-Pay beware! I set up my account with auto-pay using my banking info and have never had an issue until today. But it's kind of a big issue. I received a Disconnection Notice in the mail stating I was several months behind. I called to see what's up. The woman on the phone was pleasant . . . at first. She said there was a limit to how much they could take each month and ONE month's bill had exceeded it. They didn't take the current amounts, just kept piling it on. I never received a call, or anything in the mail until today. The woman rudely informed me they had sent me ONE email MONTHS ago. There was no understanding there. Just condescension. I asked how many emails she received in a week and if she managed to carefully read all of them, spam folder and all. Her response was to just keep repeating 'You had been notified'. No offer of waiving late fees, she wouldn't even admit that this is kind of a problem. So if you sign up for auto-pay . . . be VERY diligent about checking your account. Defeats the purpose and ease of auto-pay, but trust me, they want you to get behind because the late fees are no joke. Wish I had a better option for a utility company. read more

When our house lights started getting intermittently dimmer and brighter it was time to call SnoPUD. It was a Sunday and the serviceman came out within an hour of calling. He checked everything on their end of the meter and even took a look inside at our panel. His assessment was that there was nothing wrong on their side of the meter but he would have someone come out the next day and put a voltage recorder on our meter just to be sure. Next day we find a voltage recorder has been installed. And our lights are no longer flickering for some reason. A couple days later, a SnoPUD crew is out on our driveway preparing to replace some connectors in in the small plastic vault at the end of the driveway. The crew chief showed me the connectors and said they were in poor shape. In two hours they had replaced the connectors and put in a larger vault box. Thank you SnoPUD! Washington is blessed with a number of public utility districts entrusted to provide electric power and beholden to the public with elected commissioners. This is democracy folks. read more

Random partial power outage. Not breaker/reset related. Determined that only one-half of power was coming into home. Called PUD, and within 15 minutes, truck to assess situation arrived, and within 5 minutes, determined cause. In about 45 minutes, two trucks/four PUD workers (one was Keith Ellis) arrived. Worked quickly to repair burnt wire. Friendly, punctual and very competent at job. Definitely a 5 star. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. I had my account setup as a landlord account so that whenever my tenants called and disconnected their service it would automatically change to me. Well they changed systems so they lost my landlord account. So when my tenants moved and canceled their service it didn't move over to me as it was supposed to and so they shut off the power while my husband was at the house and didn't say anything to him. Then when I called they said they would never shut it off with someone there, but they did. Then they charged $70 for a reconnect fee and a $15 Accout Setup fed, except I already had an account which their new system didn't transfer over because it didn't have activity. Well of course it didn't, it was a landlord account. Oh and then my new account had the wrong mailing address and wrong name even though it was supposed to have been connected to my primary account. They are a disaster and I wish I could get my power from someone else. read more

This is a terrible company. In April of 2015 an employee of theirs was checking the meters on my house and my neighbors dog ran after him so he ran and jumped on my car scratching it in SEVERAL places. I tried contacting PUD for months to file a claim and couldn't get anyone to respond. After finally getting someone to get back to me the first person who was supposed to come and appraise the damage on my car never showed up. I finally got it appraised and after them continuously lowering the amount they were going to give me I signed off on an amount that will not even fix my car completely. I was told they were to send out my check within 2 weeks of signing the paperwork. It has now been a month and I have no check and they are now telling me they can't issue a check for at least another month because their only employee to issue checks is on vacation. This is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I have tried for 7 months to get this figured out and they continue to put me through the ringer.
