Our order: rack of ribs, shepherds pie, fox burger, fries & foxtail ale. The meat literally fell off the bones, no knife needed. Smothered in their tangy in-house BBQ sauce, this was a crowd pleaser. Shepherd's pie was extremely soft and creamy, and it was gentle to the taste buds and stomach. I enjoyed the specially brewed ale, not too hoppy and paired great with the spread. The front door gives a first impression of a dingy restaurant. Don't be put off. We were seated on the rooftop patio which was pleasant and made even better by the helpful and friendly waitress. She made excellent recommendations. We had their award-winning Fire Daddy Burger and Chicken Basil Sandwich. Both were very good and the burger had a nice different maple flavour. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat on the rooftop deck where we had a shaded table. Quite a busy spot with some people opting for full sun seats. I don't envy the servers having to carry all the plates up the stairs. Food was good and portions were large, with a good variety of offerings including sandwiches and salads, burgers and fries, breakfast until 2 on weekends. Kids get crayons and a big placement to keep them busy instead of staring at a device. Looks like a fun pub, with lots of tables downstairs and a good selection of alcoholic beverages. Food is mediocre. My chicken salad was all minced mushy veggies. The beer and wine selections were decent with generous pours. The staff was friendly and on top of things. Never have we ever been in a place where the din of noise was so painful. Won't be back there. And we'd originally planned to eat there 2 nights while in Fredericton. read more

The Snooty is a local staple, everyone has been here and had a time. The food is your essential pub food, nothing wrong with it, good burgers, wraps, and salads. I'd say they have some of the best and most consistent pub food in the city, and always a good local atmosphere going on. On busy nights, especially during one of the festivals, there can be a line up to get in but the line tends to move quickly as the staff seem to be deft at finding a spot for you. In the warmer months they have a really nice patio up above the pub. It's nice to spend a long lunch or just hang out with pals up there. read more

I can't understand why my AAA guide completely ignored Snooty Fox. Their loss, as well as the loss for folks who rely only on their recommendations. Perhaps a snicker for American beer enthusiasts - right after we were seated, our waiter told us, very exuberantly, about the new beer selection they had, Shock Top. After we snickered for a few moments ourselves, we explained we were Americans from the northeast who were already familiar. We then asked him to recommend something local. His suggestion was something from Picaroons. We both tried the Foxtail Ale ($5.53), which is an amber lager. It was an excellent suggestion. I enjoyed mine so much I had a second one as "dessert." I will definitely look for Picaroons at my local beer specialty store in Poughkeepsie, Half Time. Tuesdays are half-price wings, so we ordered a pound of medium-spiced boneless wings and poutine. I figured here, the poutine would be extremely authentic, and it was! The boneless wings were of correct spiciness, and clearly Buffalo style. But I was also expecting sides of bleu cheese and celery - or is including those with wings just an American thing? (feedback appreciated on that) My order, a rack o'ribs, with a salad instead of fries ($16.99 + $1.99 for the substitute), is served with their own Snooty sauce. The ribs were generally tender - maybe not the tenderest I've ever had, but most of the ribs did come off the bone easily. Any complaints I might have had about some ribs not being perfectly tender was more than compensated for by the fantastic sauce. "Snooty" is a justifiable term for it. We also had a great waiter, with whom the back and forth banter made dinner an even more enjoyable experience. Are you listening, AAA? read more

Service was amazing, the bartender was very busy but made time for all of his visitors and customers at the bar, starting conversations with all of them. We did not order any food, but the drinks we ordered were amazing, and the bartender had good draft recommendations as well. The atmosphere was nice, space may have been slightly small considering the large amount of people in there, however it was also a saturday night so that is to be expected. I was feeling a bit hungry and had the butter chicken dinner sized option on rice. The curry was flavorful but a bit more on the tomato tasing flavours. It wasn't too oily and it was served with naan and wild grain rice. I paired it with the Pumphouse Radler from Moncton, NB. Service was a bit slow but it allowed for good conversation with friends. Went there 3 night while in Freddy, staff always greats you with a smile and the food is outstanding for a pub. Yes I could have gone elsewhere however the specials are what drive it home. I've been a fan of the Snooty Fox for ~15 years! It's a great pub with a cozy atmosphere. If you like to people watch, the front booths are perfect as they look out onto Regent St. & Queen St. There are a few other booths up front and I noticed on a visit last week that they have expanded and now have another seating area up front as well. In the middle section it's darker with tables and a few large booths and then there's a space at the back for larger parties. There's even more seating available upstairs on the rooftop patio (during summer weather)! I believe I've enjoyed every meal that I've had at the Snooty Fox. I'm always a fan of the BBQ Chicken Nachos (the pickles & feta help cut the sweetness of the sauce) and they have a great lunch menu too. Your best bet for parking (besides limited street parking) is either in the parking lot behind the library & Officer's Square or at the Convention Centre by the Playhouse ($1/h). This is a great place to try out different pints - try out the Foxtail (Foxtale?) Ale while is only available there! If you're not into beer, they also make great cocktails. This is the go-to place on wednesday night, they have half price appetizers and they are SO good! their spinach dip is the best i've ever had, period. it's great for a couple of people or groups/parties as well. they always have great music playing and you don't have to worry about being loud and having fun. i've been more than a dozen times and never once had a bad experience. i've never eaten there when there weren't a ton of other people there, so it's not unusual to wait a bit for a table. their staff is friendly, and most of them have been there forever, which is a good sign in the restaurant buisness. overall it's a great place for the young and the young at heart. read more

We had this restaurant recommended by the clerk at our hotel. We brought in a group of 4 on a Saturday night and were seated without problem. Your experience may vary. Nevertheless, the menu was varied enough that we all found something appropriate among 4 varied eaters. My wife raved over the spinach salad with maple syrup/bacon dressing. It also included red onion, 1/2 hard boiled egg, tomato. Sister-in-law had a vegetable/cashew stir-fry including noodles, broccoli, various veggies and a light cooking sauce. The rest included fish tacos (flour tortillas, haddock, red cabbage/carrot slaw and wasabi mayonaise and a sirloin steak (far better quality of beef than most sirloins), partially steamed and grilled carrots with zucchini slices between the individual baby carrots. An unusual but good side dish. The downside was the stirfry was returned due to a hair (then comped) as was a forgotten side fried onions for my steak. The upside (the stirfry was comped as I said) and the manager gave the table a $25 certificate for a future visit. Since we aren't locals (2 from California, one from Montreal and one from Toronto) they redeemed the certificate for tonight's meal. They went the full distance for us.
