DJ Purdy's Lounge is located inside the Delta Hotel Fredericton and is bartended there by Andrew. My girlfriend and I came in one afternoon for lunch and I ordered the Irish Hog (their special at the time), my girlfriend had the lobster roll which was so good we had to go back a second time (for her, not me LOL fun sad fact: I'm allergic to lobster). Andrew could not have been a better server, he even got a bottle and poured soft drinks in there for us to refill ourselves. Convenient for him and for us! The Irish Hog was delicious, the applewood smoked bacon and a couple of other things that were on that burger... What I didn't like about it though was that the burger was very small and the buns were huge -- so that wasn't the best but everything else was pretty good. I'd give this a 3.5/5 If you're in the area, it's definitely somewhere you'd want to stop by! :) read more

Had lunch here on Thursday. This lounge is seat yourself and there is no host. We were served by Andrew who was excellent. I ordered the lobster roll and substituted for the fries for a salad. Lobster roll was really good - lots of lobster meat mixed with slaw and mayonnaise. Lobster was really fresh! Huge portions. Not the best lobster roll I've had in town but I'll definitely come back. read more

The restaurant is very nice, the view is stunning of the pool and waterway. This was our first stop on our family pub crawl. We ran into the same issues that others did before us, the staff. Sorry to say there were very few people in the restaurant and we had to wait about 20 minutes before my brother in law finally went to the staff to ask for service. We only stayed for one! Although the reviews have been few and not so great, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff and savory options offered on the menu. I ordered a humus dish that was packed with mouthwatering flavors. My husband ordered on the light side and had deep fried wings that came crispy and flavor-filled. The sauces were outstanding. We also ordered a bottle of red wine (an Argentinean blend) that was silky, full bodied, yet dry. The ambience was quieting with a little Sinatra playing in the background. And let's not forget dessert! The lemon & lavender cheesecake was crazy good... it competed well against my husband's strawberry rhubarb tart. We'll make this a destination dinner again! read more

Stopped by on our way from Halifax to Quebec City. Looked good based on reviews. We arrived 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon with only a few tables seated. We then waited almost an hour for any food whatsoever to show up. We ordered basics like the seafood chowder and hot dogs, grilled cheese and burgers. How it took this long is beyond me. The chowder arrived with a burnt film on it because it was sitting under a lamp for a long time. The grilled cheese was not cooked through. The burger was good but the quinoa burger was just some fried quinoa that fell apart. The hot dog was good. People behind us waited a long time for a root beer Meanwhile on the pool deck there was 4 servers standing around. We love the Delta hotel in Waterloo but this now was a disaster. Not cool Delta. 1:20 to get burgers and eat. Way behind our schedule now. Not recommended. read more

Spent a week at this hotel and ate all my dinners at the hotel bar/resto. So I'm a bit of an expert at the unfortunately-named 'DJ Purdy's', circa Feb 2018. Nice room features lots of tables, although many of them are of the 'lounge' sort, so not ideal for eating. 4 tv's, all on sports, all on mute. As most of the time it was sports talk shows, I suggested to a server that they use closed captioning so that one could at least read what's being said, as is done at many other bars. She said she had no idea how to do that. Great view of the majestic St. John (Wolastoq) river. Red wine - I don't understand why so many half-decent restaurants serve red wine at room temperature (WARM room temp at that) but this place does too. Beer- New Brunswick has an AMAZING small brewer scene and this bar stocks just a couple. A real shame. It's not on the menu but unless you're very hungry, ask about 1/2 size portions, because some portions here are very big. I found things VERY hit and miss here, so offer the following itemized reviews, with the caveat that your taste, of course, may not be mine. In order I had the: * Seafood bisque/stew/soup - excellent * Cod - wrapped in bacon, fingerling potatoes, broccolini - amazing. I had the pinot grigio with this and it was an excellent match. Extra points for decently-sourced fish. * Salmon w mashed potatoes, veg - good but the cod is much better and for a dollar less * Mussels - Excellent. Large portion for $12. * Pad thai - poor, $20 + $3 more for added rubbery chicken is way overpriced for this. I was expecting to be wowed for that money but was instead treated to a seriously sub-standard pad thai that was heavy in sauce but light on the thai flavours that can make this dish so yummy. No cilantro! Hardly even any peanut flavouring. Fish sauce? Tomato sauce? Undetectable. Avoid. * Nachos - fair quality, huge portion. Two of us shared the 1/2-size portion, thinking it an appetizer. It ended up being dinner for both of us and could have fed another, very hungry person, if not two more. * Veg dip - fair, for what it is. * Caesar salad - very large, good quality, with plentiful chunks of parmesan and bacon, and not over-dressed. This would make a perfectly large appetizer for two. * Pizza - a real letdown. Curiously, two of the three menu pizza choices are very meat-heavy, so I opted for the vegetarian. Thin crust pizza should be crisp; this crust was underdone, soft, and floppy. I had to cut it up and eat it with a fork. There was also too much mozzarella and too few vegetables. And I forgot: way too salty. Avoid. * Green Salad - A winner. Nice greens, nuts, cheese, tomato. 1/2 order makes for a more-than-large-enough appetizer. * Chicken Wings - Very good, large and moist. I ordered 'bbq' which tasted like artificial smoke so I wouldn't go with that again. * Fries - excellent. * Prime rib- avail Fri & Sat only. Excellent. Again, very large portion at a great price. * Cod, again. Not as great as the first time but still a winner. read more

I lived in Fredericton and stayed here during my relocation time in September. I have been to this hotel and restaurant on several occasions and each visit you experience something different. No consistency what so ever. The service and food left a lot to be desired this time around. The servers do not pay attention to tables or when new guests arrive. No greeting and waited at least 10 mins for anyone to acknowledge us. Server was not friendly and had the attitude of not even wanting to be there. Had to ask for menus. Drinks/beverages took sometime to come and we didn't order another as we were not asked. Which was a waste and def reflected the amount of cocktails we would have consumed had we had been asked. No water provided or refill offer to those that had water. Food came and we had no cutlery, salt and pepper or side plates. We asked and the server brought the stuff when he got a minute which meant our food sat to get cold. No steak knives were ever provided even after asking so we used the dull knife provided. The food left a lot to be desired. I had fish and chips and once I cut the fish the grease just oozed out. Almost as though the grease was not hot enough. Steaks were all cooked wrong - no one got the cook temp they had asked for. I enjoy DJ Purdy's from time to time but they really need to address these inconsistency with their servers and food. If you only looking for one beverage and low quality food go here. If your looking for something more head into town. read more

Good environment, friendly staff. Second time we come here. First time I had the lobster roll which, aside from the bun being too big, was great. Second time, it wasn't available due to high market prices so we both had chicken burgers on a ciabatta bun. Food was okay. I had the Ooh Baby with a Hero salad and Matt had the Buffalo bite burger with ff. Our only complaints are: his chicken could have been crispier and my salad had too much vinaigrette. Alcohol is very pricy. Overall nice place to relax after a long drive. read more

Food was mediocre for the price I expected better since I have been here before! Staff was polite but not very attentive.

Great burger; go with the house salad. Pricy but consistent and well-balanced. Nachos are expertly constructed if you are in a group. Graystone black IPA on tap, which is a good sign. Avoid the pizza and lobster roll. Couldn't hurt for them to bring in Patagonia Pale Ale as well. Good atmosphere, lots of business travellers but locals too. While the ambiance and pricing would make you think this is a fine dining establishment, the service and food will make you reconsider. After being seated for a half hour the server felt kind enough to grace us with her presence, at which time we received our menus. Another 15 minutes passed before she took our order. After our order was taken, we were asked to move to a less than ideal part of the restaurant either next to the door people walk in and out of to smoke, or next to a rowdy party of 10. We asked for a drink menu once relocated, which was promptly provided, but not followed up on for about another 20 minutes. We decided that we had better not order drinks, or we may be several years older before leaving. When finally our food arrived it was cooler than ideal, the Thyme chicken was bland and flavorless. The lobster linguine would more properly be described as a lobster flavored linguine as it contained very little meat. When finally it was time to pay and leave we could overhear another server telling ours that perhaps she should get us the bill because we were getting restless, the understatement of the century. I paid my approximately $60 with a well deserved 1 cent tip and informed the server of the less than ideal service No refund was offered and no attempts to apologize were made. This place is only suited for those who would prefer to wait a long time, eat cold food and then leave smelling like cigarettes. read more
