But I enjoy the temporary exhibitions they install. I've been going to the SAM for more than 20 years. I can't afford to be a member or pay the regular admission, so I'm excited to go on Free First Thursdays. It's such a wonderful opportunity and program to those who can't afford to view art, but appreciate it.

The Frye Art Museum, located in downtown Seattle, was found on Yelp. I did notice that people said…read morenot to have a car so we walked here from the hotel which is about a 20-minute walk. Some uphill walks but it was a nice walk actually. The museum is free which is nice you walk through and it is pretty much filled with many unique rooms, each with different pieces of art. It was pretty quiet but I do enjoy the placement of every piece. It's not a big museum so this probably won't take up so much time.

We lots of discipline, we got our tickets and entered the incredible children's museum. You walk into a woodland wonderland and it only gets better from there. We are pretty partial to our home museum in Cincinnati and haven't found a better one but this comes very close. Theres so many interactive areas. There is a treehouse down toward the right when you walk in along with a small town. A walk on airplane that allows kids to work with parcels, a train engine you can walk into with model train set behind. A water station as well as stairs to the outdoor portion with an extensive jungle gym, musical instruments, mini golf, and an excavation site with dinosaurs! They had science exhibits for older kids and younger kids alike. A toddler area as well. You could keep any kid toddler to about 10 years of age entertained for hours. Parking isn't free unless you can snag a coveted spot in front but it's not too pricey. Admission is $22 a person. They have last half hour free during summer which is nice. Staff are dressed in purple and nothing but kind and friendly. There is a cafe at the top (well, a "food truck" theme) and tables and benches to eat. Looked like you could pack your own food. Also looked like you could host birthday parties and field trips. All in all, impressive children's museum. We can't wait to come back!

Museum of Pop Culture took me a decade to finally go. Waited too long…read more Back when Frank Gehry was still around, I lived next to Linda's Tavern, the last place Kurt Cobain was seen. Wild to be here now and the Cobain exhibit is gone after all these years, and so has Frank (RIP); architectural genius. The building still hits. The architecture alone is worth it. Sci-fi, horror, and fantasy exhibits carry the experience. At this point, I'd come back for the rotating shows, Rebels & Icons on the 15th, and the upstairs Lounge Bar. Low key hidden, solid pop art food/drinks, complimentary chips with their own seasoning, and great service. The museum should separate this bar on Yelp, I want to review this separately.(hint) That combo makes the membership make sense.

This is a great place for pop culture enthusiasts, guitar lovers and people who love to play with…read moremusic instruments and song composing. Because this place has a wonderful collection of legendary guitars and guitarists. One the second floor there a huge sound lab with booths of different instruments and individual rooms to do sound engineering. The game room section had several stations to try out different home made games. Other than these major features, there are few more artifacts from music, sports and movie world are scattered around the place. In the lower floor, there's a nice cafe. There's also a makeshift gift shop with limited pop culture products. We came to the museum around noon. Our tickets were part of CityPass. We spend about half an hour here. Overall it was an underwhelming experience for me.

The natural history sections aren't the biggest, but the Burke uses the space well and has good…read moredensity. It's small but they manage to pack in some surprisingly big Dinos and Mammals. To me, where this museum really shines, is the Native exhibits offering both past and present history on rotation and access to working scientists. I always learn a lot when I go. When the wet lab is active may be my favorite part. Watching animal skeletons prepped. Might be a little gross for some people so check the schedule if you are squeamish. Another note for Parents is that there is a small play area on the top floor. Perfect for rainy days with the little ones. The surrounding University grounds are great to let them run around as well. There is a Starbucks at the Suzzallo Library and bathrooms too if you left the Burke and have a kid who needs to go even after they were prompted a million times before you exited the Burke! There are also tons of food options and a couple small grocery stores nearby. Which is great if you/your group have dietary needs. The light rail station is very close by and many buses drop off / pick up right across the street. Public transit to this location is quite good and I recommend it, especially since youth 18 and under are free to ride.

They do offer a small gift shop with various educational toys, activities and snacks, but they encourage parents to bring snacks. It's wheelchair friendly, but they do ask that you leave your stroller in the covered designated area, or in your car. We just brought our diaper bag and snacks, but visited the car a few times for snack breaks, which you're more than ok to do, as they allow you to come and go as you need to.

There are only about ten parking spots at the building, and nothing else within two blocks. You can't park at the library next door--there was a very over-zealous parking attendant questioning people who tried--and there's no street parking either. That's a real inconvenience in the rain with young children. I went on a Tuesday morning, and it was still very packed. It doesn't seem like they limit entry, and it felt overwhelming with so many kids. We did catch a storytime session, but it was hard to see or hear anything past the first row since the microphones weren't working. Overall, it was an okay experience --fun for little ones but very crowded and a bit pricey for a half-day activity.

It's also located right alongside a trail in town. Lots to see and not enough time if you're quickly passing through. I will be back to spend a bit more time exploring the museum and the town.

Right next door to the "famous" Roslyn Cafe…read more This small, well kept museum houses a collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the height of the town's Coal Mining boom. It is interesting to read and see how much history a tiny little town like Roslyn actually has. The museum runs on donations so remember to put a little something in the donation box if you stop through. They also have restrooms. There is so much more historical and natural attractions that Roslyn has to offer besides the typical "Northern Exposure" experience. The museum is focused on the town's actual history. I didn't have time on my trip, but if you do, I suggest taking a visit to the amazing looking historical Roslyn Cemeteries. There are 24 small cemeteries tucked into the woods on the hill not far from town. Brochures are available at the museum.
