the terrain at snowbird is wonderful , so is the snow this brings crowds, and snowbird is not good at managing them example : patrons need a way to measure the intensity of the tram line why not put an indicator light before the skier bridge? red = tram closed red flashing = full maze green = tram open green flashing = walk-ons ..so that we can better decide when to get on Peruvian Who determines the indicator's status ? simple : The person scanning tickets I'll even go a bit further in saying that they should add a live video feed w/ an overhead view of the maze on their website oh , and they also should add an RSS feed to their website for changes regarding canyon road status, terrain and lift openings/closures, and perhaps 24hr cumulative snowfall this is the information age... snowbird needs to step it up read more

Best snow but unfortunately there are definitely drunk drivers on the road to Snowbird. The bouncers at the bar will flag you if you bring a diet Pepsi in, but the bouncers refused to help me buy a cab for someone. At least Public Safety let me use their phone to call a cab for this person...they wouldn't get involved in helping to distract the man so he ended up quickly getting a ride with other drunk people. Stay on site only if you want to keep your family safe by not driving down that road! read more

This was my first time snowboarding / skiing on a mountain. I started off on a snowboard as I have spent WAY more time snowboarding, but ended up switching back to skiis which I haven't done in about 20 years. The views from the top of the mountain are stunning and the hill variety is vast. I would recommend this to all ski / snowboard fanatics!!! read more

I don't even ski or snowboard. I come here to get drunk and walk around. Sometimes there's events like Oktoberfest and I'm here for that. But trust me, I am absolutely never here for any type of physical activity and that's for sure. I only do body degradation, not the other way around. But from everything else I hear outside of their grounds, restaurants and bars, this place is totally fine. I just know nothing about their actual runs, you can figure that out for yourself. I love the Mountains so any get away in the Mountains is the best! I have always likes Snowbird! Spring and Fall are my favorite times to visit. Spent the night at the Lodge in a friends condo. It's not far from the city and easy to get to. Plenty of parking specially this time of year. My visit was just what I needed to relax for an evening. Plan on going again soon. read more

Hands down, best place for intermediate to advanced resort skiing in the world. Seriously. If you're a newbie and can't handle it, head over to Brighton. Some highlights: Mineral Basin - you can rip it all day there and not get bored. Peruvian - who needs the tram anymore? Chicadee - best place to teach a kid how to ski. Regulator Johnson - strap on the long boards and let 'em rip. Great Scott - the best pure steep run (resort) of all time (you could argue for Corbetts at Teton Village or the Baldy Chutes at Alta, but they're never open so they don't count). General Grits - lunch for under $5, what???? Deep Pow - timing is everything, and thankfully it's Utah and you typically don't need to stick around very long for a storm to pound the Wasatch Mountains with a heaping of sub-10% water content snow. It's the reason I live in Utah. It's that good. read more

I was in the area for work and had a spare afternoon, was excited to ski here. No half day pricing, rental/lift packages, nor will they honor Internet price on site. I was very disappointed to learn it would cost nearly $125 for 5 hours of activity. I had a similar situation last near and the neighboring mountain was much more accommodating. After booking a lodging/holiday brunch at Snowbird, I was disappointed and surprised to find that they only had dining availability 3 hours after check-out! It seems like basic guest service to reserve early time slots for people who are actually spending additional money for lodging and staying on site. Is Snowbird expecting guests to check out, go home and come back 3 hours later to complete their "package"? Yet again Snowbird puts no merit into customer service and disappoints simply because the terrain brings customers back time and again. read more

The resort is conveniently located and great for ski in-ski out. Lockers are located near lift ticket sales and a rental/repair shop and you can literally put your gear on and ski down the slope. They are assigned by room number with a locker code you put in similar to a room safe. The spa level rooms on the 9th floor correspond to an area of lockers with more space between the rows and benches right by the lockers to sit down while you put on your gear. The other lockers were more closely spaced and crowded and no benches nearby. Rooms were average size with a very comfortable bed and pillows. Most had a nice view of the mountains. The spa level rooms on the 9th floor allows access to the pool and hot tub on the 9th floor, which was less crowded and with minimal walking distance outside to the pool and hot tub. Our room in particular (938) was right under the restaurant upstairs and we could hear the band's music until 11 or so at night. Otherwise it was conveniently located by the elevators and right by the spa entrance. The rooms and bathrooms were well maintained and cleaned, but the decor was a bit outdated. Some towels were softer and fluffier than others. Robes were comfortable. I wish the shampoo/conditioner/bodywash/lotion/soap was better. Even the kleenex in the rooms was rough and I ended up using the ones in the hallway bathrooms by the restaurant. What really sets this place apart is the spa. While not the fanciest or newest spa I have been to, it had all the conveniences and features needed. The views of the mountains from the lounge area and hot tub/pools were spectacular. The changing rooms were quiet, comfortable, clean and private with separate showers and nice shampoo/conditioner/soap and well stocked with comb/shaving cream/razors, etc. My husband and I had 80 minutes massages after skiing on our last two days here. We both requested the same therapists the second day since the massages were excellent. I swear mine was a mind reader and knew exactly what I needed after skiing and for relaxing. Other people in our small group also had massages with other therapists and all of them reported excellent treatments. I really think the spa would be one reason I'd love to return. As for food, the Cliff Lodge itself had some pretty decent options. We had lunch at the Atrium the day we arrived and they have decent sandwiches/salads/soups. For breakfast, we had the buffet ($18, includes drinks) in Aerie all 4 mornings. Food was average, with the standouts being the custom omelet bar and smoked salmon and what tasted like fresh squeezed juice. Pre-made scrambled eggs were a bit dry, bacon a little overcooked some mornings, bagels stale every morning. For dinner, we at at Aerie twice. I love that they had sushi options, but portions were small, and overall just average. Really not much better than some grocery store sushi. Lunch options were decent on the slopes, with several in the main plaza area, and other at the base of some of the lifts, or top. Mostly pizza, burgers, salads, soups, etc. As for skiing, the conditions were perfect in late February/early March. Tons of snow, mostly powder and little ice, with mostly clear skies, especially by later morning and early afternoon. It is definitely true that the Green runs here are really more like Blues elsewhere. There were plenty of more difficult blue and black runs, so more options for the Higher intermediate/advanced skiier, but enough to keep the beginner and lower intermediate level skier busy and challenged. Lessons were excellent as well with very patient and encouraging ski instructors. I took lessons all three mornings, and went out again the afternoon by myself. I would especially recommend Warren who always had a positive spin on things and really showed and explained things well and knew how to correct and when to push us a little more. The groups were small and really placed similar level people together. I saw many of the instructors working with the kids and they all seemed excellent with them. Overall, the resort was clean and well maintained, with friendly and helpful staff. It was convenient and had all of the features I could think of to make this a great stay. read more

I love this place; HOWEVER, the aerial tram policy for riders without skis is inconsistent! Yesterday I was told it's ok to walk on without skis before 3:30pm. Today after waiting in line 20 minutes at 2pm, I was denied due to winds. There are no high winds today. Be consistent with your policy. I'm a PAID pass holder and I should be able to ride the tram if I feel like it (without skis)! read more

Terrible multi-day experience. My 7 year old was screamed at relentlessly by a grown man for throwing a snowball then another instructor pretended to be his supervisor in a school boy ruse by old men. They then were punitive in demoting her class placement not based on the skill level they documented. The actual supervisor did nothing and was defensive. Next day the new instructor found it funny to tell the boys they screamed "like girls", the kids "ski like gorillas", calling them "pukeazoids" etc. Unfortunately the children are more mature than anyone in Snowbird ski school. Save your money and take the shuttle to Alta. read more

I went for a snowboarding trip last January with my husband and his family. Previously I've tried to snowboard before but I was unsuccessful, until I came here! I got three day classes and I loved my instructors, They were really helpful and patient, and helped me a lot with my technique and why I was previously failing. I am very grateful and happy that I got to go here, because It was very affordable and I was able to do my spins and at the end able to snowboard way better than when I came for the first time. I'm a decent intermediate snowboarder. I ride blue and black diamond runs, but I can't say I was impressed with Snowbird. Sure the powder in Utah is amazing, but the terrain at Snowbird left me unimpressed. Maybe it was the crappy visibility conditions the day I was riding, but we never found any really good long fulfilling runs. I felt like we kept traversing and finding catwalks with flat parts followed by uphill parts. This is not my idea of a great day on my snowboard. With so many other great resorts in the area, I don't think I'd give Snowbird another chance. read more

Terrible experience. Let me start by saying - we are not skiers so this review is solely focused on the accommodations. We decided to book a room to stay up at Snowbird after enjoying Octoberfest. We booked a room at "The Inn," regrettable to say the least. We drove around for no less that 20 minutes trying to find the place - the signs are hidden behind other signs which happens, but we stopped at the lodge (next door) and the lady at the check in counter redirected us down the hill. Needless to say we were frustrated when we finally found the place - parking was terrible (understandable with a festival going on, but really- don't people come up here just for skiing too?). Fix yo damn parking people! We made our way down to our room and there was no bed - literally no bed- we finally found one hiding in a closet (Murphy). The room looked like it had not been updated since the 70's - I wish I would have taken a picture, the furniture was broken down and just cringy AF. We called the front desk, we expected more for $300 a night, so they moved us to the lodge. This was a minor upgrade - cost us $50 to move, but honestly we should have just gone home. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing you could imagine and the bedding is on par with what you would expect at a hostel. Suffice it to say - this hotel is an overpriced motel 6. Absolute garbage, it would have been cheaper for us to stay at the Grand America and hire a driver to shuttle us up to Octoberfest and back. So disappointed- on the bright side- Octoberfest was epic! read more

Tons and Tons and Tons of fantastic expert terrain. Do you hunt for black and double black? You'll be damn happy here. Most of the mountain is big open bowl terrain, and I can only imagine how amazing it would be on a big powder day. Mostly because I've yet to experience a big powder day there. Sigh. Beautiful views in all directions. The crazy tunnel from the front to the back side is a way around not getting a tram pass (which is an extra $10 for a single-day ticket), but is mostly just a nifty but mostly useless thing; it's slow, and dumps you out too low on the back side. The tram pass is definitely worth the extra money to get you to the peak fast. Snowbird is not much of a mountain for intermediate skiers, though - they claim it's 38% intermediate and 35% expert, but I'd put it closer to 45% expert. If you prefer blues, you may get bored after a day, but experts will be finding new terrain for a week, especially if the snow's good. read more

We got hammered today, 20+ inches of snow. Fantastic powder but viability was terrible. This wasn't snowbirds fault at all. The lifts we ok, the Tram was good to great. But the runs down the hill were bland. For the price, I would say there is better riding to be found. read more

Except for the time I nearly broke by buttocks on the slippery slopes, I had a blast here. The lines were short and the lifts were brisk. The snow was excellent and the lift ticket prices were very reasonable for the quality of skiing. I'd come here again. Oh, and there are snow bunnies all over the place. read more

I am a ok skiier. I grew up in MN and WI so yes I am spoiled with groomed runs. But I have skiied all.around the world to include Park City, Soporro, Winnipeg, etc. I am not a great skiier, but I can hold my own. So Snowbird was NOT for me. Don't get me wrong, the resort is very nice and lots of help and beauty, it's just not for below average skiiers. Snowbird is "Steep and deep" meaning it's elevared and fast and gets A TON of powder every year. If that's your gig, you will love this place. I don't. I am not good enough to ski deep powder. It is something I never learned how to do. It's different than skiing groomed or less steep runs. This place was not for me. I had fun, and skied here for three days but in the end I will not be back. If you are a ok skiier or consider yourself maybe an intermediate level skier, go somewhere else. Park City or the Canyons would be better for you. Just my 2 cents. read more

Snowbird is just a short drive or walk from Alta and they allow boarders here. Whether or not that's a good thing, well, you be the judge. They have a great tram but it's always packed so if you want to beat the morning rush and get fist tracks on that 36" of new powder, don't take the tram, ride the express chairs up the backside and watch everyone on the tram squirm with jealousy as you rip up the untouched slopes. It's a nice place to go if you're not into the back country ski and local feeling of Alta or if you want to snowboard. read more

Also known as "The Bird", Snowbird has excellent steep terrain for advanced skiers & snowboarders. Because of its location, Little Cottonwood Canyon gets twice as much snow as Park City, but sometimes the canyon road can be closed for avalanche control, so be sure to check the road conditions at 801-933-2100. There's no need to get a tram ticket, unless you like long lines, cattle herding, and getting an enema from someone else's bindings. I found the best snow in Mineral Basin and once that gets tracked out there's great stashes off of Gad 2. If food and lodging are important to you, go to Deer Valley. Save some $$ by getting your tickets at Sports Den or Canyon Sports in Salt Lake. read more

EDIT: I'm adding this paragraph to acknowledge that my last experience at the Bird was actually quite good. Our wedding day was during Oktoberfest 2015 and I've gotta say that everyone, customers and employees alike, was super-friendly. We rode the Peruvian chair to take some mountaintop wedding pics and everybody on the walk to and from the chairlift, as well as while riding the chairlift in both directions, was cheering us on, congratulating us, and complimenting my bride. Friendliest ski resort crowd I've ever seen. It's such a shame that the winter vibe cannot be like this. If the winter atmosphere changed to this, I would easily give Snowbird 5 stars. Now, back to the original review, which only reflects on the skiing experiences I've had there. How could such a rad mountain get such a low rating? The vibe here is so BAD. Seriously, everybody here is an asshole (hypocritical statement, I know) and is always so snobby and pissed off. I realize that's a blanket statement, but damn if 90% of the employees and customers aren't just always angry and rude. I mean everywhere. At a place that should be paradise, I've witnessed a lot of not-so-heavenly interactions among people. Lift operators saying it's somebody's fault for letting people cut in front of them. Parking attendants telling customers to "just go away" because they didn't want to answer questions. Cashiers at ticket windows and restaurants giving people the look of death without even knowing them. Shuttle drivers running stop signs and cutting cars off. Customers whining to lift operators to "just let them go" because the lift op had to tell another customer something. Long-time Snowbird skiers feeling the need to tell you how rad they are in the Cliff Lodge spa. Big fucking deal you skied Great Scott. I did too. Want my autograph? Didn't think so, so why would I want yours? Oh, you went out of bounds? Can I touch you? A place that thinks it has the right to treat you like shit better have its act together, which the 'Bird doesn't. With my Altabird pass, there's no problem scanning at Alta, but at the 'Bird they try to send me to the ticket window to get a replacement in a bitchy tone (in fairness, they let me ride the lift). It's so bad that our new nickname for any asshole, annoying person, or angry person we see anywhere is "snowbird". As in, "I can't believe that snowbird cut you off" or "That snowbird wouldn't shut up about himself". Badass mountain, bad vibe. Really bad vibe. Come on people, you can't possibly take yourselves seriously. You slide down frozen water on a giant dirt pile. You're not that special, so don't act like such snobs. Go on a powder day and it will change your life. There is nothing better than waist deep blower (chest deep if you know the secret spots) at the Bird. Steeps, chutes, cliffs, natural airs, big lines, this mountain has everything that an advanced/expert skier could ask for. If you are in Utah and it snows, drop what you are doing and head for the Bird. The ONLY downside is that when it's dumping, the canyon road can close for avalanche maintenance, but it's worth the wait. This is where Jesus would ski. read more

Little pricey compared to the places in PA but the mountain is great. I would definitely vacation here or stop by for a day on the slopes.

We ate here for breakfast one day a few months ago, and have been back for the Free Movie Nights several times. The resort is gorgeous. Sydnee helped us both times at brunch and at the coffee bar and she was a pleasure. The coffee was great. The only reasons there aren't "5" starts are 1) it is VERY expensive and 2) the food is nothing super special (although the bagel & lox was amazing) - you are definitely paying for the atmosphere. It's a nice quiet place inside and has a fun energy outside. How can you beat spending a day or weekend at a beautiful place with nice people? read more

By far the best resort I have been to for this class of skiers. They have the best snow in Utah. Very friendly staff when compare to Alta. "The best snow on earth" indeed! We've skied Salt Lake since the mid-90's, and even though we've now discovered Tahoe - and Louise, Sunshine, and Silver Star will always have that nostalgic power over us, (Our kids learned to ski at Silver Star, basically) - SLC definitely holds sway. Having kind of grown out of Brighton (nostalgia there, too, skiing among the trees with our kids), SB has become our go-to place in the SLC area in more than the last decade. Dare I say I know it like the back of my hand now? Seldom any crowds, almost always great snow, not a bad price (and often deals to further sweeten that), there's a lot to like. A snobbish "hand-you-a-tissue-when-you-want-to-blow-your-nose" place it isn't - a great place for skiing? Yeah - and then some! I also enjoy their live apres-ski acts on the terrace. This was my first time at Snowbird and at skiing. We booked our ski lessons with mountain school. The rented equipment was good quality. The staff is friendly and helps you through the process of getting prepared for the ski. As we stepped into the snow, we were allotted our instructors. After some verbal instructions, my instructor expected me to get skilled at it in the first half n hour while i was struggling to get accustomed with the whole equipment and the sport. While i genuinely looked up to him for some instructions so that i could improve, he took the other group members to a different spot abandoning me on my own. It was then i met "Terry" who was a godsend who encouraged me to not give up and helped me learn some basics. She also arranged another instructor for me, "Larry". This man is the reason I was able to ski at all. He constantly encouraged me, instructed me well with immense patience. Kudos to these instructors as they bring a good name to the company. Choose mountain school for ski lessons and ask for "Larry" or "Terry" and you will have great time at skiing. read more
