There should be more than 5 stars! I recenlty had an experience with a defective Toro cordless Snow Shovel. I prestented the defective product and Doug confirmed it to be defective. Doug offerd an immediate replacement and do to the disactnce I traveled assembled the unit to avoid another defective unit. Fantastic Service!! Bart assistant manager went out of his way to help us return a battery blower for a gas leaf blower, even though we were outside of the exchange 30 day period, Bart was more than happy to help, he even put gas in the blower started it and showed me how it worked, a true gentleman and a great store with wonderful employee. I really had higher expectations for this company and it pains me to give them only 3 stars. We went to the store and pointed at the stones we wanted, it was 3/8in limestone 8,000lbs of it and we told the lady we needed it for leveling which she agreed it was perfect for so the lady put in our order for us. When it got delivered, the delivery guy just dumped it close to the curb, not even in our driveway, how hard is it to drive 3 ft into the driveway?? It was then that we discovered it was the wrong stone, we received 3/4in limestone, the wrong one. We couldn't return it or say anything because the delivery guy just sped off and it was 8,000lbs so it's not easy to just return. Then when we went back and told them what happened the lady did give us a discount on our next delivery since now we had to purchase sand, but she didn't even admit to her mistake. When it got delivered, the delivery guy dumped it so close to the curb that a lot of it went into the road! Not great service delivery wise. Considering it was 8,000lbs of sand, it was a pain for us to have to move it by hand onto our driveway from the road. He couldn't have been bothered to try to dump it in our short driveway even though my boyfriend was trying to help guide him. Pretty disappointed in delivery overall but they have good selection and prices. read more

Best of the best. It will knock the socks off any Home Depot. As a matter of fact, it is in a different class altogether. Apparently this locally-owned store cares about their employees so they keep their staff. You can get to know the staff here and listen to their tips and product recommendations and develop a sense of trust in your home repair needs. One thing - if you're following a GPS, most of the GPS directions lead you about a half a mile away from where the store really is. I made a manual change to mine. The upstairs is devoted to gardening, light electrical, cleaning, etc. The downstairs, which has its own separate entrance, is the heavy duty construction and gardening area. No need to run to box stores when you have a gem like this in the area. read more

I have never been in this store. Thanks to all three of your employees we purchased a black stone 36 inch grill all utensils to go with it, having it built and delivered!! Handy little hardware store that's been around forever. Well, for a long time anyway. Stopped in the other day with my husband for a filter for our heater and almost walked out with a really cute scarf. Yes, a fashionable, ruffly gray scarf. Couldn't find a price tag though and thought it was a little weird, so I didn't get it. I just pictured someone asking me "Hey, where'd you get that nice scarf?" and me being like, "I got it at the hardware store down the street." LOL :) Anyway, they do have lots of stuff in there - along with all the household products, keys, etc., they also have lots of holiday lighting and décor, firepits, grills, etc. And yes, pretty cool scarves. All in all, Snyder's is a nice place that has lots of things to offer along with fast and friendly service and good prices. read more

Today was my first visit to this store, in search of a bathroom scale. So I asked the guy working in the back, last aisle, where they were, he said I don't know, try aisle 8. So I did, not there. Wandered around til I found it in the very aisle he was working in! On top of that there was a customer with NO MASK!! I watched him check out and nothing was said to him!! You have big signs on the door that a mask is required, yet this guy was allowed to shop, potentially exposing us to covid!! It's a real pain in the butt to get in and out of Aston- with lights or stop signs on every other corner, it's nice to have a decent hardware store around the corner that has just about everything you need AND helpful employees to guide you through the process of whatever little repair you might need to make. There have been a few times that we needed to skip over the the closest Home Depot- but only in a few situations did the home-town store let us down. Growing up, Snyder's and Venuti's in Aston were the local hardware stores. Media Hardware was where Quincy's now is, but Snyder's came along in the 90's as Media Hardware petered out. Then the box stores, and into the new millennium, Venuti's went out, and so on, but Snyder's (while a True Value back when, and now an ACE), has always remained strong. Their customer service is always excellent. Even the young kids who work there are well-trained, and have mature attitudes. When I have called about a product on the ACE website that is not in stock in store, they have promptly offered to have it shipped for me to pick up. They always give the price up front, the ETA, and then call again to make sure I know when it's in so I don't waste a trip. Snyder's was the only store around who could help us special order a product we needed several years back. We had a horrible stink bug invasion in an older portion of our home. After a lot of research and failed home remedies, I found "Safer Brand End All" spray online. It is organic, and uses pyrethrin (extracted from chrysanthemums / marigolds) which is a natural stink bug deterrent. I was concerned about spraying it in the house for the sake of our pets, and was delighted to find this is safe for pets. I was determined to find it and try it, but none of the box stores had it, nor were they contracted with the manufacturer in order to get it for me. Prices for it on Amazon at the time were crazy, so I finally called Snyder's to see if they could help. Yes they could! The woman who helped me was so kind, and the price they offered was the lowest anywhere. I was thrilled at just that, but when she told me she could have it in three days I was overjoyed! After spraying thoroughly with the End All, the stink bugs all died within 2 weeks. A short while later, another round of stink bugs came in, and another thorough treatment got rid of them too. That was it for that year. The following year, we made another order with Snyder's. That year, it took only one treatment, and they were gone. Since then, they have not come back, and it's been several years. If I ever see them again, I am headed straight to Snyder's to take care of it. I am so grateful they were so helpful to get the product right in for me! Snyder's has also helped us with unique and hard-to-find paint products that you cannot find at Depot or Lowes. Additionally, they had a great promo on regular paint gallons one time, and they were extremely helpful about matching our color... they cared more than we did about making it perfect. Snyder's is accompanied by the gravel / sand / stone company downstairs. That is a separate company, FYI, just shares the same building. read more

Tried to do the small business owner a solid. Went there looking for a screw for a hair trimmer. One of the workers offered to help took the screw out of the plastic bag, dropped it out of his hand, hit a box lost it. Since the screw was held the trimmer in, now no way to get a replacement since there is no longer anything to compare it with. The clerk made the whole hair trimmer un useable. So a $0.15 screw will cost me $30 to replace my hair trimmer. I will stay with the big guys going forward read more

Well, most of the time they do a good job with helpful service. Pricing seems competitive. I try to shift my purchases to local small businesses when it makes sense, instead of big box stores. Their recent circular drew me in today. On the front it said the sale was from September 4th till the 7th. But on the back, where my desired items were featured, the small print said prices were in effect "through September 7th." The back also said "hurry in, supplies limited." So which do you go with--the small print or the big print? It was clear to me: small print. Plus it said hurry in. So I showed up to buy $100 worth of stuff, and the young fellow at the register told me I wasn't getting the price, they wouldn't hold the stuff for me, and to come back when the sale was in effect. Hmm... I thought ACE was supposed to be "the helpful place?" They had an easy $100 transaction but sent me away empty-handed instead. Why put the circulars out a week early then? The whole thing, that mentality, seems kind of dumb. I mean--you won. I saw the ad. I responded to the ad. I made the effort to show-up. And then I'm told no, you can't have that price today, or tomorrow, or Sunday. You gotta wait until next Friday, a week from today. (???) So I left the property being kind of annoyed. It just wasn't a good experience this time. It seems the lesson is: If you see an ACE ad, maybe you shouldn't pay attention to the small print. That is what they communicated to me today. I think Snyder deserves 3 1/2 stars. Not 4. But 3 is too harsh. read more

Very helpful friendly professional customer service. I called the store because I live in New Castle County Delaware about 30 minutes away and didn't want to travel without confirming that they had what I needed. When I called the team member who helped me figure out what I needed for my car key to be fixed/replaced provided all the available optiona and even at a much lower cost than I expected. Once I arrived at the store the product was put up front for me as communicated and I was quickly serviced by the next team member. While we had a little wait it was great that he made sure to make certain that everything was working correctly before we left; which I absolutely appreciate since I came from a little distance. I perused the store while waiting and it seems to be very well stocked and everyone offered to help that walled by us. We were even offered free lunch as someone was grilling!!! Terrible! The place is a total mess, I'm surprised people aren't getting hurt navigating their aisles. There are boxes of items in the midst of being unpacked and things that fell off the racks. It's uncomfortable to shop because you have to keep backing out of aisles because of things in the way. read more

OK its Superbowl Sunday at 4:57 p.m. when I realize I am out of propane. I had some great looking Prime Ribeye's that badly needed a good grill'n. I called Snyder's to see what time they closed. When the guy said they were closing in 3 minutes, and I asked if he knew somewhere else I could get a tank filled. I was disappointed to see the ad for clear 18 gal totes appearing in the Feb sale ads. Truly deceptive. Large bold print of $5.49 with pictures only to find in the very small light print a new higher price. This if the first time I have been fooled by Ace Hardware. Of course they didn't have the simple part I needed, even though I called ahead to make sure they did. Clueless upstairs staff sent me downstairs. At least downstairs staff came back upstairs with me, to fruitlessly search the same rack I'd searched before bothering to hunt down someone to help me in the first place.
