Lovely concept. Fantastic massage therapist. Truly wonderful! The receptionist asked me to pay for my service and tip 20% upon entry. She agreed to cancel it and let me pay after, but it's a little off-putting when I hadn't received the service yet. Very clean and well-decorated ladies' area, bathrooms, and sauna. DUSTY soaking area! I could barely stay the 30 minutes without sneezing. You can visibly see large hairballs and lint on the floor near the Buddha statue. I'm also not sure how clean the water was. This is not acceptable. There were no cushions on the egg chairs; I guess they are just there for decoration. No candles, spa scents, or even incense burning in the halls or spa area. It's just an oversized jacuzzi with so much dust that I left stuffy. For the price of this experience, I expect much better. No matter the day of the week or how many clients are on the books, the service and atmosphere should always be top tier and reflective of the prices attached. read more

This was definitely a much needed experience. Had a nice relaxing massage by Theresa (she was amazing). The soak spa was nice as well. I went later in the evening so nobody was there and it was nice and peaceful. Definitely felt like I was on a resort. Also I went upstairs to the bar/hotel afterwards. Hotel is old and eclectic. Very warm welcome at the spa. You're provided a key and robe with spa shoes upon check in. Grab some infused water while you wait to be escorted to the changing room. Put your belongings into a locker and wait for your masseuse to call you. Could be called from the locker room or the co-ed waiting room. Every massage I have ever received was always (what I assume is considered) full body. You get a massage while laying on your stomach & back. Can you book a back only massage? I never knew... so maybe it was my error to assume I was getting something other than what I received. Nonetheless, my appointment went ok. (It sounded like the masseuse let out a sigh or two. Massage Therapists Were Amazing, But Communication Needs Improvement I've been to this spa twice -- once in late 2024 and again in April 2025. The best part of both visits were the massage therapists, Natasha and Latia. They were professional, attentive, and gave truly amazing massages. If I come back, it will be because of them. Unfortunately, the overall experience both times was affected by poor communication. The first time, my appointment (booked with friends) was rescheduled twice on the day of, with no one answering calls or returning voicemails until much later. We had dinner reservations, so the delays were frustrating. I could hear the foot traffic over my head the entire time. On my second visit, things seemed better -- no rescheduling, peaceful atmosphere, and a quiet room. But I found out at the end that the grotto was closed, which was a key reason I booked. The only notice was a voicemail saying the sauna was closed (unclear if that meant the dry sauna or grotto). By the time I left the sauna, the place was empty -- it felt like they shut down early and didn't communicate it clearly. I had to tell her to put on the heater of the bed. She didn't stretch me. She only massage me for less than an hour, they didn't give me any wine. I really feel like because I was African-American. So first off my husband got a $600 deep tissue couples massage and his massage was deep tissue and full body and mine was not. My masseuse was much older and all she did was rub oil all over my body and I am the one that has a more physically demanding job and I've been waiting months for my birthday to come because my husband was saving up to take me to this place and I felt absolutely horrible after just full of oil. And the front desk woman was very dismissive and not attentive at all. She was on the phone as we were walking out and I didn't even get to talk to her about my experience and also you get charged for amenities and a 20% tip even though the amenities were closed and they do not tell you that. I've tried to call and email them and someone said they would call me from management and they never did. The spa is gorgeous. The locker room was clean, quiet, and well-decorated. They had a private locker with a key. My treatment was late in the day so I am thankful that it was empty because it was a bit small. The sauna had enough room for three people. The hot tub grotto area was stunning. There was probably enough room for 6 people to sit comfortably. I was really embarrassed because the robe in my hotel room was too small to completely wrap around me. I asked if they had a bigger robe at the spa. They had a longer, more luxurious robe at the spa. I'm 5'10", about a size 12, but it was still too small. I was glad I had my swim suit on underneath. The price was on par for the treatment and the amenities. I would not come here for my monthly massage. I scheduled a couples massage the same night I rented a room at the Detroit club and made a reservation at Bohemia for a date night. I arrived at 4:30 as they make you pay for 1/2 of the service price in advance (I did not want to get hit with a late fee) I waited at the front desk for about 15 minutes for someone to show up. I found Soak Spa and watched a beautiful video of their facility, including a salt bath pool, which was everything I had been searching for and definitely set the spa apart from others. Upon arrival, everything looked great - nice ambiance and friendly faces greeted us. My best friend and I truly enjoyed our massages. However, things took a turn after the service ended. We were looking forward to the complimentary salt soak spa, which was the main reason we booked this spa over others. When I went to pay for the services, we found out via a sign at the spa desk that it was closed for repairs. No one advised us or shared these details previously. The staff reminded us that we could still enjoy the sauna, which was also a complimentary service. Since I spent almost $400, we decided to try to enjoy the sauna. However, we found it filthy - bobbi pins on the bench and floor, hair, dirt, and dust everywhere. The staff told us we could return and use the salt soak spa when it was fixed but had no ETA. I believe the staff should have made guests aware that the facility was no longer working when confirming appointments or should have been better about making guests aware when checking in so they had the opportunity to continue with the service or reschedule. read more

In general it was not a good experience. Something went wrong with their APPOINTMENT SYSTEM, they had me scheduled 20 minutes before, even when I show them the confirmation txt i received they rush me into the room without allowing me to go to the locker rooms, i had to change in the massage room, actually they didn't even let me read the waiver nor fill it out. They say all their services come with PROSECCO, which is a $40 bottle, that obviously I was not going to drink, not alone and not while driving (they don't even ask). They force me to leave a 20% GRATUITY. And just to complete the bad experience, the FACIAL gave me an ALLERGIC REACTION, BAD, my face was swollen, sore, and hurting for a week, never have had to use vaseline in my face. She had a rough touch and did not do any massaging at all. I absolutely ADORE the Soak Spa! My husband and I spent a lovely weekend at the Detroit Club and the Soak Spa was the absolute highlight of our getaway. We had an 80 minute couples massage, followed by a soak in their beautiful hot tub. The spa is located in the basement and every inch of it is gorgeous. It's fancy and luxurious. The staff was so kind and accommodating. You get a robe and a locker for all your belongings and there's tons of amenities in the woman's locker room area if needed. There's also an infrared sauna in there that you can use too! The massage I had was incredible. I usually go to the Beach House Day Spa (prior to my discovery of Soak Spa) but this experience was unlike any other. The massage therapist put so much effort into making sure she was using the perfect amount of pressure. They also used the steamed towels during the massage like 5-6 times, which I LOVED! Now for my favorite part: THE SOAKING TUB! I love hot tubs and I'm constantly searching for new experiences that involve them in Michigan. This soaking tub is HUGE and gorgeous. It's the most beautiful one I've managed to find in Michigan. It's pretty private and filled with bubbles! I could've stayed in there all night. Getting to soak after my massage was the cherry on top of the perfect spa experience. If you're looking for a full on true spa experience, this should be your go to place! We scheduled a couples massage for Valentine's Day weekend which is also my birthday (which we told them when we booked) a few weeks ago and a man named Matt who is extremely disrespectful and rude called and told us they had to cancel our appointment because they are hosting a party at their spa. We have called 10 other places and now that it's last minute, no one is available. They have no respect for peoples time and basically said we were SOL and to top it all off the guy Matt hung up the phone while we were talking!
