Let me start by saying that I hadn't used public laundromats for decades until recently when my…read moreusual W/D were on the blink. Naturally, I examined the reviews of my nearest laundromats and seeing the bad rap others had given to Midland Plaza Laundromat -- especially the reports of roaches (uck!) and poor maintenance of the machines -- I had to muster up some courage to even try this one, encouraged by the far more recent, and glowing, reports of conditions after the ownership changed. I am SO GLAD I opted to just TRY Midland, as I would have missed the chance to see what a laundromat that's run RIGHT -- with the CUSTOMER's needs and priorities in mind -- looks like! Of course, they had the usual (well stocked and functioning!) soda pop, water, and candy dispensing machines, but I was more impressed by the MULTIPLE dollar bill to coin changing machines available and functioning, for $5 bills and $10 bills (and perhaps $20 bills, though I didn't notice it, specifically). An added bonus was a machine that dispensed items you might be kicking yourself for leaving behind, like, laundry soap, fabric softener sheets, even plastic bags in different sizes to take your clean laundry back home in. With all these perks, it's no surprise that there were an ample number of washers and dryers available AND functioning. But I was even more impressed by the INDUSTRIAL-sized washing machines -- which I'd never seen before in person, only in documentaries about hospital-type institutions -- these monsters accommodate MULTIPLE (if memory serves, 2 to 5 to ...7? more?) REGULAR-SIZED LOADS AT ONCE. What else?....Along with individual seating, there are multiple tables that can seat 4, with -- even better -- nearby electrical receptacles where one could recharge a phone, if needed -- and yes, I needed and did so. At least one restroom was available (there could have been more, but like the $20 bill changer, I just didn't notice). And the condition of that restroom? Like the rest of the premises, perfectly acceptable and tidy! Most impressive to me was the owner, whose name -- if I recall correctly -- is Terry (and I hope she'll forgive me if I've gotten that wrong!) Terry was on the scene and working hard 100% of the time. Seriously, it's been a very long time since I've seen someone work so diligently. Despite that, she seemed to be perfectly happy to stop and pay close attention every time I asked her a question, and she even proactively offered advice when she could tell (I guess from the eyes in the back of her head lol) that I needed to hear about operating a new-to-me machine -- and I am very grateful for that! Seeing this hardworking owner in action helped me understand WHY there were NO -- I mean, ZERO -- insects anywhere on the premises from front to back, including restroom, from the moment I entered her store to the moment I left it with my clean laundry. I can say I've never seen cleaner laundromat facilities in my life! I sincerely hope Terry is very happy in her work and that she remains very healthy and vigorous for many years to come. Because I could see some of my neighbors using her laundromat facilities, too, and -- although I will soon have no need for a public laundromat -- now that I've seen the high caliber of service and the well maintained equipment and premises she is providing to all who enter her store, there is no doubt in my mind that she and her store are a genuine asset to the entire neighborhood and we are fortunate indeed that she is here.

The directions on how to use the equipment was clear and the restroom was clean! I would definitely come back here again...

They will try to have you arrested for trespassing even though you are a paying customer if you use their restroom too long. They are rude and don't know how to apologize for embarrassing a customer. Knoxville has many laundromats and this one is ran by creeps who monitor your bathroom usage. Pick somewhere better than this place. Update: The owners of the establishment have decided to harass me over text message and are currently threatening me further. Please leave me alone, and stop harassing me. This establishment played an embarassing warning to the entire establishment because I was in the restroom for approximately 5-6 minutes that threatened me with police action because I was in the restroom for an extended period of time. I was in the establishment for an hour and a half approximately, and in that time I mainly worked on my laptop doing spreadsheets and emails. My clothes were still drying and I needed to use the facilities. I did call to complain about the warning, and managment escalated instead of descalating. Knoxville Police were called and did show up while I was loading my laundry in my car and patted me down in front of the establishment to where all they found were three dollars in quarters, a $20 bill, my wireless headphones and car keys. The police suggested I leave or be cited for trespass. I was finished, had no reason to continue to be there and left the premises and do not plan to return to this establishment ever. I stand by my review, I have used this place multiple times recently, and have used this place as far back as 2014 or so. A formal apology from the establishment and a return of the approximately $7 I spent to do my laundry would go a long way. Also, they watch remotely, can play any alarm at will and have a PA system in house. See the response to Jeff Van Natta on Google for further reference. " I was the one watching the cameras remotely that night. I played the closing announcement an additional two times for you specifically. 6 minutes before closing I got on the PA system, again remotely, and asked you not to put money in the dryer. You still did it. We did not receive a refund request from you." Using the owner's own words they absolutely were watching me. They saw I was a paying customer and that I had been there for over an hour and a half and still did that intentionally after I went to the restroom. Absolutely unacceptable behavior from these people.
