My mother unfortunately was a patient at this house of horrors for over a month. To say this place was rancid would be an understatement. My mother stayed in a room near the end of the hall and as I walked to her room I could smell the stench of urine and feces but the absolute worst part is speaking with this vile woman who is one of the executives there. I had to deal with this woman the entire time my mother was there and could only handle texting her as speaking with her was too aggravating. When I hadn't heard from Montecito I called this woman and asked how my mother was doing. She told me she was discharged. This was sometime in early September. This horrible woman wouldn't tell me where my mother was discharged too and told me to contact my family, I am 1 of 3 sons. The 2 of us were her only immediate family members. The 2 of us were the only people who should know where my mother was at all times. . My mother died a few weeks later at a hospice and I never found out where she was to say goodbye. This year I will be looking into this working with various state and local agencies on Montecito withholding the location of where they discharged my mother too. This picture was her filthy tray on one of the last visits I had with her. This was also after I picked up a few things and forgot to take the picture.

After a boating accident causing a spinal cord injury (diagnosed as Central Cord Syndrome), three months in a rehab hospital, three surgeries, 2 titanium rods, 10 screws, a TACC line, a wound vac, and a catheter my husband started his stay at Montecito. During his stay, Morgan and the administration at the time made sure Rob had everything he needed. There are many many nurses and CNAs that helped Rob 24 hours a day but Michelle (Charge Nurse) and his all time favorite nurse Tony made sure his care (both mental and physical) were their top priority. Then came both the PT and OT teams!! Let's start with the Dynamic Duo (techs Britney and Courtney). We will never forget them helping a 6'4 300+ man into a Hoyer lift and transfer him into the beast of a wheelchair every day with smiles and laughter. Then came meeting Kyle and his staff who worked with Rob every day until he could stand with assistance and was working on rolling over. There were many adventures, laughter and missed steps in his journey but he couldn't be where he is today without this amazing group. The OT staff Jordan, Emily, and many others helped him gain confidence in using his hands and giving him knowledge that he will gain dexterity when he put in the work. It has now been almost 2 years since his accident and my husband has made huge gains! He's now standing by himself and walking short distances with canes and walker. Though the journey to a full recovery is still in the works, we know he wouldn't be as far as he is without the Montecito Team.

Soiled sheets that the staff were too busy to help my mom change. She was bed bound maybe hitting 100lbs pounds.

The staff attended to the many needs of Chuck. The convenience of bedside dialysis was a deciding factor to choose Montecito.

It's obvious how much Blair cares about the people who live there. We are grateful for everything the staff does and highly recommend Santé of Mesa to anyone looking for a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

After I was…read moreable to leave the hospital I ended up staying at Santé for years (off and on) & it's the only physical rehabilitation facility that I will go to. I have had the displeasure of staying at 2 different PT rehabs before I ended up at Santé & you would not believe the horror stories I have from those places, just unbelievably awful (Both stank of urine & feces the moment you get passed the front desk.) & Sante was like a Godsend for me. Let me start with the facility 1st. The place is very nice. They have a Starbucks Cafe, a full gym staffed with friendly & knowledgeable physical therapists that will work with you everyday, a full restaurant, and most importantly, HUGE SPACIOUS INDIVIDUAL ROOMS equipped with a flat screen tv, a mini fridge, a kitchenette, a microwave, and a nice big full size bathroom for my wheelchair. Next let me tell you about the staff. Everyone there is so friendly & polite. I stayed there for years & most of the staff stayed there and are still there since I first went to Santé in 2019 (That should tell you something. Most nursing facilities are like a revolving door when it comes to the staff). I'd like to mention some names of people who really became friends of mine while I was there. Marlin, Brian, Aiden, Catalina, Sharon, & Kimberly from the CNA team are all excellent at their jobs & true professionals. These guys went over & beyond their duties for me & I thank God for their help, they truly are the best (You need to trust me on this, at other places I've had criminal's & people who just don't care & I never got that at Santé. They were always good to me). From the nursing staff id like to mention Betty, Jose, Fennela,& Elizabeth. These nurses are top notch. They actually care about the patients & they don't treat you like a person that they have to deal with, they treat you like a person & that is so rare in healthcare especially post covid. If I had to complain about anything it would be the food. When I first went to Sante in 2019 they had an extensive menu with lots of options & the food was actually good. I left for a year and when I came back the kitchen had really gone down hill. You know it's not good when the employees don't eat from there. I talked to the main chef Daniel & he told me they cut his budget drastically & the quality of the food suffered as a result so it's not his fault, corporate is always looking to save a buck & they shouldn't do that with the food, it's kind of important for those who have to stay there for long periods of time. I was able to eat there everyday if I wanted to but I ordered delivery most days because the food was nasty. There are so many others I am forgetting to include but the staff for the most part is amazing. If you are looking for a nice place for yourself or a loved one look no further. It doesn't get any better than Sante of Mesa. Other places will put on a show for you & trick you into staying there thinking it's a nice place & then when management goes home the night crew will come in and they are terrible, sometimes even abusive. This doesn't happen at Santé, they even have couches in the rooms with pull out beds so you can have a loved one spend the night with you, they welcome it because they are fully staffed at nighttime and don't leave you with a skeleton crew like everywhere else. At least that's been my experience. Last but not least I'd like to thank Kristina the maintenance manager! Kristina is an angel walking around on earth. She totally gets me & we were friends (she is another 1 who has been there a long time.) She will make sure everything in your room works & she keeps the place nice. Management is also great! If you do choose Santé' make sure you don't get Irene as a nurse. She is a nurse at Santé who doesn't belong. She is the only one I ever had a problem with & it was like she liked to pick on me. I honestly never did anything to this lady & for some reason she was always rude & unprofessional. Whenever I would ask for her she literally took an hour or longer to get to me if she ever came at all. I would ask her to change my folly catheter in the morning time and she would blow me off all day & try to pass the work on to the night nurses. The worst part about working with her is when I would ask for her help I could actually hear her just talking & laughing with the staff instead of attending to my needs. She made some of my days very bad & I always loathed the days I had her for a nurse but she is the exception, all the other nurses there are great, especially the ones I named. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, I will answer any questions truthfully because I know how important it is to put your loved ones into a good nursing facility & God willing I never need to go back but if I ever need to stay in a nursing facility again Sante is where I would go. I hope this helps God bless!

The first evening my mom was there I walked in and she was laying on a plastic mattress with no sheets on the FLOOR!!! I demanded they raise the bed, put some rails on it and put sheets on it. They said they couldn't find the sheets to fit it! I told them to bring in a different bed then that had sheets that fit. The following day the in charge nurse told my father, in front of my mother that this was the best it was going to get. She would not be getting any better. At this point my mom couldn't speak, couldn't get up and walk, but knew what you were saying. It was the first time since her stroke and brain surgery that she cried. She knew what this nurse was saying. I was furious. I got my mom up, had her stand while I held on to her and we would just hug and sway back and forth to get weight on her legs and get her muscles working again. (Isn't this what a rehab hospital should be doing???). Within 3 days, my mom was able to walk to the restroom and use it. Now she didn't have to lay in her waste for HOURS waiting for someone to come change her. Within a week, they had a hard time keeping her down. She began talking again. Although still very confused with memories, she was improving greatly. That nurse tried to make me feel stupid like I had no idea and because my mom had had a seizure, she was now going to live an infantile existence for the rest of her life. If it was up to them, she would. They were doing absolutely ZERO memory care with her and occasional pt. I was horrified at what was going on. I had to throw fits to get her bathed. I was constantly being told they were understaffed or the 'shower girl' didn't show up. Today, almost a year later, my mom has some memory issues and dementia, but she is home and functioning pretty darn well! Especially for someone who was never going to get better! The picture is of my mom the other day, riding her bike. I've thought of taking it into the nurse and telling her don't you dare EVER tell a patient or their loved one this is the best it gets and she won't get any better.

The facility is old and somewhat dated; typical Arizona decor, beige and brown. However, the facility is clean and the cleaning lady did her room daily.
