Touch screen ordering is great for socially awkward folk like me so I can take my time scrolling instead of panic-ordering cause someone's staring at me to make a decision. I couldn't find it in any of the pre-populated offerings so thought I could do that by custom ordering, but couldn't figure it out on the touch screen. There was definitely some discrepancy between the screen and the blackboard, but whatever, I came for a bowl and I got a bowl. As an açaí fanatic, sobol is perfect on every occasion, including after failing a midterm, studying for a midterm, or just on a regular day I'm craving something filling but healthy. Açaí Bowl (regular size $8.65) w/ Nutella ($1.25): My go-to order from sobol is a regular açaí bowl with Nutella. The Nutella brings out a chocolatey sweetness that balances the "sour" taste in the açaí base. The fruits are always fresh and I love the combination that they use. However, the reason why I gave sobol 4 stars is due to very minor preferences I have. First, they occasionally put way too much granola in and although they have adjustments for how much, sometimes it depends on who is making the bowl. Second, I wish they spread the Nutella evenly over the bowl with a drizzle instead of a blob of Nutella on the side (for consistency in each bite). I love their pitaya bowl here. Lots of fruits piled on and always so fresh. You can customize your bowl and put whatever toppings you want but I just go for the regular bowl with the pineapple, mango, kiwi, granola and coconut chips on top of the pitaya. As for the space itself, it's very nice and spacious. It's usually not too loud in volume for music or people since lots of people pick up their bowl and leave. They have really fast service so people go in and out, but it's also pretty decent for studying a bit as well. If I could just overcome the mental hurdle of the cost of blended smoothie bowls, I would give this place a 5/5. SoBol in University City is delicious and customizable, and surprisingly convenient for catering for college house events as well. Living in the quad, it's great to be able to make orders for floor/house events at Penn given its popularity, even though it is still pretty pricey. Many of our more casual and community building events tend to be after dinner time hours, and Sobol gives us an option to provide easy treats that aren't the typical unhealthy cookies, doughnuts, etc. I love the thick and tasty texture, and much prefer the acai bowl to the dragon bowl option (imo if you're doing a group order, I recommend either 3/4 acai with 1/4 dragon, or just all acai). I've also come to Sobol to purchase a bowl for myself for breakfast, and I think it was worthwhile, even though it does make you really cold after finishing a bowl of it in the winter. The interior is bright and spacious, and generally pretty fairly uncrowded so you could easily come to get work done as well. Either ways, I'm glad that Sobol planted itself on Spruce at Penn because acai bowls were never really an option before that. First time customer here. Grumpy lady(in picture) was less than helpful. Posted price on the wall for a "Super" size Acai bowl was $15.25. The kiosk menu priced the same item at $16.10. Both these prices were pre-tax. (See included pictures.) This type of false advertising is quite a sneaky and shady busness practice. The lady refused to enter the order manually at the register with the in store posted price and said I have to order from the kiosk at the higher price. When I asked for a second spoon, she scowled and gave me dirty looks and she grudgingly walked back over to hand me one. The product was mediocre at best with not so fresh strawberries on top. Also, we clicked on "no bananas", but I think the lady didn't notice that because it tastes like there are bananas blended into it. If i had been allergic to bananas, this would have been a big deal.
