I live just east of SoBro, though I'm known to claim the area as my homefront. It's an area I just plain love, a unique combination of urban edginess, friendly people with just a bit of attitude (like me), and a surprising amount of cool businesses. SoBro Vintage Market is probably right on that line between what would be considered SoBro and Broad Ripple, though it undeniably carries a SoBro vibe. In case there's any doubt, this is a vintage market. The vibe tends to change here from visit to visit, though I'm not going to say I actually frequent the place because, quite honestly, it's not always particularly wheelchair friendly. Some of this stuff is vintage enough that I don't want to take a chance on breaking it with my chair. You can get art here. You can get music here. You can get clothing here. You can get some furniture here. If you look up this place on social media, you'll see that they actually have "& Curiosities" in their name - that's appropriate because they have quite a bit that I would simply call "curiosities." Prices range from "great deal" to WTF?" It seems like when I've been here, I've always seen quite a bit that falls into mid-century. That's kind of appropriate considering an awful lot of SoBro would fall into that era (including my home - a 1955 California ranch). When they are open, they are known for putting some items outside (which is how I finally stopped - I saw a wonderful retro dining room table that was to die for). People are friendly and knowledgeable. I honestly don't know a lot about the place, other than I find it to be ultra-cool, and I've never stopped by that I didn't see something I'd want (and will sometimes get). If you're into the vintage scene, SoBro Vintage Market is definitely worth a visit. If you have mobility issues or are a wheelchair user, just be aware that sometimes it gets pretty tight inside and you'll want to exercise caution. read more

Stopped in here for the first time the other day. It is sort of dark in there and does not appear to be a lot of organization. We looked around the entire shop and found the prices to be a bit high. We go to thrift and antique stores often. The guy in the store greeted us as we walked in and did not bother us as we browsed the store. Probably will not return to this shop. read more

Recently visited SoBro vintage and was left feeling underwhelmed. There for a handful of items that were appealing but many things were over $100. There were multiple pieces of furniture/ lawn statues well over $1000. Friendly staff! Wooden trunks seen throughout, but unfortunately most were damaged and still very pricey. Records were $6 a pop so not bad at all, just not what I was looking for. If you're looking to spend a good chunk of money this might be your place but if you're looking for a deal I would head elsewhere. read more

This place is so cool. You can tell that the people who run SoBro Vintage Market know their stuff, because everything is carefully curated and I want to buy every single thing. No swap meet junk here. It's all quality old stuff, especially the mirrors and artwork. I just can't resist anything vintage that hangs on a wall. The store itself is small, but they manage to pack lots of treasures into a small space. You'll find furniture, knickknacks, books, clothing, records, quilts and lots more. Last weekend I took the opportunity to venture around the Broadripple area looking for vintage / consignment purchasing opportunities. SoBro was one of my last shops. The shop was loaded with rustic items, vintage furniture and Knick knacks. I found one small item to bring home which has now been placed in it's perfect spot. I overheard a guest while she was checking out raving about the shop and that she was very excited to have found it being new to the area. I think they had a large selection that should satisfy any vintage shoppers. read more

I think I received a Facebook invitation from a friend to attend a Home and Garden Fair in my neighborhood. Located in the building behind Vibes Music, off the Monon Trail, we entered and were quickly greeted with smiles and information on raffles and sales within the Vintage Market full of tchotchkes, old tools and items from days gone by. The booths were welcoming and offered a variety of decor in every price range. I took home a vintage book for my youngest who enjoys reading now more than ever and found a birdbath stand to repurpose for my gazing ball. My friend found the perfect gift for her mother's birthday and was able to get the price she could afford simply by asking. Beautiful weather and good times with a girlfriend in SoBro - I love my neighborhood. read more

The original location off the Monon was better. When we first moved to Indy we were at the Monon location at least two days a month. We rented before we bought and still had another home in Ohio, this place basically decorated our Naptown rental. I would've given a 5-star review back then but it was before my yelping ;) Now, I have to drop one star. I'm not sure what happened when they relocated. The prices definitely went up, the selection is a touch off, not as high quality and the customer service took a dive. I worked in a high-end vintage shop (think authentic Herman Miller, Isamu Noguchi, Eames, Saaranin) in my '20s for almost five years, so I know how a vintage market should be. You're supposed to give vintage-style customer service along with the vintage goods. I was not greeted, the other three people who popped in weren't either. Nothing caught me like it used to in the other location, I left with no purchase. I'm sure having no one acknowledge my existence impacted my perspective quite a bit. Maybe it was an off day, I'll go back and adjust my review as needed. read more

My 4th time in and I have almost bought something every time I visit. Our first time here we were looking for red bar stools. Well, they had them and they seemed almost perfectly, but they had a little paint and they were maybe too tall. The guy said the paint would clean up, and it did. He said I could cut a little off the legs and I did and they are awesome!! They have just a little bit of anything in here and whomever are working have always been helpful. Today the big purchase was a gardening hat. I think I did okay and may wear it out to our next function. read more

Every time I stop in, this little shop gets more interesting. Lots of pictures, pipes, leather goods like purses & pouches & vintage cigarette cases. Hand painted, one of a kind tables & chairs. Cute little vintage hats to perch atop your head. Silver plate, china, jewelry, so much to see & admire. I got a little black side table that folds up for storage, perfect for me. Also love my tiny oil painting of southwest desert mesas. There's very reasonable prices here. The location is wonderful - so many different shops tucked away in this area. This place is so cool. I've lived just a short drive down the street from here for years and had no clue about it. They're a small store so they don't have tons, but they do have a large variety of stuff. Furniture, antiques, trinkets, jewelry, clothes, and records to name just a few things. And the guy working the front desk is just the sweetest. We bought a set of Little Golden Books one of the vendors had for sale and had a nice talk with him about them. He'd said he hopes all parents read to their kids and that he loved reading to his and his grandchildren too. When anyone came or went, he greeted and thanked them dearly for stopping in. Before we left, my mom asked him if there were any other really close antique stores nearby that we might have missed and he recommended the small mall at 71st and Binford. We will likely be back soon, even if only to talk to him. read more

There are many treasures in this chest(store) tucked away off of Keystone Ave. Scored some nice jewelry pieces. Somethings I found to be a little expensive, but it depends on what its worth to you. It will not deter me from going back again and again. The owner and his friend were super nice! From jewelry to clothes to furniture...they have it all. Best advice I've heard lately is if you love a place and don't want to spoil it, don't share it on the internet. But seriously I just can't not talk about this place!! They have beautiful pieces, a variety of inventory that changes daily, affordable prices and the owner Marshall is super friendly! While you would not think an antique store would be on trend, you will be suprised when you shop at SOBRO Vintage Market. Bright painted furniture, mid century lighting and general cute décor is everywhere. Throw in some one of a kind vintage clothing and accessories and your personal self can be tricked out too. Super ecelectic and continually changing, this small shop sometimes contains so much it spills out the front door.
