There were only 2 cabins of children... one boys, one girls, all ages, attached, with one female counselor between the 2, so connecting doors were left open at night. After the day campers left, that one counselor was also the lifeguard, the activities director, the cook. There were ZERO campfires in the evenings. Instead they were put in front of a movie 3 of the 5 nights... with microwaved s'mores and frozen pizza one night. They did not get to pick their activities... horseback riding, archery, games, sports, outdoor cooking, fishing were not offered. They attended prescribed activities that were mostly the same every day. There was no teambuilding, no traditions, no fun clubs, nothing that we were expecting. Kids told to 'stop crying' if they were homesick. I even emailed prior with a couple questions that would have given the perfect opportunity to set the expectation and let the parent decide if this type of environment was right for our children. So disappointed in this camp, which I know USED to be good bc I went there as a kid. So disappointed in the YMCA for not doing better and for ruining my daughter's idea of overnight camp.

When we arrived around 8 AM for our 9:10 AM tee time, there was no one in the golf shop, so we walked to the golf facilities near the driving range where there also no staff to be found. We wanted to get loose for the round, so we had to gather range balls ourselves to hit. Eventually, staff arrived around 30ish minutes before we were set to tee off to provide us with a cart and check us in. Once we set off on our round, the course was honestly a little underwhelming. Don't get me wrong - this course is very nice and well-manicured, but the green fees here are by far the most expensive in the area. Given the usual $100 green fee, I was expecting a much more professional and unique experience. If I had to choose whether to play here or Finkbine in Iowa City, I'd definitely choose the latter. Overall, I had a great morning playing a new course, but I was left wanting a little more out of my overall experience at the course. Hopefully, the next time I visit I can confidently give this course a full 5-star review!

It's a cheap thrill and free diversion for any age. However, I wouldn't advise it for anyone with a fear of heights, who's unstable on their feet, or is anxious about a moving pathway. This bridge spans an 80-foot gulch. It does sway profoundly in the middle. It moves up and down and sideways. It's also about 15 minutes from highways 218 in Iowa or 61 in Illinois. That puts you about 30 minutes out of the way round trip , plus time to cross the bridge over and back. There's a Dairy Queen style ice cream shop nearby for a cool treat. So, if you need a break or diversion for the kids this is a novelty for no or little cost.
