So much fun! My family was visiting the area, we all went axe throwing and had a blast! It was easy to book a time online, though they take walk-ins too. We got a brief tutorial and then practiced throwing for the rest of the hour. We did see a lot of improvement over that time, though I wish there was a little more coaching involved. We didn't get any of the snacks or drinks, but it's nice to have the option. Parking is right there and easy. Would definitely recommend as something new to try with pretty much anyone. read more

We went to this place and all I can say is it ran by a bunch of Karen's. They constantly come up and correct you. If fun sucking was defined it's this place. I'll never come back here. Highly recommend this place to throw some axes. The entire staff were great! Provided a personal tutorial on the wrong and rights when throwing axes. Even gave tips/tricks on getting the axe to hit the target. The staff even gave us games to play to give that competitive edge during our time. They offer alcoholic beverages. The people who work here are very nice and knowledgeable - we had a bigger group and Slate was with us for the full 2 hours helping with games and how to throw. They are very focused on safety which I really appreciate as well. I've gone twice now & both experiences have been great! It's open & spacious even with the pits being kinda close. The establishment is clean and the staff is great. You have a 1-2 hr time limit which allows for 1-2 full games depending on the group size and efficiency. I was in SLC for a work conference and when it was done, someone asked if we wanted to try this place out for fun. A group of 4 of us went to try it out and we had a lot of fun. We were walk-ins at around 5pm and we were the only ones there. More people came by the time we were leaving. I wasn't very good at axe-throwing, but got better as we went on. One of the workers there was a great coach. I don't remember his name, but he spent time with all of us to make sure we got it and gave us suggestions too. It is $15 for an hour of play. Axe throwing is the new thing these days. I was terrified at first but the staff here really make you feel comfortable. You get set up with an instructor that makes you feel comfortable and teaches you some neat tips and tricks to throw an axe properly. I have it engrained in my head... "momentum, NOT strength!" We also walked in on a Saturday night (around 9PM) and there was no wait! If you have a party of more than 6, I do suggest making reservations. But if you're a smaller party, you can just walk in (and also pay $10/hr as compared to the $20/hr if you have reservations). Our instructor was great and walked us through proper technique and continued giving tips throughout. I loved that we started off casually throwing and got into more competitive play as the group became more comfortable throwing. Before you even walk in you can hear all the yelling and excitement along with the sound of axes hitting the board. **a quick tip** do make a reservation or sometimes you'll be waiting a while before being able to play. Luckily, when I got here I didn't have to wait too long. It was probably the birthday luck shining on me. Playing here isn't too expensive. It cost $15 an hour, per lane. If you do have a large party, you might have to split lane if you want to chuck tons of axes. If it is your first time you do get like a 15-20 min tutorial of axe chucking. Your time won't start until after this. It's really fun. If you do get parch...they do sell alcohol (beer) and non alcoholic drinks. That's the best thing! And don't worry, they do take safety seriously, so if they see you being too unsafe or too drunk to play, they obviously will stop you. My wife and I took the parents to Social Axe Throwing on our most recent visit back to SLC on 5/13/19. My wife and I have done axe throwing here in Seattle and really enjoyed ourselves so we thought, take the parents. Social Axe was great. The venue was clean and set up in a way that allowed for maximum safety while giving people enough room to feel comfortable. Our instructor was very knowledgeable and gave us detailed info on how to make the most out of our visit. This is something that was lacking in our Seattle experience. The SLC venue is an old metal fabrication shop and adds a bit of charm to your axe throwing. We can't say enough about Social Axe Throwing and we look forward to coming back. read more

Definitely something different to do and check out if you're in the area. I came during their soft opening, so there was no other groups there. The front lanes/ booths are for walk ins which is $15/person per hour. We didn't call and reserve the booths in the back which you could do if you have a big party. If you're going to have alcohol you would have to reserve a private party. They do sell snacks and drinks. There is no kitchen or a soda fountain, so don't expect French fries or anything like that. I would recommend coming in as a group cause they do have games that you can compete against each other with the axes. The staff was really nice and helpful. She went over all the safety protocols and showed us how to throw the axe. She even watched us to see if we need any adjustments. This place is bare bones. They don't have tvs or not yet anyways if you did want to watch anything which could be good and bad. This allows for more personal engagement with your friends.
