I wasn't sure what to do. So, I emailed the city and asked if they were aware of anything available . Less than an hour later, I heard from the mayor offering her assistance. The next morning I heard from a member of the city council offering help. I then heard from the economic director. In fact, the economic director followed up later to make sure he had settled on an office and happy with it. That to me is amazing service from a city. I do not know of any other city that would be so helpful. It's good to live in a small city.

The Clawson Facebook group is full of citizens with dreadfully similar experiences. meanwhile, I have never seen any traffic enforcement in any residential neighborhood of our 2 mile city. what I have seen, regrettably, is - officer's complain and whine to concerned citizens about having to deal with a runaway dog in below 0 temps (DPW handled it, wihout complaint). The type of person who bemoans helping a lost freezing dog, is not someone I trust to protect and serve. - officer's harrass a minority for a broken taillight and conduct an unwarranted and unconstitutional search (that resulted in nothing, wasting everyone's time and money, and fostering unproductive police-citizen interactions). When asked what probable cause existed, in defense of this indivudal, officer's retorted with "where is your law degree from?" I am curious where any of Clawson's officer's degrees are from? High school diplomas don't count. The type of individuals who resort to personal attacks when their authority is even slightly questioned, are not people I trust to protect and serve. - the department frivously spend citizen's money (including 15k a year Flock contract that the department repeatedly refused to make public, and a new 100k pick up truck). The type of individuals who are poor stewards of their communities tax dollars, are not people I trust to protect and serve. - the department turn off Google review's to silence citizen's feedback. The type of indivudals who would rather muffle constructive commentary and feedback, than allow for valid conversation, are not people I trust to protect and serve. - most recently, an officer quit their job quite literally the second the city council refused to renew a Flock contract to allow officer's to unconstituionally stalk and survey citizens. The type of indivudal who quits their job because they can't use AI to do it for them, is not someone I trust to protect and serve. I hope the department is willing to make changes to actually instill trust and serve the community in meaningful, additive, and not punitive, ways.

Staffing is poor to where they have to shut down during business hours. The Blair/Clawson library is small but nice. The hours are a bit crazy (they're only open certain days, and I believe in the summer they're actually closed the entire weekend) but they're open Saturdays, which is fine for me. I've been here two or three times now and each time, service was fast (picking up a book on hold, and checking it out). The library is small but it seems to have a decent collection of books. I did see DVDs were $1 per week, I believe, so I'll stick to my own collection + Netflix for that. Overall, cute little library. I appreciate the easy parking situation, as well (they have their own lot).
