This is a nice little post office. Staff is generally very friendly and helpful. It can get backed up and crowded since there's only a couple windows, but they work hard to move everybody through quickly. They have all the basic supplies you need for mailing things out. read more

This post office performance is declining on a regular basis. A hold mail request means nothing as I keep getting packages and mail delivered on three separate occasions during HOLD mail dates over the last month. Staffing is poor to where they have to shut down during business hours. Also, a package with tracking was dropped off during non-business hours in their mailbox, only to never get scanned for acceptance and waited over a week for it to appear on their website. They at least admitted to not doing their job properly. read more

I'm unable to submit my complaint on the USPS website so I'll do so here to warn others. For some reason, the clerks told my father you need a street address for General Delivery. This is incorrect. It says so on the USPS website. My father picked a post office in the city I was in to write down, it happened to not be the main one so it got sent back. Now we have to wait and resend it and I'm assuming be recharged for the fast shipping. These items are essential items, them being late is very very stress inducing and causes problems. These people need to get retrained. They cannot be advising people like this. My dad also deserves a refund but I know he won't be assertive enough to get one. My husband came here the end of January to send a phone package out to our niece, in a paper box case. It was super quick and convenient here, much faster postal office than near our house. It was a quick in and out for him. The case to send it out was around $5.36 or so. It was went and out for 2 day packaging. read more

I don't expect much from the post office because, well, it's the post office. Been around for years and will continue to be here weather or not we like it. But, some locations are better then others. This specific branch isn't on my radar, but I came here today because A) I had to run an errand and mail something for my new job, and B) the other post office off Livernois lost their internet connection and couldn't run credit cards. So, I came here instead. Pulling in, there's not much to look at. It's literally crammed next to the police station, in front of a middle school with tons of kids running around, and across the street from the library. Parking is tight, and makes me nervous, and I'm not a nervous driver. Going inside, the lobby area is remarkably small. It's mostly post office boxes, with a teenie tiny area for mailing. There were only two counter girls working, but they were efficient. I didn't have to wait very long and there were a few people ahead of me in line. Thank goodness they were good at doing their job. I spent less time inside then I did trying to get out of the parking lot! The place is a bit dated and cramped. But hey, it is what it is. Staff is great, but I would rather have gone to the post office off Livernois because it's bigger, cleaner, and a lot more efficient, space wise. I would only come back here under dire circumstances. I also think they are a sub branch, and I didn't see anything about passport services. Not that I need a passport, but if I did, I would probably have to do it elsewhere. read more

Sent a package to another country the first part of December. I unfortunately lost my receipt. The party never received the gift sent. I went to post office with my credit card receipt ( no tracking number). The postal employees were able to search for the transaction and find tracking number. They then searched for the package for me. Very helpful and kind people. I would definitely recommend this facility. read more

I go to different post offices very frequently for work around Metro Detroit. This post office is consistently the best one when I have to go. If I can, I will plan to go to this post office because the customer service is so much better here than it is at other post offices around the area. The staff at this location is always really friendly and helpful, which isn't always easy to find at the post office. I appreciate this location. read more

I have had many experiences with different Post Office locations over the years. By far Clawson, is the best. They are very helpful, accommodating and extremely nice. You're better throwing your mail in the garbage if you expect it to be delivered by this branch. I went on vacation in 2015 and didn't have my mail held, because I get very little mail. Apparently my Clawson mailman took great offense to this and marked my address as "moved, no forwarding address." For almost a year since, I have left notes in my mailbox and made multiple visits to the Clawson post office to verify I still live here. Filled out forms. Showed ID. They still are sending my mail back and remind me this is really all my fault each time I try to go there in person to fix this. I finally had to rent a PO Box in Troy to get delivery of my drivers license and tax documents. I cannot believe the average miserable, belligerent US postal worker makes $75,000/yr plus benefits and the friendly, reliable people at UPS are scraping by just above minimum wage. This location should be closed. It's an embarrassment. read more

Not much has changed around Berkley's branch of the US Post Office since 1959. An air of nostalgia clings to the low brick building and oozes out from a room of post office boxes that links the entrance to a small counter area with room for three postal employees to weigh packages and slap stamps on envelopes bound for exotic locales like Peoria and Pebble Beach. A kiosk serves flat rate boxes and envelopes, and a desk near the entrance gives room for customers to fill out customs forms and addresses. Not many took advantage of it while I was there, however, squeezing into the main lobby to scribble out Aunt Matilda's address on a bubble mailer. The selection of envelopes and boxes is modest, with more supplies presumably behind the front desks. The Berkley branch does not offer modern amenities of its sister in Royal Oak, like automated postage machine (which I dearly miss) or passport services. There is simply no room to accommodate the extras. Agents turn away international packages without completed customs forms, typing in the details by hand to computers dating back to the Eisenhower administration. Customers are manually processed in a reasonable amount of time for basic business. Small request: please don't continue your cell phone conversations in line. It's already very tight and tired workers trudging in after 5 trying to make that 6 PM closing time cutoff don't want to hear about the disaster at the machinist's shop or your appointment with an endocrinologist. It's rude. A curiously musty smell pervades the building, one I'd associate more with antique stores and old bookshops. It starts to grate after a bit, making a prolonged visit sort of unpleasant. read more

Love this location! Small post office north of 14 Mile on Main St in Clawson. Usually can get in and out of here in less time than the larger post offices like Troy. Of course there are busy times everywhere. On my most recent visit to buy stamps - I was able to get everything done in less than 5 minutes and they had a great selection of holiday stamps to choose from. Super convenient parking right next to the building. Friendly staff, as well. Yay Clawson! read more

I live in Royal Oak, but this is my post office of choice. It's just a little over a mile away from my house, easy to access and has free parking. The tellers are usually friendly and efficient. I'll come here when I need to purchase stamps, send packages or file a vacation stop (even filing the vacation stop here for a home in Royal Oak is easier than doing the same thing in the Royal Oak Post Office. I'm seeing more lines at the Clawson Post Office these days as I think more people have been coming here rather than places like Royal Oak and Troy to avoid the waits, parking dramas and general surliness you sometimes encounter elsewhere. read more

The Clawson Post Office is hands-down the best of any of the USPS offices I've ever been to! The staff goes way out of their way to help and always with a smile. When I first moved to town years ago, I bought a roll of stamps and sent a couple of certified letters one Saturday ...and promptly forgot to take the stamps with me. When I returned home later that day the Clawson Post Office left me a message saying that I left the stamps behind and that my (then) carrier would deliver them Monday. Our little town is really proud of our Post Office and its incredible customer service! And Bonnie (my current carrier) you rock! read more

I love my local post office. During a house-purging, I ended up selling a LOT of stuff on ebay and half and made trips to the PO a couple times a week for a few months. I've always had friendly service here even if there's a long line. Since it's a small branch, there can be a line but not always like other places, and the staff is never grumpy or rude, most definitely unlike other branches. When I was new to mailing out large items, I also asked quite a few questions and they always answered them politely. read more

THE nicest postal workers EVER work here. I love the Clawson Post office and if I ever need to deal with a person, this is the place I go! There's usually a wait and the office is quite small, but it is well worth it to deal with people that actually want to fix your problem, find your packages, or generally help you out. This post office made each of my four Clawson resident wedding guests pay $1.34 additional postage on top of the $1.20 I had already put on each envelope in order to receive their wedding invitation! NOT ONE other city in the entire country did that to my guests in New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Illinois, Washington nor any other city in Michigan had to pay anything extra. But the 4 that went just a few miles from the Madison Heights post office where they were mailed to the Clawson post office had to pay more than double what the postage rate was measured at. The Madison Heights post office weighed and measured them, gave me a rate of $1.15 ($0.93 for the 2.1 ounce weight + $0.22 for non-machinable mail fee). How embarrassing for a couple that their guests had to PAY the post office to receive their wedding invitation! Especially when I know the postage was correct! On top of that, one guest works very long hours, 6 days a week and could not get to the post office to retrieve their invitation from these idiots, so it was returned to sender. Three weeks have gone by and the return has still not yet show up in my mailbox. read more

I have a PO Box at the Clawson Post Office, and I've grown to love the place. Parking is free (not like my own zip code), the tellers are friendly and helpful, and service is consistently good. It is rarely busy when I go there, but when it gets too busy (e.g. tax filing day), then service can decline, but I have never seen rude treatment there, even with rude customers. read more
