Get it together federal government! Went in as a walk-in to claim my social security retirement benefits and Medicare application. The wait was not bad, and Bill my customer service representative was very cool. However I was told I could not be helped at the moment. As far as I good see I was the only one there for retirement and Medicare. So the other 20 or so individuals there took precedent over a senior citizen applying for his retirement and Medicare which he has paid into for over 45 years! I really almost feel discriminated against because I am a citizen of this country and I'm not trying to claim some far-fetch disability. Take care of the people who have paid into this system their whole lives! Don't tell them despite their financial hardship at the moment they have to make an appointment that will be five weeks later and then add 6 weeks on to that to get the first check. I called bullshit federal government, get your act together and take care of the boomers and soon gen xers who are and have kept this system alive for others to take advantage of. Yes, that's five stars from me! I hadn't stepped foot in a SS office in over 20 years and been been putting this visit off, as I figured it would be a hassle or a half day chore. I called the local office to make an appointment and was informed I could just walk in to request a duplicate card. So, off I went. Their office is on Locust, just west of Ingram, near the Walmart in Pinedale. I walked in (with a mask, yes, still in November 2022), was asked a series of questions and had my purse searched. Then I went to the kiosk to get a number. I had only been seated a few minutes when I was called to a window. The girl who helped me was friendly, polite and efficient. In less than 10 minutes I was on my way out and a new card was scheduled to be on its way. read more

2 guards. 1 guard with glasses and the other without, both had forearm tattoos. The one guard without glasses was extremely hostile, weird and gave an unpleasant impression. He addressed my teenager as ma'am and I tried to explain she was a child. He then became loud and aggressive after I told him my daughter was a minor. He continued to make me feel uncomfortable while we were waiting. Thank goodness the wait wasn't too long. We waited for about an hour for a replacement card for my daughter. Once at the window it was pretty much a smooth process. I explained I needed a card for my child, the guy printed my info instead of my child's.. which was a honest mistake so he shredded that info and printed my daughter's so we could make sure everything was correct. I called 2 weeks ago to set up an appointment to change my maiden name after getting married almost 10 years ago, unfortunately you need to go in to do it. I'm only going because with Real ID your name has to match your social now, and I've been using my married name. 2 weeks ago the person I spoke took my information and said the supervisor would call me in 3-5 days to schedule an appointment. At that point I only had a temporary 30 day license since mine expired. I have now called 3 times today and waited 20 minutes before the line stopped the music, went dead, and then call dropped. It's so frustrating that they can't do normal business and this is a necessity. If the office is reading this, can your supervisor or manager please follow through with his calls, and if you all could pick up the phone, that would be great. read more

This Office does not provide help to people who contact them when it comes to correct form 1099. they give me the run around since Jan this year and not providing me the corrected 1099 and blame it on the processing center. Have been reaching out to this office in person 3 times this year and over the phone 3 times and the agents who answer the phone are not helping at all they just want to hang up on callers and not make an effort to help and telling me what do you want me to do? I cannot help you go to the office and talk to someone. every time I call the phone number the infromation provided is wrong and missleading and taking me in the loop. I files extension for tax return this year because they did not provide me corrented 1099 and the time to do taxes after extension is approching fast and still not able to get the correct form. I have never dealt with such lame and losuy client servcie by social security ever till now. This place is a joke. I came as soon as they opened, waited in line, went through security once I got in the building and took a number at the kiosk. I waited for over an hour, and literally all of the people in line behind me we're helped before I was. Seriously? The only reason I was there was to show them my marriage certificate so that I could change my last name on my card. By the time I was called, I was only at the window for two minutes. The man that helped me at the window said that there is no particular order with the number you are given on your ticket. Well there should be! It should be first come first serve! I don't know what the deal is with government agencies, especially in California, but my God the service is awful. read more

So I changed my review after the entire experience. We got there at 10:05 am and didn't get called until like 12:10 it went by pretty quick took a while to call our number. They need more seats. I gotta say once they called our number the person that helped us was really fast and polite. And we asked him about the number calling and he explained that they try to call the people that have been waiting longer. I accompanied my mom to this office to apply for her social security benefits... believe me I was prepping myself for a 2 hour wait and rude service! TOTALLY NOT the case though! Thank God! We got there at 8:50a.m. and the line was right to the end of the bldg, approximately 35 ppl ahead of me but as soon as they opened the doors the line moved quickly and after security check there was a nice young lady helping at the check in kiosk. We got our number, sat and waited, got called up to a window where they directed me to a computer to fill out the application and I could ring a little desk bell if I needed help. I got to a point in the application where I needed help and then a nice gentlemen at window 2 helped me fill out the rest, submitted and done! We were out of there at 10! Total of 1 hour and 10 minutes! For my first time there I would say that was not bad at all!!! read more

They still haven't paid for disability, and the case was approved in APRIL. Literally what could possibly take this long??? I wish I could give this place 0 stars, especially Abel, the so-called one in charge at the Fresno Locust location. At least that's what he told me when I asked to speak to his supervisor. He was snide, rude, and officious. I made the mistake of trying to get my name as they have it changed to my LEGAL name, which is the one on my drivers license. He informed me that SS is the legal one, and they won't use my driver license as proof of my identity. Nor will they use 1099s or IRS tax returns. They really make it difficult to complete what should be a simple task. And there's a decent way to tell someone your rule, Abel. You clearly missed that class. I can't believe SS would have someone this arrogant running an office that's supposed to be serving the public. Called to make an appt for my mom, wait time was 1 hour on the phone, only to be told they can not make an appt if she's not on the phone, she does not speak English, and even if she did she doesn't want to wait an hour on the phone. the employee who picked up Sabrina, then says my mom needs to call back, and wait for a translator over the phone, if an English speaking takes one hour to pick up, can you imagine how long waiting for a translator to pick up! I asked her since you work there what days and times are best to come in, the idiot Sabrina was clueless and offer no suggestions, geesh what a dumbie. I have been trying for two weeks to get help, but no one answers the phone to even try to help you. They put you one hold and then drop you off or the phone rings twenty times and no one answers. Two weeks ago when I spoke to someone who was working from home, she assured me she would send me the form I needed. I have left her three messages asking if she mailed the form, but she has not returned my calls. In the meantime I can't get anyone to answer the phone. What a waste of my taxpayer money to pay these incompetent people. read more

Welcomed by a courteous and friendly security guard, sat in a few of the plush chairs (they had so many available!), and were promptly called to a window where our application was submitted in an efficient manner. Wait. That's not what happened at all. We looked around for open chairs (metal pews)--a man vacated a padded chair against the wall which my pregnant wife promptly sat down in. About 5 minutes later, the security guard walks over and tells her she needs to get up and leave the chair in the hall where it belongs. Nice move dude. We eventually found seats, and I found a coworker, which made the next hour a little more bearable. After finally being called to a window, we were told the computer system for interviews had just gone down. The representative said she would not call anyone else for thirty minutes, and when she got back she would see if the system was up. I (not quite as calmly as possible) explained that we had been waiting to apply for a number in order for her to pay taxes. She was very tolerant and patient; calmed me down a bit and then left to check on the system status. When she returned, she was able to login and complete our interview. Positive end to a stressful experience. All in all, if you want your children to build character; bring them here. read more

I've been trying to send over documents for MONTHS in order to correct an issue and they have given me the ultimate hassle there is. Every person I spoke to gave me the run around and would switch up what was needed to be sent in. Never have I ever dealt with such unprofessional people in my life. My all credits are going specially to JARVIS , he is very patient , soft spoken and very helpful worker. His help is a great help to me . I reached there without making appointment around 8.08 A.M and waited till the office opened at 9.00 A.M . This place is worse then the DMV people wait here for 2-3 hours just to get a new card. Chairs are hard metal and you can't bring in food so if your waiting that long you starve. The office on Locust Ave in Fresno is garbage. The staff are useless to say the least. During the covid 19 pandemic i contacted the 800 number about acquiring social security card for my sibling. I was told to send in birth certificates, court order papers, drivers licenses to the local office. All had to be original and they will be mailed back as soon as the office gets them, so i thought. After mailing in the documents with my drivers license almost a month goes by with no answer. Mind this is my drivers license that they have. After a month a couple weeks i decided to call them. To my surprise they never looked at them and was probably sitting under a bunch of other documents. I was also told that they didnt received my documents or drivers license that they never received it. I was shocked because i sent the documents certified mail. Its my DRIVERS LICENSE they lost. After a couple hours of looking i got a call back saying "oh we found your stuff, we are gonna send it back now." I was informed that they will process my application the following week. Its been a month and still nothing. Call them back today and my application has been denied. So it basically took them 3 months to tell me that the info they requested for was not what they needed. Now i have to resend everything again. Wow. Not sure where they find these idiots working there. They are lazy and inconsistent at their job duties. It hard to believe they work for the US government. Just a bunch of fat lazy people there. read more

So I read all of the reviews and figured it would be a horrible experience but it was painless and the gal that helped me out was super sweet. Tips for people to make it smooth... 1) They open at 9am, I came at 8 am and there was already a line of around four people.. not bad. At 8:50 am there was a line wrapped around the side of the building so if you have a brain do as I told you. 2) Come prepared with documents.. ie I came with the form to change my name pre filled out which you can get online... even the teller was impressed. The worse governmental agency by far and I work for the DMV. The girl at the window was very rude and insensitive and could careless about her job or the customers. She was horrible I had to speak with her supervisor and that's not even my style. They don't have nearly enough seats and the seats they do have are uncomfortable and stacked on top of each other. The wait wasn't too bad. My number was called in 20 minutes. She called me once and then skipped me as I finished my signature and application for a new card. Rudely told me to get another number.
