Save your trip! Visit their website to update your personal information, apply for benefits, and access other services. If you need in-person help, you must call to make an appointment before you visit. You can also create a mySocialSecurity account from their website to request a replacement Social Security card, get a Proof of Benefits letter, and more. Appointment based only. Make sure you make appointment online ahead of time. They check it at the entrance by the security guard, and also when you check-in at the receptions, you need to be in their system so you can get a slot/ticket #, then you will be called to the window. If you don't realize your number is being called there is a verbal announcement. This keeps verbal announcements for all people minimal and reduces the noise. Overall, this is an excellent example of a govt office working well and providing great service. The staff were extremely friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond to help. They completed all the paperwork within minutes. Lot of free parking in front of the office. The office is maintained clean and neat. I received my Letter back April 25,2026. The SS Office was open today. If it was open last month. Why wasn't my Letter Delivered? On the front of it was written VOC. Does that mean VAC (Vacant) ? I was so afraid to use the system to get benefits for my son whose father died in January 2024. Let me just say....Ms. Hawkins, Claims Specialist, from the Norcross office blew me away with her compassion, professionalism, follow up and follow through. Her efficiency was bar none. She didn't mince words. She was knowledgeable and made sure I understood everything. She treated me like a person and not a "case". But what stood out the most was that she handled me with such kindness after this unexpected death. Her words of comfort were icing on the cake for helping through this grieving process. I followed the instructions given on ssa.gov but I've wasted my time because apparently I can't get an appointment anytime within this next couple of weeks just to get a replacement card. Goodness help the people who work here. Every idiot known to mankind shows up at their doorstep looking to milk the system. The poor security person asked a simple question: what are you here for? Most couldn't answer it, they just mumbled or showed papers of one sort or another and made the guy guess. I showed up at 8:30, there were about 20 people ahead of me, they split the line in two depending on what you were there for. I was seated at window #2 by 8:40 at a "Fast Track" lane (I suppose I was able to verbalize what I wanted which distinguished me!). I completed my form and the window was open by 9 sharp. A supervisor checked my form at 8:49. My business was completed by Jon very efficiently and I was out the door at 9:03. Yay! read more

Came to change my name on July 11, 2019. Waited a little over an hour, which was to be expected, given the number of people there. The staff was friendly and quick! My plan was to arrive 30 minutes early, with documents filled out, my favorite book in hand and a snack in my bag. My daughter and I arrived at 8:45. I decided to try this location to see if the experience would be different from one I visited years back. It's a nice location clean with enough parking and seating inside. I went on a Wednesday in which it seems all the social security offices close at noon on that day but open till 4:30pm the rest of the weekdays. It wasn't too busy and I stood in line briefly in order to check in at the computer. You get a print out that will tell you what number you are in the queue. They call out the numbers on a clear telecom system and also have the numbers in queue displayed on a screen. There was a security guard nice enough to tell me what form I needed. They have the forms available there so you don't need to print them out prior to going there. My wait was 24 minutes for a request for a new card. read more

Well... when you have to go to a government office, we all know what that's like but I will say, they had a nice system worked out here at the SSA. I guard motioned for me to get my ticket, they had plenty of windows with actual employees working them and for a building that was packed with people, I only had to wait about 20 minutes. Once my number was called, I believe I got lucky and got one of the managers, she took my papers, and got me out of there in a few minutes. We even chatted and joked around a little. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice job. I hope anyone else who has to go down there has the same experience I had. It was relatively painless. Lol Much better than the darn DMV. read more

Goodness gracious! I came here to get a replacement social security card for my daughter. The parking here is horrible. I had to reverse drive, because when you make a right to enter, there is no exit. When I walked in, there were people standing, and filling every seat. I was lucky, because a guy that was sitting, moved his paperwork. That of course, allowed me to sit. I got there at 10:35, and was able to check in at 10:41. To replace a child's social security card, there are certain document that you need, of course. What I don't understand is why you may need an actual ID, as proof, for a child. I caught hell trying to prove my daughter's identity. While sitting there waiting on my number, I began to see people getting discouraged. They started walking out. People were complaining, and folding their arms. I did a little dance, because that meant I was one step closer to being called, for every one person that left. When I was called up, I gave all of the documentation. Birth certificate, court ordered name change, my left arm, and my pinky. It still wasn't enough. I needed a photo ID, or medical records with a doctor's signature (had to include her date of birth on the document, and an original,) or an insurance card with her date of birth and my name on it....... Man! When the social security worker was telling me those items, I told him that I most definitely have something like that in my car. He said that he would give me three minutes, and if I'm not back, he was going to move on. Well, I fast limped my tail to the car. I didn't know I had that type of limpy speed in me (I have back trouble, and sciatica, so my left hip hurts constantly.) Anyhow, when I went to the car, I was able to find a doctor's note with everything I needed on it. I gave it to the representative, and he accepted it! Boy, you talk about luck! I did NOT want to come back to that place. I must admit, if people had all of their documentation, it would probably be a lot faster there. I guess I added to the low productivity. We ended up leaving at 1:00 pm. read more

He was super patient with all of us as he answered questions that people had, helped those who were disabled and in general displayed a level of kindness not often seen in government offices. Although the wait was a bit lengthy, over an hour, once I was called, I was serviced with dignity and the gentleman who assisted me was sharp and willing to assist in any way possible. When you get there it says its only by appointment, they have a drop box and a phone number to call for services. There's no one at the door guiding or answering questions. You can't get in the building and when you call the number provided it just rings and rings. No help what so ever. People just stand outside not knowing what to do.
