Hickory Trail Hospital - Only a portion of my phone records to show how absolutely ridiculous it is to get ahold of someone.

As the CPO of Promise House , I am very pleased with the service I was provided for my clients here…read moreat the maternity home . Due to the severity of the Client and my specialty being a therapist myself , I transported the client . When we got there , it was a pleasant experience. very welcoming , hands on ! the director of intake came out herself and spoke with me and the client together . she even ensured her safety and comfortability. my client vomited every where and it was cleaned quickly and the receptionist even got Involved. To add to this thriving facility , I even was able to see a group therapist " Jason" in passing . He assisted my client and even went into details about the outpatient and inpatient programs . Before I left , my client was so calm that she looked forward to not returning to my facility . she herself felt as though it was all going to be handled and she was in good hands . I thank you !

Hickory Trail Hospital, for the most part, was not exemplary of quality psychiatric care. I felt…read morelike I was talked down to and treated like a prisoner rather than a person. I will say, Mr. Charlie, Mr. Drew, and Nurse Pam were very kind and talked to me candidly and kindly, which I appreciated, but for the most part, staff members were aloof and unreceptive. I was seen by my psychiatrist for 5 minutes and he managed to make two separate errors in my medical chart due to misguided assumptions. He put down that I had cannabis use disorder when I told him I use it medicinally, prescribed by a doctor, for chronic pain. He also said that I had a "limited support system," when my evaluation was not indicative of that, as I have several supportive family members in the DFW area. In addition, I was not allowed to view my medical chart by several staff members, despite it being a violation of the HIPPA Privacy Rule. It is my understanding that there is a caveat to this rule that states if a provider determines that reading your medical chart would lead to aggressive or suicidal behavior they can prevent you from reading your medical information. HOWEVER, this explicit denial must be in writing and determined on a case-by-case basis by the doctor. When I asked multiple times for access to my chart, no bureaucratic decisions were made; all of the nurses and other staff members I talked to would give me an immediate no. The doctor never performed a subsequent evaluation and never communicated to any of the staff members his explicit denial of my ability to read my chart. The HIPPA Privacy Rule explicitly states that denial of access to your chart cannot be a blanket decision made by the hospital for every patient. Despite this, I was told that a lack of access to my medical chart was hospital policy, implying that every patient is denied access regardless of whether or not explicit denial for that specific patient has been documented and stated in writing by the doctor. The bathrooms were also in unsanitary condition. The food was okay, standard cafeteria food. We got to go outside after every meal, which was nice. My chief complaint was my concerns being ignored after experiencing severe verbal harassment and accusations of sexual assault by a fellow patient. Multiple patients had made explicit complaints about said patient, not just me. It took 5 days for any action to be taken by the staff to move this patient to a different unit in the hospital despite my saying that their behavior was affecting the quality of my psychiatric care. Additionally, a fellow patient was taken off several psychoactive medications cold turkey and experienced severe withdrawal effects as a result. The same patient was also denied a second psychiatric evaluation to determine the need for cessation of inpatient care despite their right to do so being clearly outlined in the patient rights handout that's given during admission. Furthermore, the group therapies were trite, childish, and unhelpful. I did not feel like I could speak candidly without furthering my stay, which ironically added to my stress during my care. Overall, Hickory Trail was not a pleasant inpatient experience and I would not recommend it.

Would not recommend! This was an experience out of combination of Lord of the Flies, One Flew Over…read morethe Cuckoo's Nest, and Girl Interrupted. Every horrible Hollywood interpretation of a psychiatric hospital was perfectly played out in this sideshow of horrors! The staff was rude, condescending, and lacked compassion. I literally had a nurse mock me for crying twice! I was admitted because I was in the midst of a mental health crisis! Of course I was crying!!! Anyhow, I ended up getting the patient advocate involved because of my disappointment with the lack of programming, the unprofessionalism of the staff, and their failure to provide basic needs. I had to ask for clothes, a journal, toilet paper, etc... Patients' with physical ailments were suffering and patients with no history or symptoms of mental illness were there due to homelessness, dementia, or avoiding criminal issues. One afternoon, I had to come to the aid of a patient who was profusely vomiting due to medication withdrawal (it took her two days to see a psychiatrist who finally approved her prescription). Anyhow, I stood with her, fanning her, placing cold towels on her neck while we waited 5 minutes for a nurse to finally saunter annoyingly to where we were. This place should be investigated, fined, and closed or sold. After this experience I promised myself, should I ever become suicidal or require psychiatric hospitalization again; I will choose to stay home and hope for the best. This experience was traumatizing and caused more harm than good.

I initially contacted the hospital and spoke to a very nice and professional receptionist, who politely transferred me to their intake department. From there, everything went downhill. I first spoke to intake worker, Barb?, to inquire about the potential placement for the patient. I was placed on hold multiple times and was even hung up on. I was able to call back and speak to Barb again, who transferred me to a worker name Even?. Even hastily picked up the call and stated, " This is Even", as if I were disturbing his day. This young man did not provide an introduction as to who he was or which department I was speaking to. I felt as if I were being a nuisance although I was only attempting to coordinate transfer to their facility. I inquired about placement for my patient and asked if they received the clinicals that were faxed to them. Even quickly cut me off and stated " I gotta transfer you to the Care Center" and transferred the call. I was able to speak with Myra in the Care Center. I assumed that since I was transferred to the "Care Center" that they would be a little bit more professional and handle matters with "Care". Boy, was I wrong again. Myra was just as rude as her colleagues. I couldn't hear what she was saying due to the ongoing, loud conversations in the background. When I finally asked about the clinicals, Myra flatly stated that they will be reviewed and someone will be calling me back later that day. Just this brief experience alone made me second guess referring anyone to this facility in the near future. I work and communicate with MANY inpatient hospitals on a daily basis and I must say that this was the WORST encounter I've EVER experience. If this is professionalism, I would hate to see what being unprofessional is all about.

I just want to take a moment to thank Breezy for being so patient and kind with me. I originally went in thinking I would have to get my tooth removed due to financial concerns and honestly, fear of needing a root canal. Breezy took her time with me, reassured me, and encouraged me to save my tooth by getting the root canal and crown instead. Because of her, I spoke with the office manager and was able to get on a payment plan that worked for my budget while still getting started the same day. When I went to the back, Breezy literally held my hand while I was being numbed and never left my side. That meant more to me than she probably knows. Her kindness and patience truly made a difference. I also want to thank Dr. Michael Wistrom, who performed my procedure--you were incredibly gentle, patient, and efficient. The procedure was quick and, most importantly, painless. As the numbness is wearing off, I feel great--no discomfort at all. As a busy mom, I was so nervous about the aftermath, but I honestly feel amazing. This experience gave me the confidence to move forward with completing the rest of my dental work. Breezy, you are truly special. You can tell when someone genuinely loves what they do, and it shows in your care. I pray you continue to be successful--you really touched me today. Exceptional customer service like this is rare, especially in this field. I can't wait to come back for my permanent crown. Thank you all again!

My experience with Modern Dentistry was extremely disappointing and concerning. The dentist…read morerepeatedly pushed a $425 quarterly deep-cleaning procedure (this cost was for each side of my mouth--on top of what my insurance already covered--and claimed they could not perform a standard cleaning unless I agreed. I was told I had gum disease, which later proved to be false. I sought a second opinion at Precision Dental & Orthodontics, where I learned I did not have gum disease. Instead, I had one tooth needing targeted care. Additionally, the crown Modern Dentistry placed on my back tooth failed twice, and Precision Dental was able to correct their work for half the cost, with no out-of-pocket expense from me. The office manager at Modern Dentistry attempted to pressure me into unnecessary laser and chemical deep-cleaning services, insisting they were mandatory. After reporting the issue to Humana, I was informed that the office had even placed Humana on a block list when contacted for verification. Based on my experience, Modern Dentistry operates in a predatory manner, especially toward seniors. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this office research other providers and compare pricing and treatment plans before moving forward. These people lie and appear to work in a criminal manner!!!
