Did you know that Missouri and Kansas are both states that won't allow you to order a replacement copy of your Social Security card online like most other states do? Yep- lucky us! So since they haven't entered the 21st century in this way for some inexplicable reason, you have to go down to this office, fill out a form, and then see a clerk who will order one for you and have it sent to your house in about 2 weeks' time. So since I needed a new drivers license and that requires a SS card which I lost about 5 moves ago, I trekked down here. It's difficult to find. Even my GPS was confused, but I finally found it after winding around a boring little strip mall-looking office park. Just FYI it's the south side of the complex. I love that the MO & KS DMV's offer a way to get in line via text so you're not standing in an endless line, and maybe this office has that capability too but it didn't occur to me until I was already there and they have no WiFi so it became a moot point anyway. So I took a number and stood in line. It took about 45 minutes to be seen by a clerk. The place was standing room only and I feared I'd be there for hours on end, but luckily the line moved pretty quickly. It's not fun doing boring adult crap like going to the Social Security Office, but if you must, just know it won't be as mind numbingly annoying as you may think, and hopefully your line will move fairly quickly like mine did. And take a book! Oh and don't wear your coat because the heat was cranked up to at least 90. Government waste at its finest, naturally. read more

Hello, I noticed in my bank this morning that this site took $70 out of my account. I already proceeded charges against this site. I did not authorize any such transaction and didn't even have the app on my phone. I'm not rich so when this company did this, it put me me in the red for over $45. Terrible experience. After being on hold for about 30 minutes I got James last name unclear, on the phone and he told me that I cannot claim benefits on my ex-spouse at 62. When last week I was told by Miss Batton from the SSA office, that I can and that I can do it now. Why am I being lied to? I searched it up online and it says that I can. I had occasion to visit the Social Security office in Lenexa twice this week. Both times I found that everyone from the security guard who greeted me and provided information on checking in, to the person who checked me in, to the two agents with whom I spoke about the issue I was having, extremely professional, pleasant, and helpful. My total time there, including wait time was about 30 minutes on the first day and just under an hour on the second day. Both times seemed reasonable given the number of people who were there for help, the availability of just four Social Security agents, and the fact that I didn't have an appointment on either day. I ran into a very difficult issue over failure to receive payments due to a change in bank account information. It was a technical glitch that took about a year to resolve. As difficult as matters with Social Security can get, I want to say that the intentions of the people at Lenexa at good and they put in the necessary effort over the long haul to get it resolved. I wanted to say a special thank you to one of the supervisors - Lauren - who stepped in, stepped up the pressure on Woodlawn, and finally got the money released. If I could give them no stars, I would. I was on hold for one hour and 45 minutes the second time I called. Two hours and 35 minutes the first time I called. They weren't able to answer my questions and basically it was just four hours of getting very upset. For such an important Office you would think that they would know how to do their jobs and how to answer the questions that are asked, the questions I asked, were pertaining to disability, SSI and Social Security. I would give zero stars if I could. I can not believe that such an important office can not do their job. Even the manager, Lauren. I have been trying to get a replacement social security card for over 3 months now, and to no avail. The very 1st one got printed from Topeka but never made it to me so it's just out there for anyone to get, and we wonder why there is such a big identity theft crisis going on these days? Well apparently it all starts with the government. Huh?? Interesting. So, after the first one got "lost" I go to the Lenexa office to apply yet again, only to find out weeks later of not receiving it again, only to find out it never even got submitted!! So, again, I reapply for a third time, again, weeks after not receiving it, I call their and only to find out it never got submitted!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?? So, manager Lauren went on computer and got it all done, you will receive it within 10 days. Business day 10, still nothing, I call talk to some man who tells me I have only applied 1 time 3 months ago. Until I get angry, he says oh let me check one more thing, oh yeah here it says it never got submitted!! OMG.....WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? SO I now have to take time out of my schedule once again to go up there to have it. Not get submitted again I'm sure?? It's very scary that they have such incompetent people working there to do what I believe, is an extremely important job. Could I give negative stars. I'm on hold forever. I also get disconnected. I don't get a return phone call after leaving numerous messages in a 3-4 week time span. They say "your call is important to us" Ya right! No return phone call. So inconsiderate and unprofessional. I'm appealing what I got approved for retirement and it's been over 4 months since they got my appeal. You can't make this up. Besides waiting 2 hours like I expected, I was called by Al to help me with my paperwork. He was so kind and polite. He got me started by setting up my account which I pulled up at home and completed. Everything from then on has been so easy to do. The building was easy to find. I just followed my GPS. I would call ahead and schedule an appointment next time. The 2 hour wait was too long. That's why I rated this review 4 stars. I did meet some really nice people while I waited. This place is absolutely awful. Everytime & day I have called i've been on the phone ON HOLD for 40+ minutes. Ridiculous.

This is the weirdest thing I was asked to do so far which is review Social Security on 95th St in Lenexa Kansas. All I was trying to do was get their local phone number which should have been something like 913-xxx-xxxx, So I could make an appointment to drop off some papers on Monday. Instead I get a series of toll-free numbers that connect me with everything from the national social security answer center! Why can't they give me a local phone to save my life; and, instead, I get a series of national toll-free phone numbers that connect me with everything from the central SS office or a regional toll free number that gets me a company of unknown origin who doesn't even know their number's being given out as the local social security contact number in south KC, KS! read more

The spouse and I visited the Social Security Administration office in Lenexa, KS today in order to request replacement cards. We found the entire process to be both interesting and stress free. Starting with the guard on duty at the entry door, who was not only very polite, but who also assisted in making us comfortable in using the automated check-in kiosk. With printed ticket in hand, we joint the twenty or so others already waiting in the sitting area. You're not exactly in the lap of luxury while waiting, but it does appear that our tax dollars were wisely spent. The place is neat and orderly. The active display board shows the customer numbers currently being serviced and it's easy to follow. We waited less than 30 minutes and, once called upon, we couldn't have been more pleased with the service we received from agent Ashley. In addition to being highly professional and simply delightful to communicate with, she impressed us as being both efficient and thorough. Agent Ashley completed all the necessary adjustments to both my spouse's and my records in fewer than five minutes! At the conclusion, we were out the door in what resulted in a total "on site time" of just under 45 minutes, including parking. Not bad. We've had to occasionally wait considerably longer than that at a doctor's office. As for finding the office...well, once you've turned south off 95th street and should you get to a Stop sign, you've gone too far. Make a U turn and enter into the first parking lot on the right.
