Well, I was expecting the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised by what an easy experience it was! However, a few caveats: Definitely make a reservation beforehand, because they ask you before you even enter the building if you have one. Also, arrive 30 minutes early- for 2 reasons: parking- while there are places around the building to park on the street, good luck finding a space. I ended up simply parking in the garage- which, by the way, costs $20 for 2 hours. Also, you can leave the garage through 2 doors, but those same doors are locked from the outside, so you have to walk all the way around when you leave to get to your car. Upon entering the building, you will be asked if you have a reservation, and you will have to show it to the security guard. Once in, be prepared for airport security- removing all metal, going through a metal detector, and being wanded. For me, anyway, after that, everything was a breeze. Upon entering the 3rd floor, I was again asked if I had a reservation and had to show it to the security guard, who in turn directed me to the kiosk where I signed in and was given a paper ticket. I was given a number that corresponded to a screen. I sat down in a very uncrowded room, and a few minutes later, my number came up; they also sent me a text. I had a very pleasant agent who helped me do a name change on my social security card, and I was done in less than 10 minutes! I headed back down and got in my car, paid for parking on the way out, and was on my way! read more

Getting through to the national or local office is stressful to say the least. After getting through the automated operator, I was on hold for 20 minutes (calling first thing at 8:00 am EST), I explained that I need to change my name on my card, we were disconnected. When I called again, the representative transferred me to the 'technical representative when I do Not have a 'user' or 'password' issue. I CANNOT get through their screening website even to get an appointment. When I called the published number for the local office, I was really speaking to the National office. The system is so inept that after confirming my appointment, I asked her if it was the location I am familiar with, she explained it was not. She explained that according to my Zip Code, that is the office the system generates and became 'snippy' with me. The irony is that the office closest to home has my same Zip Code yet the system does not allow them to make an appointment with that office. From our experience and that of friends, people get there at 6:00 am in order to get an appointment to be seen that day. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! to say the least!!! read more

This office is permanently closed. It should be taken off from the list. When it was open last year, I accompanied my clients as an interpreter. Even we arrived by 8:30 am, we had to wait for four hours in the queue line. No parking space at all. I had to park a couple blocks away. read more

I actually went on the wrong day so was turned away at the door, went back to my car, and then got stuck in the most ridiculous line to get out because the scanner wasn't working. I spent more time in the line to get out then I spent doing anything else on the property. For that, I was charged $21.30! How is this even legal? It's definitely amoral and as greedy as anything I've ever seen. These are appointments that people have to make and go to, it's not like we're going to Disney. I have to say that when I called today and connected with Ayala in the Orlando office, I immediately could tell I hot the jackpot. Went to this location on July,15,2024 and found out that this location was now closed and their new location was on north orange Ave across from the Orange County Courthouse. So I had to drive downtown to the new location and they make you pay for parking and you now have to go through a metal detector and men have to take off their belts in order to get inside the building, the S.S. After waiting on hold on the phone for hours I decided to drive here to try to get answers. The Security guards are the nicest people, also at the Kissimmee location. So kind and helpful. I arrived at 8:45am to a long line, but was moved to the Express area once inside. I was gone by 9:45am. If you're just going for a name change or a card replacement and YOU HAVE ALL of the documentation and application complete, ask a guard where to go before waiting in the long line. I was disappointed with the service or lack of service provided to some of the patrons of this office. Although I am a native English speaker, I noticed that there were mostly three different demographics of people being served but only two being catered to; that is English and Spanish speaking customers. The staff ONLY SPOKE ENGLISH OR Spanish and all of the documents required to be filled out were in English or Spanish. The other demographic that I am referring to are Haitian. Even if the office does not have Haitian Creole speakers, How hard can it be to at the very least have documents available in Haitian Creole. This as been the worst experience. I've tried to get my name changed on my ssc for over 2 months now . I received a card and my name Was spelled wrong ( the name that was previously Already on it ) so I reached out to them . Spoke to a very rude women telling me I called the wrong office and I needed the card center so I tried them 4 times and spent over 3 hours on hold for the phone to just stop . Then I called the first number back and spoke to a nicer woman and pleaded with her to help me . She reached the card center and I had a nice man call back and tell me to bring in the wrong card. I did and I was told my new card would come in 4 business days. It has been over 20 business days and I've called and called and can never get anyone on the phone . This location is near the International Airport. As someone who lives on this side of town, I appreciated that I didn't have to go into downtown to take care of getting a replacement SS card. This location will also help the growing Lake Nona area as well. If I didn't have the help of the 'security guard', it would have been very confusing. If you are a citizen, this allows you to go to through the "express" line. You enter some of your personal info and reason for your visit at the kiosk and then you are given a number. You then "sit" in a line for expressers, and you shift down a seat when either an 'express window' is available, or your number is called.....whichever comes 1st. We were 2nd in line to be called, then our number was called. But hey, once we got back there, it took 2 minutes. What helped was that the needed form was filled out, and the ID matched the address etc. It's a pretty basic set up inside. Go with paperwork ready, and your patience in hand. read more

Our daughter had an issue with her name so off we go to get it corrected. I accidentally forgot one of the documents needed but had a copy from the court. Our clerk allowed us to run home get the raised seal document to prove name correction and didn't make us go to the back of the line. I went in today to request a social security card replacement. After reading reviews on Yelp and Google I decided to print out the application online and was mentally prepared to wait the hour or so as other reviewers had mentioned. I arrived around 2:40 PM today and to my surprise the parking lot was pretty empty, there were no lines of people waiting out the door and there were plenty of seats available in the waiting room. Since it was my first time there, I appreciated that the security guard helped explain the process of getting the ticket from its only kiosk. When I sat down I noticed that there were only 2 people ahead of me. The rep that helped me process my application was so nice and made it all such a breeze. Boy did I get lucky!! I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. The only downside is, that I have to wait about 2 weeks to get my replacement card in the mail. read more

Went in today, at around 1:15pm and the place was packed. However, upon entering, you are supposed to take a "turn slip" and wait. The machine that provides the slip wasn't working properly and there wasn't an employee in site. I had a great experience during my visit here. I was expecting to be there all day. And was dreading to go. So I walked in at 09:15 for a post marriage name change and got a ticket. I literally walked out at 10:05. That's amazing because it was super packed. The security guard had a great system. He had everyone seated in an area and whenever a number was called you would move over to the next chair until it was your time to be seen at the window. When I got to the window, I was helped by Santiago. He was amazing. He is the creme de la creme when it comes to Customer services. You can tell he enjoys his job! read more

5 stars for the SSCC?! Who would have thunk it was possible. I do have to credit the fellow Yelpers who have also given reviews for if it was not for your feedback that I would have remained a narrow minded sheep thinking I had to get in line 1 hour before the center opens and take off work half a day. When planning your visit, consider waiting until about 2:30-3pm to arrive. I got there around 2:25 pm and was in and out in 40 minutes, which is still pretty amazing. When I arrived I followed the ample signage to which suite to go to for my needs. Before you can actually enter the building you have to be signaled by a security guard. Due to the volume levels this center receives, sometimes the inside lobby is at its maximum. During peak business hours this line can stretch outside (if you get caught in this, plan for the elements with jacket, sunglasses, water, umbrella, etc). Once you make it INSIDE, you must check-in at a kiosk with some personal information. The lobby is divided in half with an express lane for citizens (thank you SSCC for this!!) Once you're checked-in and are headed to your express lane seat you'll notice that the seating area on that side isn't a free for all. Everyone sitting is in a line, and it snakes around the express side of the lobby calling the next express line person up as a window is made available for the next person. Just listen, pay attention and follow the directions. So anyway, back to arrival time. There were very few people trickling in after me (2:25 pm) so I think if you even got there 2:45/3pm you could get in and out a few minutes faster than when I did. Either way, definitely not terrible. TIP: bring something to listen to or read. Don't bring your entire family here to sit and wait with you, that does nothing but clog up the whole process. read more

He called me back and said he could then in a pile of mail that was just thrown around. Went today around 3pm and the place was not crowded at all, maybe ten people ahead of me. I read that early morning there's long lines so avoided that by going late afternoon. They close at 4pm. Walked right in to the building marked 102, on the right, for all card services. You sign in at the computer kiosk get a number and wait to be called. Very easy, waited 10-15 mins tops. There was plenty of seating. Once called the process was quick, I had filled my application out ahead of time but they have the forms there and you can easily fill one out while waiting. Bring the ID documents you need and honestly this was easy breezy, two weeks to get a replacement card in mail they say. I dreaded going but have zero complaints. Lucky me? I can't say I was shocked by any of the practices here, it is government services. What more can you expect. I arrived at 8am on a Thursday, the office opens at 9am. There were already about 20-25 people in line when I arrived. The line continued to grow quickly so make sure you are in the right line one line is the social security line and the other is just for social security cards. There's no where to sit, they should add some benches out there since people stand in line literally every single morning waiting for 9am. When the doors finally opened the security guard allows 5 people in at a time. There's one kiosk inside with an attendant asking you why your there and then she give you a ticket. There's a fairly large seated waiting area inside. There were 4 ppl ahead of my for the type of service I was there for. I don't think I sat for more than 5 minutes before I heard them call my name. I drove here during my work day because this office has the most absurd hours (9a-4p Monday through Friday). I prepared my paperwork and made sure that I had a block of time to go over there and wait in line. When I arrived, I tried to open the door and found that it was locked. I read a sign taped to the window: "Closed today due to unforeseen circumstances." The other side of the SS office remained open however. It is so irritating that they chose to have an incredibly short window of time to be open and then have the audacity to close for whatever random reason they want. I'll jump through all the government hoops and pay my taxes, but can we at least stick to the posted hours? I have a job and responsibilities but I'll take more time off to try again. This place is way the heck out there, mostly because it services all of Seminole, Osceola, and Orange county. So unless you live right in the area, you're in for a drive. Trust me, the trip from Sanford is not fun.Ok so don't be surprised if there are absolutely no parking spaces. Because there won't be. But whatever you do, do NOT park illegally as they WILL tow you (they've towed 2 cars in the last hour I've been here), and don't try to be smart and park at the 7-11 either. They'll tow you from there too. I parked in the apartment complex behind the 7-11 as advised by the security guard who works here. He said that's the safest place to park if you can't park in the lot. Oh yes and wear deodorant, people! A hundred sweaty bodies crowded in a hot room is bad enough. We don't need B.O. too. It's located near the International Airport. I had to go because I needed a new SS card as mine was busted. I went online and filled out the paperwork ahead of time like a good girl and headed to the office around 1:45, they close at 3pm. The door closed at 3pm, they help everyone in the office with a number though. Walked in with 40 people ahead of me and for what seemed to be hours in between each person, numbers were being called. I didn't get it though, as soon as someone was called, I swear they were only back there 5 minutes. However, the place is very clean and neat so I didn't mind much waiting. What really got under my skin while I was waiting was the "security guard" in the waiting room. He answered questions, locked the door, played on his phone... but what REALLY errked me was one family left and gave him their number because he helped them. He then gave it to the next person to walk in the door, they ended up being 15 people ahead of me. That made me furious. Then, when he locked the door at 3pm, one person came through and he gave them another number that was ahead of other people. I get it he was trying to be nice, but wow, I was furious. Anyway, when my number was called, I think I was only there a total of 45 minutes, the process was super quick, painless and I had a very nice gentleman. OMG!! I dont know whether to laugh or cry!! I really cannot believe that my 600th review is going to be for the Social Security Office in Orlando! i generally try to go to special places when I know I'm getting close to a century but I never imagined this! Oh well, it could be worse, I guess? I mean this could have been my 1000th review rather than just my 600th, so onwards and upwards! Anyway this Office is the ONLY physical location to go to in Central Florida if you need Card Services - we were standing in line behind a couple who drove in from Ocala! The security guard outside runs a tight ship and when I got there around 11am on a Friday, we waited for around 30 mins outside the Suite 201 door (make sure you go to the right one- Someone behind me stood in line for 30 mins too and then found out they had to go to the other office - Suite 200). So anyway, you have to wait outside if there is no room to sit inside - for folks who just seem to walk thru the doors, the security guard sends them back to wait if there is an outside line. You pick English or Spanish and the day I was there, the English line was moving way quicker than the Spanish one, so while in two hours I was on my way, folks that were in line with me, and picked Spanish, were still waiting. My recommendation however is to make sure that you bring a good book to read or catch up on your Yelp reviews and the time will fly by! Bonus star as the Loo was really nice and clean - there are two stalls too and it is wheelchair friendly. Also a water fountain x2 - one sized for adults and the other is kid friendly. Why anyone comes to an office like this and expects in-and-out service always baffles me. We wait an hour for a doctor, countless hours at an emergency room, and up to an hour for a decent restaurant. Heck, we even wait an hour for a 30 second ride at a theme park. The difference here is you take a number, and they call numbers. At least you can see how fast or slow the process is moving. My biggest complaint is in how long they wait for people that aren't there. It's a 10 second walk to the window. If you call a number and nobody comes in a minute, they left. Call the next number please. I found the guards to be helpful in keeping things orderly, despite the constant complaining by people who wouldn't be here if they didn't lose their card in the first place. Nice, new clean building. Plenty of parking, and nice enough gov employees. All they need here is a hot dog cart outside or a food truck. read more
