The USPS branch in DTO is conveniently located. It has such a classic style to its interior paying homage to its historic Italian roots. With a little bit of research, I learned that this branch is "a historic landmark designed by Louis Simon in a Northern Italian Palazzo Revival style." It opened in the early 1940s, and its dawns GRAND features, like high ceilings, marble flooring, ornate bronze doors, bronze lock boxes, and many other unique features that brings it its character. It serves as both a post office and a hub for the Catholic Diocese. As it relates to me, it is walkable from my job - so on days when the weather is nice, I opted to walk. When I don't walk, I drive and they have a limited amount of parking but there is parking available on the street and surrounding areas. The wait is usually not too bad - unless you are going during peak hours. The staff is nice and helpful. They usually have everything I am looking for with the exception of some speciality box sizes - which can simply be secured via their website. The price is the price! We already know how hard our US postal workers have to work, so I patron the postal office as much as I possibly can. read more

What a fantastic post office! When you walk in you feel like you're being transported back in time. The old-time P.O. Boxes are really neat, & there are artifacts around showing the building's history. It's such a beautiful location, I would recommend checking it out for the aesthetics alone! But the reason for 5 stars is their service. Our family had early morning appointments for passports. There were 2 employees working and a short line of customers when we arrived a few minutes early. Shortly after arriving, and only a few minutes after our appointment time, Michelle called us over. Our appointments included photos, so after completing them Michelle walked each one of us through the entire process in a professional and friendly manner, explaining the very thorough process along the way. She could not have made the experience any more pleasant! We completed our 4 appointments in the time stated (1 hour), we were given instructions for the next steps, & we were on our way. Large & convenient location in the heart of Downtown. I have visited this location a few times previously - always around noon or so. There has never been a large line (more than 5 people). My visits are always quick and done fast. The staff has always been fairly friendly - more than what I usually expect. The building is actually so very cool. Architecture, old style mailboxes and all. It's so fun! They have all the packing supplies that you may need. I have been in post offices that have cards before - to my knowledge this is not one of them. They have priority mail boxes & regular boxes & packing supplies for purchase. This is the classic restored post office in downtown Orlando. When you walk into this post office, it's like walking back in time. They have the old-style mailboxes, a lot of items on display from years gone by. This place is almost a museum. Now when you walk up to the clerks, you are in the 21st-century. The counter and all of the equipment they are using is up-to-date. And in all my years of visiting post offices in New York, North Carolina and now Florida, I must say that the downtown location here in Orlando reigns supreme. First, the building itself is gorgeous. It's a grandiose building with extremely high ceilings and marble flooring. There's a neat plaque outside too for your reading pleasure--I can't remember off the top of my head what it reads, but it remarks on the importance of mail and it's place in our lives. Secondly, the staff there has never let me down. They are cheery and will almost always crack a joke--no matter which employee you are working with. It's that reason alone I make the walk here despite other more convenient offices; because it can be quite common for governmental employees to be less than friendly when they are serving you. I tried going to the courthouse to get my passport yesterday, but the power was out. The security guard suggested this post office on Jefferson. Best advice ever. The guys there were so patient and helpful. I was in and out in 15 minutes. They helped me with my paperwork including a form I didn't realize I needed. The most stress free experience I could have received. I'm so thankful. I'd advise anyone looking to do their passport application to head here instead of the courthouse. An overzealous employee decided what mail I could receive in my mailbox. Which is actually ironic. I was informed because my mother's name wasn't on my mailbox her mail was returned...BUT the mail with her name and my name I can receive, along with Mr. Pho's, whoever he is, but who's mail landed in my mailbox....The best part is I called requesting to speak with the supervisor. I was informed he usually gets in around 9:30. I guess he never made it because I have yet to receive a call...To say I'm absolutely disgusted is an understatement. Fast. Efficient. Reliable. Three words to describe my experience every month when I walk over to the Post Office from my downtown office. I will keep coming back to this location more for the service that the team at the Post Office hands out. They want to make everything you came to do at the post office happen, and they have a perfect answer for anything you ask them. I've only utilized the building for package pick-up services, nothing else. All of the staff that I have encountered here have been very nice and helpful. The building is goooorgeous, inside and out, so I never mind having to visit. Parking is convenient, with a small lot located right next to the entrance. The only thing that annoys me is the strange walkways, which don't offer a direct path to the main stairs to the building. Unfortunately this post office is at a hub of all the public transportation. I only come here for convenience as my local post office in College Park isn't nearest to a bus. The staff here is incredibly rude. They are rude even when making a purchase outside of the service - just buying stamps for collecting purposes is a chore. I would love to say they are rude to patrons because they are inundated with homeless people and lawyers but there really is no excuse. If we pay for their service we should be allowed to complain when they refuse to give it. Our complaints should be heard and they should be reprimanded. I shouldn't have to see the same disgusted face for two decades. At the end of the day my tax paying dollar feeds them so they can say whatever they want to me and put their aggression out on my greeting card. It's really unacceptable. read more

RUDE. Got in line before they closed at 5, waited in the long line, and then they close the gate that separates the line and the postal workers when it turns 5pm. Odd leaving a review for a post office, but I felt compelled. The building, as others have pointed out, is a classic post office, that's been restored. Retro style mailboxes with a handful of old style photos from years past. Each and every time I've been here the mail people have been extremely friendly and extremely helpful. Maybe I've gotten lucky, because I've seen some of the other Yelpers reviews and it seems as though they've gotten the opposite. When you get closer to the counter they have the normal selection of packaging items and bubblewrap you'd see at any US post office, but this location is very spacious. There is street parking (metered) which is nice, but limited. Being in downtown Orlando, there is the downside of a handful of people who appear to be homeless looking for money. It doesn't bother me, but may be a turnoff to some people. read more

What a gorgeous building! I don't normally enjoy going to the post office but heading to this historic building downtown is almost a pleasure. Its connected to the diocese of Orlando. I had no idea what I was in for when I walked in but the marble entry way and high ceilings were beautiful and ornate carvings adorn the walls. This is really what all post offices should look like instead of the sterile enviornments most are. The tall ceilings give you a roomy feel and waiting in line with such pretty surroundings is even bearable. read more

I have been to this post office location over 20 times and never had a problem. I stop by the post office to mail paperwork to San Diego, CA. My job sends me a large bendable Tyvek envelope to send my information back. But the representative suggested the flat rate envelope because it was cheaper. So I had been using them to mail my paperwork. My job informed me that they have problems with the flat rate envelopes being damaged. They get many of them empty without the inside contents. So I went to this post office in May and was about to mail my paperwork in the bendable Tyvek envelope my job sent me. But your representative suggested the flat rate again. I told him about the envelopes being damage and my job not receiving the information inside. He suggested that he would tape the flat rate envelope for me. This has not been a problem and he (black male) had done this about 4 times. Today, (July 28th, 2014 at 3:35pm) I came into the same location and the representative (older white male) was ok until I asked him to tape the envelope. He suggested I was lying about the envelopes ripping. He even picked up a flat rate envelope closed it and said, now try and open it. I showed him how easy it was and ripped the envelope opened. I stated that my job said they receive the envelope damaged without the contents and I have no reason to lie. He wouldn't tape the envelope and stated I could tape it myself. I used two long piece of clear tape on the sides. Then he stated if I waste his tape, next time he would charge me. I went over to the other representative (black male) and asked have you tape my envelopes in the past. He stated yes and I said can you please tell your coworker this. Sorry I didn't get the names of the two gentlemen. But this was very unprofessional. I always come into this location between 3-4pm. There is no reason to be treated like this.
