In 1885 Dunn and Bradstreet listed Sherman as the financial center of Texas Sherman's oldest industry Washington Iron works, established in 1876 is still operating today . Just never checked them back in. I had to go look on the shelves and show them before they'd take them off my account. Librarians seem irritated when you ask for help, and make sure you know that they're being inconvenienced when you ask them a question. Witnessed an elderly woman trying to check out books at the help desk, and the librarian directed her to the machine. I asked if they had a book request program, and they directed me to an ancient lock box. They said they "would take my request into consideration". Multiple years later and never heard anything. I don't think the box was ever opened. A woman with a child tried to exit and had accidentally skipped checking out a book. The alarms went off and a male librarian chased her out of the building. He acted like he was SWAT. Pretty funny to see him nearly knock his chair over, but felt bad for the woman. The whole vibe is negative and awkward. Glad I have another option with Denison.

But neighbors recommended going to Sherman for the licenses because we could get appointments much sooner there. That turned out to be correct, one month wait at Sherman vs. 3-4 months in McKinney. We drove up last Thursday morning for our 11:20 appointments. Everything went extremely smoothly. The lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful, patiently helping us through all the required paperwork. We had done our homework beforehand and had everything we needed. We then had a short wait until Robert called us to his desk. He was delightful, leading us through the process quickly and efficiently while keeping a friendly conversation going. In addition to giving us useful information about driving and navigating the roads of Texas, he also gave us great tips to help us adjust to life in Texas. Even provided his impressions of different restaurants and markets in the area. We appreciated his willingness to share his knowledge with us. The hour we spent in the office flew by and was probably the best government office visit either of us had ever experienced. We highly recommend that when you need to visit a DPS office, take your business up to Sherman office.

It was an African American guy. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating was due to the lack of holiday decor and the cases that usually have different types of stamps to purchase were empty. Whomever is responsible for the location and making the atmosphere pleasant has failed. The atmosphere is not only for customers but for employees also.

She called the post office at 4:15 to inquire about her mail and got a recording that they were closed? But hours say they're open until 5pm. 1. get out of your vehicle and deliver the mail 2. don't try to give away other people's mail 3. someone so angry should not work in a moving vehicle 4. why is your phone off 45 minutes before you close? 5. I'm glad I don't work at the post office
