Before you go to Sankofa Boutique, take the time to look up a little bit about its story in local news articles. It is a rare feel-good narrative about a small independent business started, owned, and operated by a Black woman as a labor of love for both her own interests and the community around her. Sankofa Boutique features one of the best selections of crystals and other semiprecious gemstones in the Seattle area. All are painstakingly labeled with names and information, and the shopkeeper can often offer helpful thoughts on each. Prices are very fair value for what you get, especially in such an expensive neighborhood. The selection of lovely jewelry, interesting trinkets, candles, incense, hand-selected basic witchcraft/magic kits, and other New Age miscellanea is also outstanding. Books and Tarot/oracle decks are not Sankofa's niche (unsurprisingly considering how many other places in the area cover it instead), but the small selection there still offers some good options. This store also specializes in African imports (hence the name "Sankofa," often used for businesses and organizations built around African heritage, from a word in the Ghanaian Twi language about returning to the past to retrieve ancestral wisdom), and I recently purchased a beautiful Kenyan Maasai beaded leather cuff here. Not only is it physically comfortable, but to my spiritual senses it is a solid source of good energy. Cherika, the proprietor, has clearly painstakingly cultivated an atmosphere of cozy serenity and emotional warmth tucked away here in this little shop. She is also unfailingly kind and generous of spirit with patrons; she treats newcomers and passersby cordially and maintains great relationships with regular customers and community figures. Sankofa Boutique is an excellent choice for spending a little time browsing the small wonders of a cozy and kind corner of Capitol Hill, especially if you want to lighten your coinpurse in exchange for some exciting new treasures.

TLDR: Erin at Seattle Diamonds was able to create a ring that NO OTHER JEWELER COULD, and she did it within my budget! Here is the full story of my ring buying journey and how Erin at Seattle Diamonds came through where no other retailer could. I always do my homework when making a big purchase, so I started off shopping around and hitting up all the major chain retailers like Shane Co. and Jared's, etc. My future fiancé an I picked out a 3 stone style that we absolutely loved. However, I noticed a troubling trend where the larger, center stone often looked shadowed and darker than the side stones. This really bothered me, however, I continued to be told that this was just how this style of rings would work. I then took my search online to Whiteflash, thinking that they could better help me match the diamonds and that would solve the problem. However, I was ALSO told by them that this was just the nature of these three stone settings, and I would just have to settle for the center stone looking shadowed if I went with this setting. My future fiancé and I talked it over and decided that we would go with a solitaire setting instead. However, this took us back to square one with ring and setting styles. This is what brought us to Seattle Diamonds and how we met Erin. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear that this wasn't a normal retail space, however, it was a beautiful, high-end office and Erin immediately set our mind at ease. She was friendly and easy to talk to and really made us feel welcomed. She showed us many settings and picked out a beautiful solitaire setting. However, over the course of chatting with her, we mentioned the three stone setting that we loved and the problem we had with the center stone being shadowed. Erin was shocked that we'd had such problems as she'd never heard of this problem before. I couldn't stop thinking about her reaction, even after we left and eventually emailed her further about it. I decided to try one more time to see if I could make this ring style work. Erin was AMAZING! She found a beautiful setting that was within our budget. She brought in loose diamonds to try until we found ones that matched and didn't create that "shadowed" look. I was blown away. After that, I paid a deposit on the rings, and then waited. Erin emailed me a 3D rendering proof for my approval, which I gave because they looked amazing. Then it was time to wait. These rings aren't just cookie-cutter "I have a empty band and setting on hand and we just pop the diamonds in and go". They are quality made to order and take some time. As they say with the "unattainable triangle": You have quality, price, and speed. You get two out of the three-but never all three. I picked the rings up about three weeks after approving the proofs and they were absolutely stunning. I couldn't be happier and on top of that, I got to surprise my (now) fiancé with the ring of dreams rather than the solitaire setting we were settling for. My experience with Erin at Seattle Diamonds was amazing and I couldn't be happier. She made the impossible happen and did it all within my budget! Thank you Erin for such an amazing experience. I told him I had 4 Nixon watches that needed the battery replaced and also re-pressurized, as I take all my nixons with me when wakeboarding and swimming. He told me not a problem, and quoted me $15 per battery replacement. He got all 4 watches done in less than 25 minutes. Super pleasant guy, clean store, and so I highly recommend!
