I have been going to this shop for years. I live out of town so I'm not here frequently. I appreciate their Tibetian themed merchandise, and the Buddhist atmosphere, in their store. My friends have enjoyed some of the merchandise I have brought home. Also, I feel less stressed after visting this place. This man is very special, love his shop, inventory, and philosophy. I recentĺy contacted him from Utah when I moved from Seattle. I called about an Egyptian Musk diffusion oil, unlike any other. He said his source had passed away. He was sorry to disappoint me, and so kind. Gotta love this man... his purpose is to share and service. Ahhh. I hate to give a rating like this to a shop that's been around for so long, but I feel I have to. The prices for some of the items are very expensive, anywhere from 2x to 5x of what you can find online. You can find almost exact items from this store elsewhere. The last time I was there, the owner was pushing me to buy things and it felt very sales-y. I get that running a store especially through/after a pandemic can be difficult, but I feel that the good energy wasn't there. read more

Ridgzin, the owner, is my new good friend! I walked in here on a whim and he has helped me so much in a short amount of time. He is a great person to talk to about Buddhism and doing specific prayers for healing. He has a wonderful selection of items of all kinds and can recommend the right products for you. Rigdzin and his shop are such a wonderful part of the neighborhood. My husband purchased a Tibetan singing bowl here for Christmas to add to my meditation space. My little treasure house. Half of my tibetan collection of things is from here. My man even knows that he can't go wrong shopping here for me. From music for massage, to books, to prayer flags, to incense and herb sticks, to hangings to posters.... Plus the owner is very kind & knowledgable. He even gave me a string that was blessed by His Holiness because I told him I loved the Dalai Lama. Really quaint, but so many things are crammed into this place and I could spend hours in there. A great selection of Tibetan & subcontinental imports including prayer flags, incense, statuary, wall hangings & fabric arts, clothing, hand-carved boxes, books, candles, jewelry &c. They stock a very good selection of books dealing with Buddhist, historical, and spiritual subjects. They also stock Buddhas of all shapes and sizes (well, no larger than 1' tall anyway), and in a variety of materials. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable about their stock, and always happy to accommodate special orders. As Alex V. pointed out in a previous review "you'll leave in a better mood." Walking down Greenwood near 85th, my nasal passages were suddenly assaulted by the scent of incense that was so heavenly, I had to follow my nose to this little gem of a store. Handmade gifts from Tibet, religious icons, books, cards, etc, etc kept my interest for a good 30 minutes (and that's a lot!). The blank page journal I bought had hand-pressed paper that was too pretty to write on and it took me a while to put a mark on that paper. The owner/manager was very nice and very helpful in answering my questions and I will return for some of the unusual gift items I saw there. read more

I am so glad that Pema Kharpo and Rigdzin are here. He is a kind soul. After I bought some lovely-smelling incense and a beautiful holder, I pushed my sleeping baby in the stroller, crossing 85th. I had completely forgotten the items I just bought! Rigdzin had run all the way, even crossing the street, to bring them to me. Thank you--I greatly appreciate it! Six months after I gave a dear friend a fertility charm that I bought at this shop, she had become pregnant with twins. Science might have been involved, but it seems that spirituality helped, too. read more

One of my hobbies is to visit stores and restaurants with four to five star Yelp ratings. That's what brought me to Pema Kharpo. One of the downsides of this shop (for me) is the concentrated presence of incense. Some incense and perfumes irritate my lungs and nose. The incense is heavily saturated in this store. I browsed the shop for 5-10 minutes before leaving. The scent aside, I found the shop to be clean, attractive, and cozy. The price range seems to coincide with similar shops. The store caters to a specific audience. Meaning, you won't find much variety in the items available for sell. However, if your focus is Tibetan style meditation, then you need to visit this store. read more

I had no idea there was a store like this in Seattle. It is a beautiful store, welcoming and cheery as soon as you walk in. They carry handmade treasures by true, talented artisans, books, jewelry, etc. I highly suggest checking it out for gifts! The other fantastic thing about this place is the owner. This is a wonderful little store selling beautiful handcrafted items connected with Tibet and with Tibetan Buddhism. The owner is a warm and kind-hearted person who is very knowledgeable and friendly, always happy to explain the meaning and history behind the items in the store. He works two jobs and sometimes has to step away from the store during regular business hours so it's best to give him a call to make sure he's there before making a special trip. read more

We had to give ourselves a limit of money to spend because there was so much we wanted. It is one of our favorite stores and a great place to buy someone a personal gift. Pema Kharmpo is a very special little treasure chest right in the heart of Greenwood. The owner, Rigdzin, is incredibly friendly. His products often come straight from Nepal, India, or Tibet. The price is sometimes a little high, but it is usually worth it (great materials, handmade items, supporting a local business). I love to come here for holiday presents. I am definitely a knick-knack collector, and there are plenty of those here! He carries a small selection of books, religious items (statues, malas, thangkas), incense, and more. This is one of my favorite boutiques EVER! Rigdzin is an amazing person and I always enjoy chatting with him whenever I visit the store. He's so funny & has a really, really good memory!! Rigdzin has a wealth of knowledge about Tibetan culture and creates beautiful calligraphy which is sold in the boutique as well. They have a variety of fair traded products which I have purchased as gifts for family and friends AND the boutique is associated with a foundation to help a village in Tibet--how super awesome is that!! Last year my fiance had a massive cardiac arrest & was on life support in an induced coma. The Drs told us his chance for survival was very very small. I was told if he did survive his brain would likely not function. His daughter visited Pema Kharpo and informed Rigdzin of her fathers state. Rigdzin, out of the goodness of his heart, looked up his birth data and told her that her father was a strong man and would survive. He recited some mantras and gave her a bracelet to wear and gave her one to give me to wear and provided an amulet to put on her father's chest. I was at the hospital and received a call from her after her visit with Rigdzin, she was happy and hopeful. I was to say the least very skeptical. When she got back to the hospital she asked the nurse to place the amulet onto her fathers chest. The nurse was very kind and taped it to his chest. We then went to dinner while his brother stayed at the bed side. While we were out I received a phone call; my fiance had opened his eyes and he seemed aware! We came back to the hospital and sure enough he opened his eyes and there seemed to be recognition, even though he was still on full life support. Everyone was crying tears of joy including the medical staff. At that point his heart started to get stronger on its own and he was - 8 days later - taken off life support. His nickname among the medical team was "miracle man". Every single person from cardiologist to neurologist to family and friends said "it's a miracle". Life is pretty normal for us now and he is doing well. I believe Rigdzin had a big part in this! read more

this is a retrospect as well since i visited this lovely place back in December 2010 and i really wanted to remember this place. i bought my purse here and i love my purse with a passion and am complimented on it all the time. it's my only purse. the incense is awesome too. my friend bought me a beautiful piece (a good luck hanging thing, mandala perhaps?) that is in my car and brings me peace of mind. read more
