Really good pulled pork with Blueberry Chipotle BBQ sauce. Fried pickles are thin like potato chips and just lightly fried, amazing. The collard greens aren't over seasoned or vinegary like many around here are, these were perfect. They also make a great Arnold Palmer! My dad enjoyed his Reuben pressed sandwich and tots. LOVE SoDoSoPa! Fireball and amazing barbeque, what's not to love? This restaurant has a great atmosphere, a friendly staff, awesome wine list and delicious food. I love their southern spin on rangoons and their salmon plate! My office recently had their holiday party in their upstairs loft area and we all had a fantastic time! If I could have decided to go somewhere else I would. It took almost 45 minutes before the food was even put in the computer system. Was told that the meat for the ribeye philly sandwich is cooked the day before. The MAC and cheese is said home made MAC and cheese. All it was -was a bowl of queso with noodles on top. I had to get the manager to bring me a cup of mayo after having asked for it from the waitress who did not return it to the table after being asked. The manager began to argue with me regarding the food and amount of time that we were in the restaurant prior to the food arriving. The plus side is that the restaurant is clean and very clean restrooms. read more

We were in town for a wedding and this came highly recommended. It's located in an older building downtown but parking was not a problem. It's not a huge place so it will fill quickly. The food was excellent. Their focus is on the meats that they smoke although the menu had other options. I had a smoked chicken salad wrap that focused on the chicken. Nice chunks with interesting seasonings. The side I chose was the Mac and cheese. It was the real deal oozing with a cheese sauce. My husband got a Philly cheesesteak with real meat - not the frozen pieces. Save room for dessert. The crime brûlée's was really good but the homemade banana pudding was exceptional. The prices were lower than you would expect considering the quality of the food. Skip the chains in the area and go downtown for a gem. read more

We researched our lunch destination on yelp. Not sure what everyone else was eating out food was just ok . Hog cakes 5/10 and ribs seemed to be day old. Mac and cheese was very good. Cuban not your usual . Pickles more like cucumbers and cheese was white American. read more

While in Smithfield , we found this restaurant on Yelp. Since we are from NY, it was great to find that our waitress is a former New Yorker. She was very sweet and funny. We ordered the dish for two which had a sample of brisket, ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. It was a little fatty, but good! I had the collard greens as a side, and my husband had the mac and cheese. Both were very good. We shared the Creme Brûlée for dessert, and that was good. My favorite part of the meal, though was the Smoked Salmon Bisque. Tonight I witnessed the most disgusting behavior from workers at this establishment. A black delivery driver told them he was there to pick up an order, he was asked what was on the order, and before he could respond, he was told "You should know what the f***ing order is". Talk about an attitude from the start! Number one that is beyond unprofessional and what gives you the right to talk to people that way. You shouldn't be there if your unhappy with your life at this moment. That is no excuse to be down right nasty like your better than someone. Of course her response was to call the police, (profiled much) and when they arrived, they said they got a call about a big disturbance but she was the only one yelling. Stop drinking at work lady!! She was talking about the delivery driver to another customer as well! Talk about business etiquette. She has none.. What makes this bad is the fact that we have spent our money in here numerous times. Won't get another penny from me! read more

This was such a great find!! The fried pickles were outstanding! The shrimp and grits were awesome. Our server, Jasmine took really nice care of us. I only gave 4 stars because one of our meals came out very fatty but Jasmine noticed without us saying anything about it and took it upon herself to let the manager know. He came over and apologized and happily took that meal from the bill. We were all impressed that Jasmine made notice of the food being off and addressed it without our prompting her. The salmon dip, collards and shrimp and grits are my personal favorites, although after many visits for lunch and dinner I haven't been unhappy with any of my menu selections. If you are looking for your typical burger or steak this isn't the place for you...their menu is full of flavor and unique combinations. The owners are often onsite and are warm and welcoming. Sodosopa continues to be the best place in Smithfield. Service is great and the food is always just right. Even better--if you want to order a meal not exactly on the menu, that's okay! Just found this little gem that is a worthwhile 20 minutes away! We loved it so much, we went twice this week! Awesome martini which is always a bonus! My husband fell in love with the Pork Porterhouse. My fave was the red beans (minus rice) side dish -- taste out of this world! The smoked wings available grilled are so good, we had them both times! First time going here. The service was great and the food came to us quickly. Fried dill pickles were great. Ribs with blueberry bbq sauce, I was a bit skeptical but they were awesome. Didn't care for the brisket. It was cooked well just didn't care for the smoke flavor, it was a bit strong for us. We will be back though. read more

Sodosopa's deep fried pickles are, by far, the best we've had in the South. The pickles are house made, light batter, a lot of flavor, and not greasy! This place is must try! The first question is, how did they get the name?? Sodosopa? It took a few tries before it rolled off the tongue. We were told the name is an abbreviation of South Downtown South Park, love it! We had the bbq rangoons! Delicious! Then we had 'The Beast' platter (don't judge)...a little bit of it all. Totally worth it. My favorite is the chicken, but it's all good comfort food.
