I wrote up a contract to buy a house, I had a possession date. I went and bought furniture from a variety of stores all around Alberta, including Sofaland. My family and I have been unable to return home to USA for 1.5 years and a few weeks out to possession date for our new house and we got word from the United States Immigration that our issue had been resolved and we could move back soon. I apologized to the Edmonton realtor, the seller, all the furniture stores I purchased from, and everyone, helpfully and reluctantly, allowed me to cancel and return for a full refund, except Sofaland. Over the past 8 or so years, we've purchased quite a bit of furniture from different places around Edmonton. I can say with great conviction that Sofa Land is the best place to shop for a sofa in Edmonton. They carry the Stylus brand, made in Canada, and carries a 20 year warranty. There's hundreds of different fabric options to customize your very own furniture. You can sign out fabric samples as well. They also have a vast array of theatre seating. When I was finally ready to purchase a couch, I visited this store about 6 times in one week, working with the Sales Associate to find the right colour, and right piece. In fact, I placed an order and overnight decided it wasn't the right decision. They had no problem letting me pick something else... likely because 12 hours had barely passed and it was the weekend, so the order wasn't actually placed. Our associate, Maria, was truly the best "salesperson" I've encountered. She's there to educate, make recommendations, and help us find what's right for us. Maria was very knowledgeable about all the products. Another plus is there is no pressure tactics, and no one following you around the store at Sofa Land. Highly recommend! read more

I am sorry to say, but we did not have a good experience with Sofaland. :( Basically they sold us something that wasn't what we ordered and we have had no results in getting the problem solved. We ordered two pieces with an ottoman...that was where the problem was. Also, their customer service was a joke. We bought our sofa in March, it was delivered in May with the issues, and it is now the end of July with the same results and no follow up. Marcel was our "used car salesman," but it was on us to do more due diligence. The sofa itself was high quality and well made. Essentially, we wanted a long enough chaise (like our old one) to fit our doggies. That was an important requirement and was made clear multiple times to Marcel during the purchase. He said all of their chaises were shorter and we were about to leave the store when he sold us on the idea of adding an ottoman. He said there were two sizes of ottomans...a short one and a taller one. They only had the short one in the showroom.. we should have asked them to get the taller one in before purchasing. Marcel said it would be about an inch wider, so it wouldn't completely line up, but that the height would match the couch and we could connect the two pieces with a locking mechanism. He PROMISED it would be level and it was no where near. There is a distinct step down of about 3 1/2 inches!?!!! When it was delivered, we complained. Marcel assured us they could fix the problem. He said because we got the extra firm cushions, that the specs of the ottoman were a bit off. Marcel arranged for the manufacturer to remake the ottoman to the right size, but warned us it might be off less than an inch because of the extra firm cushions. It was delivered last week and it is exactly the same!?!! We phoned and talked to their customer service, Kendra, and she said they would help us find a way to solve the problem. She said she would get back to me...it has been over a week with no response. We are beyond frustrated. We are working class and saved to buy a custom made couch to fit our needs. When you spend almost $5,000 you expect to get exactly what you ordered. We spent over two hours in the store the day we bought the couch, trying to think of everything to ask and confirm on details. We had to wrap our brains around the idea of buying an ottoman over one long piece from another store. We accepted it but on the condition it would LOOK like one long piece with the heights matching. THEN we had to accept that it would be off a bit and NOW we have to accept that it won't be fixed. We are so disappointed. If we can help even one other person out there with my review, then at least there is that. Be warned if you buy from Sofaland, do your due diligence and don't believe everything they say...get proof. Sofaland and Marcel don't seem to care...he got his sale. read more

We bought a floor model from sofa land about 3 1/2 years ago and they told us it was high quality leather it completely wore out with in a year.... we called and said that it's been a year and the leather is totally worn out. The company manager actually said " it's actually a year and three days". I told her that this is a lot of money to spend on something that is going to wear out in under a year and she said not for most of their costumers. We had a seat cushion stained from normal use and they denied coverage stating that the stain was caused by oils in our skin so it was not covered. A sofa set was the first furniture my husband and I purchased for our new home. Years earlier when shopping for our condo, we went to every store in the city and liked Sofa Land the best, but most orders are custom, and can take six weeks or longer to arrive. As this wasn't a problem this time around, Sofa Land was the only place we went. Almost everything in the store is customizable, with the ability to select fabric, cushion softness and cushion attachment options for many of the models in the store. I did some shopping ahead of time on their website, and was pleased to see a full range of all available models in the store. We made two visits to the store, and our shopping experience was very pleasant. The sales associate we worked with was easily available to answer questions, but also gave us plenty of space to take our time trying out different sofas. Once we picked a model, we were able to sign out fabric swatches to take home to see how they would look with our paint and lighting (for free!) for one week, and this was so helpful. Beware: if you are indecisive, there are seemingly infinite fabric options available. As a bonus, we got two free toss cushions in any fabric of our choice to go along with each sofa. Our couches arrived in about five weeks, and we were able to schedule delivery on a Saturday. Our delivery was easy and without incident, and our couches arrived as ordered and well protected during shipping. I won't go into a South Edmonton Common diatribe in this review. This place has all the trappings of a typical big box store, but it definitely isn't one. It might be because it mostly sells sofas, but this place is very homey. There's a great selection of sofas, but I guess that makes sense for a place called Sofa Land. One of the employees approached shortly after I walked in and she found the golden mean between pushiness and indifference. She was there to answer questions and to make suggestions (I have a teeny, tiny studio apartment so functionality was important for me). I can't speak for the other employees but Elaine was great. I'm not sure if I'll return, but that's because I've only got enough space for one sofa. The price wasn't cheap exactly, but offered a good range. There was stuff that was definitely too expensive, but there were also lots of good things on sale. read more

I stumbled upon Soda Land by accident while shopping in South Edmonton Common for a new sofa. We had a lovely sales women, unfortunately, I misplaced her card. I had just left the shark tank that is the Brick and was blown away by how calm and peaceful Sofa Land was. The sales lady put zero pressure on me but was there to answer questions and provide guidance as needed. I found the couch of my dreams, the model is the Carl. It has built in USB charging docks, soft close on arm rests and is like sitting on a cloud. It was the best purchase I've made. We left a deposit and paid for delivery that day. A month later, when we were ready to have our couch delivered we were contacted by the delivery company. Set up a date and time and eagerly awaited the arrival of Carl. The delivery drivers came early (after a phone call asking if that was ok) and had the couch in the house literally within 5 minutes. We paid the remaining balance and received an organized file with our receipt, warranty info ect. Every single person we dealt with was professional, and friendly. If you are looking for a custom sofa or chaise, this is the only place I would suggest. They made a wonderful over-sized chaise lounge for me a few years ago and the process and the product were both great. I must have visited 15 furniture stores during my hunt for the right piece and this was the only one that found a way to get me what I wanted for less than $1000. When I described what I wanted and the kind of material, the salesperson started researching what could be done. She let me bring home several material samples to test with my other furniture which was great. The chaise arrived about 6 weeks later - exactly as quoted. It is lovely, it has stood up to family life and the fabric still looks like new. I am glad I listened to the salesperson when she suggested my first choice was not the best for the kind of piece I wanted. I am buying a sofa soon, and this will be the first place I go. read more

I ordered 2 accents chairs 3 months ago and after receiving them I realized that the chairs are not identical and one of them had manufacturing defect!!! The legs size and shape was totally different. I called their customer service and took 3 weeks to replace the chair. A few months later I bough 2 round ottoman and when I took them home again their legs were not fixed and I had to return them to fix it!!! Went to 5 places looking for a good new sofa only to find really cheap manufacturing. One place on 99st would only offer a 30 day warranty on a $3500 sofa. I tried Sofaland as a last ditch effort, they had the nicest furniture, their prices were cheaper and they offer extensive warranties on their products! I even got a hand written thank you for shopping with us letter a few weeks after my purchase. This place should be everyone's first stop, the other shops just aren't worth it. read more

We paid $5000 for the Benjamin couch and loveseat... we paid extra to upgrade the leather to higher grade.. less than a year later the cushions and sagging and misshapen.. very unhappy with this set, must be cheap foam used or something. I'll never shop there again. read more

I bought a sectional for $2400.00 around five years ago. It is currently a piece of junk. The fake leather finish has pealed off and the reclining mechanism on the chairs is bent and non functional. After one year the support under one of the sections broke in half and I had to tear the whole thing apart to repair it. Hello, It is a fairly long review but you might want to finish reading it if you want to get the best customer service when buying furniture in Edmonton. I promised. I've bought most of my 3 bedroom sets and 1 dining set at Konto. I was worried I had to put things together but they ensure me that they will do everything. My bedroom set had to be order and delivered at a later date as it is not readily available. The timing was about the same time as what the sales person had told me. I appreciate this as I don't like to be promised an appropriate delivery date and then it turns out it's 2 months late. That was Konto. This time I'm on a mission to buy a sofa. My budget was under $2000. I looked around and shopped at Sofaland as well as United Furniture, The Brick, Leon's & The Big Comfy Couch. I ordered this L shape couch at Comfy Couch. It wasn't available in their warehouse so I had to order it. The sales person said it will take 4-6 wks. I agreed to this. I paid in full when I ordered my couch. As the date for delivery approaches, I dont hear anything from them. I called at the 8 wk mark (I gave them extra time) and their answer to me was "it's in their warehouse in Edmonton and should be delivered anytime" I asked how long? She said 1 wk. 1 wk later I called again and guess what??? Surprise couch is still not available. She still said the same thing and my answer to her was "that was what you said last week and I remember your voice. I want my money back". She then redirected me to get my refund. Long story short it took me literally 3 weeks to get my refund. Even when I offer to come into their store and get my refund. I almost had to file a claim with my visa. They processed the refund and asked me to wait 1 week. They never put the request for refund until I called the second time. Now after almost 3 months and still no couch. I was frustrated then I remembered hey didn't I have a great experience at Konto? And they are in the same family as Sofaland. Let's go there. Although I bought over my budget, I'm very please with the quality of the sofas. They delivered on time. After about 3-4 weeks i noticed that there was a defective zipper on the cushion. I zipped it back up and see if it holds. It didn't.  When I zipped it up it's fine but as soon as you sit, the zipper will split apart. So I called Sofaland and the manager offered me 2 options. 1) she will give me a 20% discount if I keep the couch (which is about $400). 2) she will exchange it. I opt for option 2 because to be honest I'm slightly OCD and can't handle to sit on the couch knowing the zipper is defective. She laughed at my answer and said for sure she can make that exchange happened. She told me it will be available some time mid December. I said thank you and today voila...my couch has been exchanged! When I called last week she said it's in the warehouse and will be delivered some time next week. She didn't give me empty promise because it was delivered on time just like she said. I am very happy and please with the quality as well as the service provided by Konto and Sofaland. From now on, I will never buy anywhere else for furniture but these 2 places. Trust me, save yourself the headaches and frustrations and go to them for your furniture needs. Once they have your money, you are no longer important. They sell you floor models, disguised as 'factory ordered' - they don't even clean the dust off nor take off the price tag! The delivery was mixed up - they gave me the wrong items. The items taken off the floor models had some damage - scratches and dents, etc. I don't mind floor models but be truthful that's what you are selling me and give me a discount. Don't sell it as factory ordered or brand new. The sofa I ordered has a manufacturing flaw in the material but I don't even want to deal with them any longer. I'll just make sure I point it out to everyone who comes over and warn them about this place. As for the other items that were officially factory ordered, meh. For the price I paid, I could have gone to the Brick and gotten the same quality and a hell of a lot sooner. I wasn't a small order - I had an $8000 order. A complete living room, including lamps and decorative items. For the factory ordered items be prepared to wait longer than they tell you. More lies I was sold. I was told 6-8 weeks when in fact it was 10-12. I was belittled when I complained about this, saying I signed the timeline on the invoice, when in fact I didn't. The items missed my moving truck and I had to pay an additional $1000 shipping to my new home. The sales person KNEW I needed those items by the moving date, yet continued to tell me the items would indeed be ready by my moving date. They weren't. Would I go back? Will never purchase another product from this store ( st.albert trail) in Edmonton. Will not recommend this store to anyone. We spent $ 3878.70 for a dining room set. In less than a year the finish on the table was peeling, and scratched with the slightest thing touching it ( including a dish sliding or being moved) the quality is extremely poor. I specifically asked the sales person for the best quality as we have children and we wanted something durable that would last our family for years. When I contact the store to discuss ( thinking it was a product defect) they told me it was normal wear and tear and nothing was covered and they would give me a number for someone to fix it at our expense. When I explained that you can't even move a dish on the table without the finish coming off , I was told they don't know what goes on in my home and I should protect/cover the table. I asked why the sales person wouldn't have explained the sensitivity of the finish, I was told the sales people don't usually know those details. ( then how can they sell me something I specifically asked for when they don't even know the details about the products ) The two people that I spoke to were very rude and not helpful at all. We initially put a deposit for a sofa that had motorized reclining, massage and heat with planned delivery the following weekend. It's been over a decade since we purchased a leather sofa, so I read online about the bonded leather that made up this sofa. My biggest concern was the longevity of the product so my wife and I decided to upgrade to genuine leather. My wife called asking for our sales lady Joanne who was really nice to deal with however the woman who answered the phone automatically became defensive saying that they don't sell garbage and we could never get a genuine leather couch at the price of the couch we put a deposit on. She also made it clear that they sell many of these sofas with no issues and abruptly passed the phone to the manager who was indifferent during the conversation to my wife. When we went to the store later that day, I explained to him that we never questioned the quality of their product, nor was price was an issue as we would have easily paid more for genuine leather & with the way my wife was spoken to, we asked for a refund. The manager offered free delivery if we considered their other products, then he offered 15% off however we already spoke to another salesman at a competitor based on a referral from a colleague. The manager insisted I should try to forgive them and readily admitted he was starting an argument to show how his family owned business does not treat people in this manner. I agreed to reconsider his company in the future for home theater chairs that we sat in and liked....however based on his admittance of starting an "argument" we really will not consider going back. IMO, the manager should have said that he would speak with the saleswoman who was rude to my wife on the phone instead rather than start an argument with a potential customer. read more
