A true craftsman. Luis recovered my sofa, we had to work over the phone and with pictures. as I was unable to go into the store. Luis was incredibly patient and helpful. He helped my pick a fabric to meet my needs and even called me back when he found a better deal on a fabric he thought I'd like even better. He picked up the sofa, fixed all the cushions and recovered the sofa and made zippered covers for all the cushions. He even added some extras, which I had meant to ask for but forgot- like arm covers and some throw pillow covers. He also brought two options for the back cushions so I could test what I liked best. I couldn't be happier with the results, and it was a pleasure to work with someone that values high quality workmanship!!! I LOVE my sofa more than when it was brand new. In 1987, two friends convinced me to spend almost $2000 on a sofa and $1400 on the matching love seat. Their rationale was that it makes sense to spend $$$ on quality-made pieces of classic design. Well ... they were right. Fast-forward almost 23 years. Time for a change. But ... I still love the style of my furniture. Just not the thread-worn fabric. Had 20 year old Baker love-seat, wing-back, and chair whose coverings were in pretty bad shape after raising 2 kids and a few dogs. Looked at new, but replacement cost were beyond my current budget and did not want lesser quality. Was not sure about reupholstering because the chair and love-seat have ornate tufting. First of all let me start by saying Luis does not need this review at all. He has a long waiting list of customers. If you want something done here - let him know early. We had a very old Multy Sofa from Ligne Roset. It is 20 years old but besides the cover it was immaculate. We had a new cover done in Germany as that was much cheaper than doing it here in the US and then we called Luis. It was a project he had never done before but he did a fabulous job. He came by the house and checked out the sofa and gave us a fair quote. The "other" sofa upholster up the road was going to charge double and there is no way they could have done it any better than Luis. Luis needs a bigger space. He could hire a few people and make a real name for himself but I think he is content in keeping things small and working for himself and his family. Luis re-upholstered 6 dining room chairs for me. These chairs had great sentimental value. They were my mother's. They were part of a dining room table set over 50 years old. I am extremely pleased with the final product, and especially satisfied with Luis. He was patient, explained the process well, worked with me to make changes. The experience was very positive. He is very creative at finding solutions to problems. The seat did not sit completely flat on the chair. He came up with a way to have it fit snugly to the chair bottom by screwing the chair bottom in at a different place. Makes the chair look finished and beautiful. He also advised added piping which gave a very finished look. I also had him make pillow backs using the fabric of the seats. The result was beautiful. They are a perfect addition to the chairs. I am now having Luis do re-upholstering of my folding chairs. I would use him for any future projects. I was especially impressed with his honesty. I had initially looked at other upholstery places. I decided on using Luis based on his Yelp reviews. He had more reviews than other stores, and they were positive and recent. I am so happy with my choice in using Sofa Savers. Unfortunately Luis is really rude. I brought my chair to him to speak to him for 3 minutes and get questions answered but I was told that he was at the bank and to come back in 40 minutes. I came back in 40 minutesand he was eating his lunch. He asked me to give him a few minutes instead of simply taking 3 minutes to answer my question. So I said sure. I waited and then finally I went back in and he was just sitting there. He said he needed five more minutes. In the end he quoted a price that was an over charge. I went to Sofa Savers in hopes that they could repair a leather tufted seat cushion that had a tear at the seam and would not break the bank. The owner took a look at it and said he would be able to fix it and quoted a great price. After a week the cushion was ready and looked like the tear never existed.
