RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Otherwise, take out a needle and thread. It'll be faster. I needed a pair of slacks altered for a wedding. She charged $50. Absurd. Told me to pick them up betw 2-5p saturday. Went there after 2p and then asked me to come back in Tuesday . When clearly the receipt said Saturday pick up. They had the pants 11 days. I was uncomfortable about leaving the pants and coming back , unsure if it would ultimately end up being Tuesday. When I told the owner, I'd like the pants today she said "what do you think I'm gonna wear them are they diamonds am I gonna keep them? We're very busy." Hey, if you were busy you should have been honest. She started the work right away and I waited. It took 30 mins. When the pants were done the owner wouldn't look at me. But had no problem taking the money. Sofi was rude, condescending and quite obnoxious. I WILL NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. read more

I had two rather expensive dresses by Theory (retail around $500) and Rebecca Taylor (about $325) that needed alterations. I searched extensively looking for a good seamstress in the Tenafly, Bergen County area and even considered bringing the dresses into NYC. I tried Sofi's because she sounded experienced, reasonable, and conveniently located vs. going into NYC. She did a beautiful job on taking in a dress in the bustline. The dress also has lining and she charged $25. My local dry cleaner would not even attempt to do this alteration because it was too delicate. Sofi is very experienced and knows what she is doing. The other dress needed to be taken in at the shoulder seam on top and she charged $20. That was a pretty simple alteration. All in all very pleased with her work and pricing. Quality far exceeds what you would get at a local dry cleaner. I will have to bring some pants that were altered at my local dry cleaner to Sofi to be redone. read more

We tried her out (I was already a fan of one of her other businesses), and she did good work, precisely what we asked for (alas, our previous tailor was not as careful). Sofi did a simply amazing job adding sleeves and a bodice to my daughter's dress for my son's wedding. She did a great job adding sleeves to my dress, too, which wasn't as challenging. She designed a lovely and innovative way to make the strapless gown into a gorgeous creation with elbow-length sleeves. She has also taken in some work-place dresses, after I lost weight. She's also very reasonably priced, and extremely pleasant. read more

I went to Sofi's for a bridesmaid dress alteration and was encouraged by good reviews. I was a little less pleased with my experience and thought I'd share. When I went to drop off the dress and have her pin it to where it needed to be altered, sofi was pleasant and knows what she's doing. I did notice the messiness of the store, there is stuff everywhere! Also, a small dog not leashed wandering around the store. I set a date and time with her to pick up the dress. When I came back, I handed her my copy of the receipt and she asked what color the dress was while searching through countless other gowns that were hanging behind the counter. As she kept looking for it, it was obvious that she doesn't use any kind of organizational system... She also didn't seem to have any kind of a schedule that indicated that I was supposed to be there picking up the dress. She did find it (thank god!) after at least a minute of searching. And she said 'okay that'll be 45$'. So I said 'shouldn't I try it on first?' Her response was 'it will have to be quick then because I have a bride coming'. This really aggravated me.... I'm sure she normally has people try on their dress before paying but she was rushed for time (even though I had this appointment scheduled prior). As for the dress, it was just taken in at the bust and I was happy with how it fit, however in the future I would go somewhere that is a bit more professional with their shop presentation and customer service. read more

Let me start by saying I LOVE THIS PLACE. I feel welcomed and comfortable every time I have been here. Sofi and Janine listen and get in detail about how they can fix the problem. I have brought more than 6items here in the last year and I have never had a bad experience. I recently just brought a bridesmaids dress to be taken out (the wrong size was ordered through a dress shop) they added fabric and had me try on to make sure it fit perfect before I paid. Knowing how they work,I know that just walking in or even having an apt that I may not be the only person in the store with a garment to try on so patience is key. As for the tiny pup walking around he's innocent,loving,extremely cute, and no where near a threat. These people have become more like a second family & Id honestly wait on an hour line if i had too just to get something altered here, and i will now never go anywhere else!
