It's a really cute store. Lots of great stuff. However, I really dislike that they sell shells and coral. I don't understand why on earth they would sell those things? Rita, supervisor said she didn't give me a hard time? Really when you don't give the customer what they want cause the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! " I came the other day to return a Christmas present my daughter received! The sales clerk would not give my a merchandise credit even it was clearly a SOHA Living item marked $35.80 with NO red line! She said since I did not have a gift receipt or know my daughters girlfriends name so they could look it up, there was Nothing she could do!!! Really? I asked for the supervisor/manager! That's when Rita came to the counter, again asking me all those same questions that I didn't know! Why should it matter?? I have your merchandise, not marked down!! Plus, I showed her a 1/2 page advertisement that was in the newspaper stating "After Christmas SALE up to 70% off". I had come in on 12/26 and there were only signs of 50% off! When I asked, what was 70% off, the girl at counter said it was online! But she couldn't find anything online that was 70% off! So very misleading! FALSE ADVERTISING!! So when Rita said she had to call her manager, I told her to ask about the ad! Well, Rita returns and finally gives me a gift card for $35.80. No tax? I'm sure all my credits have included the tax!! Also, she didn't talk to anyone and just decided to do " the right thing" But claimed she did not give me a hard time! I really like this store and appreciate 2 sisters who went to Punahou started this business and SoHa Keiki but will have to think twice on patronizing them because of the bad customer service! Cute store with a lot of souvenirs stuff like door or room signs and things associated with Hawaii. Service on the other hand is terrible. Not accommodating, they were in the way of customers when they discussed amongst themselves how to display things. I asked a question and not only did they avoid eye contact, they didn't bother to answer. They forgot that the customers are paying for their wages. Please train your staff to be a little more helpful and courteous. read more

Eliza P is a TERRIBLE cashier! I was paying cash, she said the total so quietly I had to ask her to repeat what the small change was, and then said what I thought she said back to her to which she said yes. It ended up being smaller than what the actual amount was, but she didn't say anything! She just lazily typed in the incorrect amount I gave her, then handed me back the same coins I just gave her plus extra! She really didn't want to give me my receipt too, I had to ask her for it, & when I asked for clarification of what the total was she said actually it's THIS much. Wtf! At least say, "Oh sorry, the small change is actually X amount" instead of just blindly processing the incorrect amount I gave to you without saying a word. I love visiting SoHa. It's a great place to find beach themed accessories. It's my favorite place to buy seashells, which are farm raised. I've bought gifts for friends and pillows, beach themed signs & accessories for my home & office. They sell Kai brand white gardenia scent and rose scented perfume oil & body lotion. Every few weeks, they get new inventory & beautiful items. Today, I found a plate inspired by tropical leaves that I bought as a gift for my mom. Very disappointing experience to shop somewhere with poor return or exchange policy. 14d only for full refund and 30d for even an exchange. Would recommend shopping at places like Nordstrom who strive for a better customer service experience. Located in the center of Kahala Mall, this beachy gem has a very cool laid back atmosphere. Beach tends to be the major theme, as they have a wide variety of merchandise from pillows to seashells and greeting cards, but all revolve around the beach theme. Bought some small door hangers for gifts and it was tagged with a price of $16.80. As I was walking out the store, I happened to look at receipt and noticed I got charged $17.80 each for the 2 items I bought. I went back to salesgirl who checked me out and told her I got overcharged. She said oh we forgot to change the price so I'll let my manager know. Huh?? Macy's & other stores does a better job and even adjusts price to match online. Being in retail for 20 years plus, we would honor the tagged price within reason. Just makes me think they raised the price a whole dollar so the cost went up that much? Plus these items are their own brand. Their employees have great customer service and they helped me pick out the perfect Hawaiian print wooden cut out for my father's birthday party guest book. I love this store. Every time that I am in Kahala Mall, I end up leaving with something from this store. I think my favorite things to purchase are their signs. They usually have cute expressions, and they come in pleasing colors. I love them so much that I bought my friend a custom-made one for her birthday. My boyfriend and I also purchase gifts here that we sometimes send to the mainland. One of the cuter items was a mason jar shell candle. It was a hit back home with his mom and aunt. Last time I went in, she was smearing cream cheese on a thin bagel and quite literally glared at us, as though we had wandered into her living room instead of a STORE. Maybe she was the only one working-- but you know, it's illegal to not give an employee a lunch break. I'm not sure if it's the same woman, I didn't pay that much attention, yet if it's not then they are all interchangeable. That's why only three stars. Staff here is a real downer. This is a beautiful store that makes me happy just to walk in to. I love that many of the items are local and handmade, while they also keep an exciting mix of what is trendy around the world. The novelty section in the back is always a crack-up! Yes, the beautiful and cute items in the front lure you in, but don't let that fool you... You can find anyone a gift in there. I've gotten several gifts for guy friends that were so different and fun. Every time you walk in to the store you notice how many new items are there! How do they do it! This is retail magic... I also feel good about shopping there, as many of my friends don't know this is a locally owned store, not business anywhere else but Oahu! And while some say it is expensive, I've never regretted a purchase I've made. Not one. I'm on a budget myself but the items cheered my life a little and by golly it was worth it. If you're looking for cute, local designs to help decorate your home or the perfect farewell gift, this is definitely the place to go! Plus, you help support local designers! SoHa sells a lot of great things that represents Hawaii: shells, signs, pillows, kitchenware, jewelry, candles, reusable bags, vases, local snacks and food, and even kid items such as local books and toys, etc. But the downside to having so many amazing items in one store is the store space. If there's a lot of people in the store, it can get pretty tight in there, and I hate having to ask people if they could kindly move aside. SoHa Living is located inside Kahala Mall, next to Simply Organized and Cinnamon Girl. There's lots of parking available at the mall. Prices are a bit expensive here though. On my last visit, I bought a super cute pillow that had the Hawaiian islands with the saying "This is my happy place," but the pillowcase alone was about $35, while the additional pillow ranged from $12-25. Everything I from this store way to cute! I think if you need to look for a good gift this is the place to go. They sell mostly beach home furniture and baby things. I think they have the best signs. I recently bought a sign 9x12 inches that has a list of areas in town. You can also to custom printing, you can pick whatever color you want, and I think for the most part you can say whatever you want. They also sell shells, starfish, and other things for crafting. The baby section is amazing, they have everything from organic baby products to diaper bags to custom signs. It is a little bit on the pricey side but they're worth it. The people who work there are always nice, parking can be a little bit of a pain, just because it's for the whole mall. They also have a small jewelry section. What a fun store! What drew me in was all the decor right inside the door. There were buckets with all different kinds of sea shells and "beachy" decorations. I think it's really cool when people decorate a bathroom or a space with a beach theme and I thought, these decorations would be perfect for a beach house...Which I woud love to own one day. So upon walking in, I did notice a kinda funny smell- a little like stale ocean. But as I continued through I checked out the other shelves and a fun sign popped out at me. It said "Out of my mind be back in 5 minutes" and I just laughed. It was a little wooden sign and I figured it's perfect for my desk at work. So I had to get it. Then I found a pencil set made out of recycled newspapers. Ingenious. Me, being a person who loves recycled items had to get this too. I think it's very cool. Anyways. I had to stop before I kept buying things I didn't need but I really enjoyed this store. I absolutely love this little store in Kahala mall! From the looks of the front it looks like a really touristy shop with all these glass containers of shells. I honestly never went in there because of that. But my friend was working there one day and I decided to drop by to say "hello." I sure am glad I did! After you bypass the shells, it's like a little hidden New York City in there! I found things in there that I've only seen and gotten in NYC, oh man, it made me miss home! There's frozen hot chocolate mix from Serendipity's in there and I was in heaven! There were the greek designed ceramic cups that I've only seen at the MOMA shop so I was really excited and giddy when I saw that. Then there's also local flavor stuff like shell bracelets and earrings which I love, so this little gem of a place is a nice combination of island living and big city living. Just love it! read more

The shells they sell are lovely but honestly, you could get nearly exactly the same shells in big bags at WalMart and Kmart for tons cheaper. In love with this boutiques pieces and newest editions. Coastal/ beach/ Hawaiian style finds, great place for unique pieces average to high pricing based on items and category. Huge selection of home decor pieces. I also have purchased items and had them shipped. I ordered several throw pillows they came as expected wouldve been nice to have the items wrapped in plastic within the box for packaging care instead of just piled into the box (in case of incidentals during shipment/ water damage etc). Would be something to look into for future shipments to out of state consumers. Very happy with products always some incredible finds great job with selecting vendors and products. read more

Full of Hawaiian and beach themed home decor and "fun" items, it's the perfect store to hit up for gifts, much like Sand People (if that's any comparison for you). They have everything from cheesy but cute wooden signs, wine stoppers, toys, coasters, mini purses, everything. My mom is obsessed with Hawaiian-y things so this is always one of my first stops when looking for something for her. It's very hip in that they use Apple computers for checking out, and even iPads when they're busy and want to move the line along. I always appreciate people bringing in fancy technology seamlessly into more physical stores, if that makes sense. The store is not big, but they manage to fit tons of items in here. If you're in Kahala Mall, it's definitely worth a stop by just to look around, if anything. The prices are probably fair, but they seem a little steep - $36 for a small wooden sign that reads "THIS IS MY HAPPY PLACE" with the Hawaiian islands seems a bit much. I absolutely love this store - but the biggest hurdle for me is the price. I do enjoy the beach feel and theme and the signs and shells. but I do think they could do with a little more variety. It is OK to have a main theme, but nice to show different ways to express it. After you get past the shells, you do see different things you would not normally, like colorful one of a kind pillows, stationary, picture frames, vases and table runners. You will certainly find one of a kind items - you will be disappointed! Then there's also local items like coffee and jewelry. I am very much appreciating the uniqueness of the store - I will say the service can at times be touch and go - sometimes I get great service and other times the gals just chat in the back the whole time. If I owned a beachhouse on the Northshore or Lanikai, I would DEFINITELY decorate with stuff exclusively from Soha.
