Hundreds strut through Plaça Indústria "Parrots Plaza" every night. Rainbow-colored umbrellas, cocktail tables and chairs in rows face out on both sides of the walking street so you can watch the nightly parade, and be watched in return! Service is ok considering the servers have to squeeze through the crowds. Cocktails are typical well/call drinks and big fruity tourist concoctions. Don't pass up their Piña Colada! Food is basic tourist bar fare. Eye candy is free.

Once you get off the train from Barcelona and check into your hotel, might I suggest you come here first. In fact, I can't imagine coming to Sitges without coming here. That's how essential Jamie W. and I think this spot is to any adult trip to Sitges. Parrots is quite a conglomerate in Sitges encompassing a hotel, a restaurant, a fitness club, and other local small businesses. At the start of the Street of Sin (a.k.a., gay central), this is their most prominent property, the bar with the huge terrace at the busy Plaça de la Indústria. The world passing by is what makes a table in the terrace essential. The newspaper on the table is the menu in multiple languages. They offer the standard bar bites, but the cocktails really stand out. We kept ordering the 9.30€ Pina Colada because it was huge, potent, and reminded us we were on vacation (photo: https://yelp.to/LP1bnRx_wm). The people watching is world-class starting with well-sculpted street acrobats standing on each other and the drag queens parading down the Street of Sin. Welcome to Sitges, baby! COCKTAILS - 5 stars...the Pina Colada hits the spot...so did the 9.30€ Espresso Martini (photo: https://yelp.to/xGixdqW0Tx) AMBIANCE - 5 stars...just right on a warm day SERVICE - 5 stars...the guys handle the entire terrace solo on their shifts...fast and responsive and quite cute TOTAL - 5 stars...now you know where to make a beeline RELATED - Exploring Barcelona and Sitges? There are no indoor tables or seats. Outside, the aptly named Runway Terrace has several rows of cocktail tables and seats facing the "runway" which is Carrer de Joan Tarrida, the infamously narrow alley with at least 6 gay bars. At night, men packed to overflowing in front of the bars. You are basically walking the catwalk or runway to get there. It's fun to wade through but watch for pickpockets. This became our favorite bar each night where we could observe the passing parade, plus watch which guys are contemplating and then entering Bukkake "Bar" across the way (IYKYK). The servers and bartenders are super friendly. One waiter remembers and treats us as old regulars, and our bar tab was paid up nightly when leaving. Sangrias are good. G&T are popular and gin comes in a huge goblet with separate cans of tonic water. Runway Terrace had an unexpectedly fun and relaxing vibe, but steps away from the action!

Then it dawned on me from the wings in their logo that they were actually referring to an airport runway, not a fashion show. Gee, I guess I went too gay in my assumption and made an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'. Jamie W and I finally tried this bar after sitting next door at Parrots several times (review: https://yelp.to/SCMxKXqy59). Parrots is such a tourist magnet it attracts a cross-section of customers not exclusively gay. That's not the case with the hot pink Runway as it was all male on the terrace and the view was, let's face it, the meat parade on Carrer de Joan Tarrida, otherwise known as the Street of Sin. We had quite the manview as we were served by the friendly Neil supposedly dressed as a flight attendant but looking more like a baggage handler. After all, you can carry the metaphor so far. Since we were in a tropical mood, Jamie had the 9€ Mai Tai, while I went for the 9€ Malibu Bay Breeze, a mix of coconut rum and pineapple & cranberry juices (Photo 9). Let's say we flew the friendly skies. COCKTAILS - 4 stars...fruity enough with a mule kick AMBIANCE - 3 stars...nice view, not much else outside SERVICE - 4.5 stars...Neil was a good guy TOTAL - 4 stars...not the runway I was expecting RELATED - Exploring Sitges? The private party took over the entire outside patio. Servers including the owner were awesome! What seemed like a parade of non-stop tapas were delicious! Olives were so good the servers had to keep refilling our table bowls. Our favorite tapas were the Patatas Bravas (fried potatoes with the spicy hot mayo type sauce), and the grilled bread with lots of spices and toppings (I have no idea what it was called). Friends enjoyed their Beef Stroganoff entree. I and everyone else raved about the Bacallao (cod) entree which was moist and tasty! The Mediterranean food was on point. Good bottles of red and white Spanish wines were emptied. Our table's favorite of 8 probably finished 8 bottles LOL. During regular seating, Incognito has both indoor and outdoor tables. They usually temporarily close during the offseason and re-open when the tourists return.

Visiting Casa Bacardi was one of my main reasons for visiting Sitges. I wanted a day trip to a…read moresmaller town, and I found it really interesting that Bacardi had this connection to Spain. The tour wouldn't book properly online so I contacted Bacardi directly to ask for assistance. They were very prompt in answering and helped me get placed on the tour. The staff online and in Sitges was incredibly friendly and helpful. The tour was pretty basic in terms of rum making, but the history portion was interesting. Next was the portion where they show us how to make cocktails. They demonstrated a couple of different ones, a mojito and a Cuba libre. Then I was shocked at what came next. Everyone was supposed to take a straw and try it as in the same drink in the same cup. I'm sorry, but that is disgusting. Backwash happens, friends! I was so grossed out. They did that for the next drink as well. What was left in the glass after everyone's straw sucking was then offered as, "Hey guys! It's free!" Seriously?! Needless to say, I didn't try these drinks. I think they should have poured them into little sample cups like the rum we tried or not have us sample them at all. Even stranger, I seemed to be the only person bothered by this. Perhaps everyone was feeling loopy from the rum samples? Then we made our own drinks which was more sanitary. I made a mojito and although I've made mojito before, their method was a little different, so I learned something. They also had that good ice which makes an excellent mojito, you know what I'm talking about, the little crushed ice they have at places like Sonic. The whole ten people sharing a drink thing really wasn't ok. I wouldn't do this tour unless you were in the area and have run out of things to do.

Most question why is Casa Bacardi, better known as having its foundations in Cuba, located in…read moreSitges. The answer is rather simple as the founder, Funco Bacardi Masso, was originally a Spanish wine merchant was born in Sitges, Catalonia, Spain in 1814 and didn't immigrate to Cuba until 1830. Though the records are rather scant, it is believed that he first started his rum, then considered a rather lowly and foul tasting drink, experimentation which he later perfected in Cuba using a yeast formulation, now proprietary and still used to this day, along with oak barrel and charcoal aging. Casa Bacardi has a rather small museum offering tours in English (be sure to select the correct tour) for 9 euros which includes a tasting along with your choice of a Mojito or Cuban Libre. I'd suggest the Cuban Libre as the mojito is concocted with a cheap Barcardi premix; not very good. The inside bar is very elegant, extremely pleasant but when having your drink, I'd suggest having it on the very pleasant outside terrace setting.

Granted we don't speak Catalonian or Spanish, but does that mean I don't need a nuzzle like the real bears coming out of hibernation?
