Conveniently located at Cambria Pines Lodge, this spot occupies one of their small cabins. Fairly simple, just a cabin with 2 massage tables. No frills, but just what I needed. The massage was very relaxing. Gentle long strokes, medium pressure, and the use of CBD, hot towels and hot rocks. More of a Swedish massage than anything deep tissue. My masseuse was sweet and very welcoming. Booking was done over the phone and I'd imagine, tough to come by during busy season as there's only one treatment room. AMAZING!!!!!! I was dying for a massage and this was one of the couple spa places that was in our room binder directory of the area. It caught my eye because they had a 30 minute massage and sadly, this little lady doesn't have a whole lot to spend this time around. I figured 30 minute would be better than nothing even though a 90 minute massage would be ideal. Anywho, I rang them up and left a message as it said that they were probably in a session and would return your call as soon as possible. They rang me about 10 minutes later. I had a pretty open schedule so I set an appointment for 4pm at their studio at Cambria Pines Lodge. They do out calls if you're staying in a hotel or I'm guessing living in the area and that will run you an additional $20. I popped on over and Rita who was my masseuse greeted me outside their building. She said I could get undressed and get under the covers. She came in when I was ready and asked if I had any specific areas I wanted her to focus. I let her know my lower back has been sore lately and I'd been feeling a bit off as I've been to a chiropractor lately. I swear it was the longest, most amazing 30 minute massage I've ever had, especially for the price ($55). It was mainly a back/shoulder/neck/arms massage, but it included hot stones (o-m-g) and relaxing oils. She was totally professional and checked in with me to make sure the pressure was good. I loved it. She also didn't really chat with me which was a perfect way to full take in and appreciate getting a massage. I quite liked the ambiance of the room. There was an additional table which I'm assuming is for couples massages if your SO or friend wants to have a massage at the same time as you. The room was dimly lit with 2 chairs to put your items on, a water fountain and a bathroom in case you need it. I loved this place and I felt so relaxed after. The atmosphere in the room was immediately calming and peaceful. It had been a particularly stressful week for me and the massage was, and still is, very appreciated. Diane is a very good listener but seemed just as happy to maintain quiet reflection. Her skill at what she does is impressive. I received a deep massage. I wish I could write a better review, but I have never received such bad service from a place that is supposed to promote healing. My husband and I were looking for a place to have a couples massage for our last day in Cambria. We were afraid we wouldn't be able to get in anywhere and therefore were delighted to find a place that had online booking. This offers the convenience of seeing what times are available and being able to book at any hour. We booked for the next morning. That morning we revolved our plans around our appointment time. They called in the morning for a credit card number (no problem there) and said they could not do our chosen time and moved it back. That was not a big deal since it was only 15 minutes later. They called again while we were going into a restaurant for breakfast and said they had to change it again to 30 minutes earlier because the therapist had another appointment. At that point, it was getting too confusing and we didn't want to rush so we just asked to cancel it. She then said we could do the original time we had booked and added that we booked at 11:00pm--insinuating that this was our fault for booking late. This is what online booking is for! If the time can't be accommodated, then that time needs to be blocked off. Their entire morning was shown as available. We didn't want the original time since she had said before that the woman had another appointment so we worried that our appointment would be rushed...plus she was getting very rude and neither of us wanted her to be our therapist. The fact that they didn't have staff and had to scramble is NOT our problem. If she was just nice and honest and explained the situation instead of changing the appointment time three times with an attitude, we probably would have still gone. She ended up hanging up on my husband! Being honest and nice goes a long way and it could have been handled much differently. Instead of admitting it was their own fault and offering a solution NICELY, they chose to be snotty, rude, and blame us for using their online booking system at a time not convenient for them. It ruined the end of an otherwise wonderful stay in Cambria. read more

My friend and I made a reservation here - one of us received a therapeutic massage, the other a mud treatment WITH full body massage. I made it clear when I made the reservation that we were not a couple and that these were separate treatments. Unfortunately, for some reason, they set us up in the "couples massage" area. This was not as comfortable as having our own spaces, because at one point the massage therapist was discussing the masage with my friend. This conversation went on for 10-minutes and they were literally right next to me. This took a lot away from the relaxing feeling you generally get from a massage with the nice music playing in the background. Also, they charge less for a couple getting a massage at the same time. Since we were not a couple, we did not get this discount. Yet, somehow we also didn't get the benefit of our having our own separate spaces. OK - all of the above issues are not as important as the MAIN EVENT. How were the massages? We both left with the same pains we entered with. We are both sort of veterans of massage therapies, so we've had lots of experiences with lots of different massage therapists and methods. It was a pleasant experience - no terrible things like sharp fingernails or bad methods. However, there was also no real high level skill at getting knots out or truly helping the muscles in the back, neck, and shoulders relax. Beyond that, the therapists were inredibly nice. This place was located on the Cambria Lodge compounds. The place is a no frills, converted hotel room place with two rooms. My friend and I went for their 80 minute body polish/full body massage. They put us in the "couples" room in the back but had drawn the curtains for more privacy. Pros: i loved the body treatment i received. They started with a upperbody massage and used hot stones. She spent a lot of time working on my shoulders which was where i was the most tense. Then they scrubbed my back with the salt and it felt so good! I probably wouldn't recommend the salt scrub if you have sensitive skin, but my skin loved it. Then she finished it off with lower body massage and scrub and massaged my foot. I am 4 months pregnant and she accomodated my needs. My friend walked in with a headache and she said it was gone by the time we left. Cons: I didn't really know what to expect when I came here. I was hoping the place itself would've been nicer. I like very dark massage room. This place was basically a hotel room, they had covered the windows, but it was still pretty light and you can see everything. Also the bathroom was really small and not too tidy. They don't have the amenities a day spa would. read more

I agree with one of the earlier posts, my massage here with Christie was unquestionably the BEST massage I've ever had. I get massages regularly and have been getting them for years and I have never had one where it seemed the like the therapist could literally read my mind. She keyed in on spots immediately when she ran her hand over them and knew exactly what those areas needed. I've never had a therapist literally catch every knot and tweaky spot on my body before. She didn't miss a thing! I've always had a lot of tightness and tension on the right side of my neck all the way down to my right shoulder. I've described this tightness to therapists before and even if they work on it a little bit, it always feels like they missed something in that area. Christie was the first therapist who immediately recognized the tension and 1.) said something to me about it and 2.) worked on it in exactly the right way. I can't say enough about how great my massage was. I totally agree with the other post which talked about how attuned she was to what my body needed. Sure, the spa is in a small space but I think it fits with the Cambria Pines Lodge feel which is sorta rustic and woodsy. I found it charming and cozy. Honestly though, I would be willing to get a massage ANYWHERE if it was with Christie. read more

I had an 80-minute massage with Christie and it was, hands-down, the best massage I have ever had, and I have had more than my share. I'm picky about my massage. With other massages and other massage therapists, I have almost always left either feeling that it was a waste of time because, although pleasant, none of my pains were really worked out, or I've left completely in spasm because the massage therapists used too deep pressure and just told me to breathe through the pain. And I'm a vocal client, giving feedback, asking for more or less pressure, etc. Yet, with Christie, she was just ATTUNED to what I needed. I communicated for sure, but I really didn't need to direct everything because she listened to my body and how it responded to everything she did. Her 30+ years as a massage therapist came across for me for how incredibly well she adapted and shifted and how smoothly she transitioned from one part to another -- and integrated the hot stones. It was fantastic. I agree with an earlier reviewer about the space being simply a converted hotel room. And I noticed how bright the windows seemed, especially the skylight after I'd been face-down for a while. But I don't really care about the look of the place, and I just closed my eyes. I loved the feel of the place. the candles, the music, the essential oils, the fountains inside and outside -- they all helped set the mood for relaxation and a truly therapeutic massage. read more

We both left feeling like our knots were smoothed out. We were a little sore after but that's definitely a sign of money well spend!
