My dress was from the brand BHLDN, she took up the dress at the straps, added padding to the bust area, and hemmed 6 layers of my dress. She has years of experience working as a seamstress for an upscale dept store, her shop is based out of a residency, but is setup nicely and she is very professional. When I got my wedding gown back from Sokhim, I could not wait to post my review & pictures but I wanted to wait until after my wedding! Fast forward, I am married now and I am so glad I gave Sokhim a chance. I was nervous about going here because there weren't that many reviews or pictures of wedding gown alterations and it wasn't on the list of referrals from the shop I bought my dress. She was so kind and understood exactly what I needed, and then brought her own suggestions that were 1,000% needed. Sokhim was recommended to me by the shop where I bought my wedding dress and separately by a friend who had her wedding dress altered by Sokhim. Sokhim did an amazing job altering my wedding dress. I thought the fit of my dress wasn't terrible going in, but it definitely needed hemmed. Sokhim showed me how the dress was supposed to fit. Once she pinned it up for me, I was shocked at how much better it looked. She took a dress I loved and made it better. One of my favorite things was that she engaged me in conversation about how I wanted the dress to fit, how much room I'd need to sit down comfortably, how to accentuate different features, etc. She has a lot of knowledge and experience and it shows! My dress also has a lace/beaded train and beaded bodice. She had to move the lace part of the train into the right position after hemming. You would never even know it was altered, though. She did a flawless job and the train was absolutely perfect. She is also super easy to work with, sweet, and funny. The fittings were quick and efficient, and she made sure to work in plenty of time for a second and third fitting, making sure I was comfortable with the timeline. July 2020 - I needed a last minute and local Seamstress last summer to alter my bridesmaid dress. I came across Sokhim and after reading her reviews, I gave her a call and she was very nice and reassuring that could get it done when I needed it at a very decent price. She took in the dress at the waist and hemmed a few inches off. It was ready and neatly pressed when I picked it up! Few days later, I had contacted her again for my daughter's flower girl dress for her satin sash to be sown to it so it wouldn't move around during the wedding. She took the dress and said I could give her $5 whenever I am in the area and trusted me. March 2021- My maternity dress came in the day before my maternity photos and it was too long! Sokhim's workshop is relatively close to my house, and Yelp is how I found her. I only needed three pairs of pants hemmed for a trip, but they all turned out great. Note that her shop is part of a house, so you'll be looking for a house with her business sign on it. There is a semi-circular driveway for easy in and out, but the parking can be a bit tricky because it's on a busy street. Inside the shop is a large area with plenty of space to try on the clothing you want altered. There is something satisfying about the sound of the curtain on the track as it's closed around you, and this curtain leaves lots of space for any kind of garment to be tried on. When I went to pick up my pants, there was a woman in the fitting area hanging up her wedding dress, so I feel pretty comfortable that Sokhim can do it all! One piece of advice: give her as much time as possible. It's a courtesy to the business but it also saves you the worry of getting an important pair of pants or dress back in time. read more

I would highly recommend Sokhim, she's truly a professional and knows her craft! My daughter needed to get some alterations done for her prom dress. When we bought it, it was a bit too long for her and we were concerned she would trip on it. We wanted her to feel beautiful, and comfortable, and not have to worry about the dress on her special day. Sokhim was able to pull it off in two weeks! She made sure it was the perfect length, fixed the back zipper so it would lay perfectly along her curves, and adjusted the chest area to fit nicely. I am short and petite, but have some curves. I assumed we would hem the dress and the sleeves, but what Sokhim did for me was more than I could have imagined. Sohkim was wonderful to work with! I bought a sample wedding dress off of the rack, so it was far too big for me everywhere. In addition, the entire top of the dress has very intricate appliqué and beading. Sohkim was able to take the dress in and maintain the integrity of the details on it. It looks beautiful on and totally fits like a glove. She also was very helpful in deciding which alterations should be completed or not. I explained to her that I wanted less pouf on the dress, so we agreed that the petticoats could be taken out. I initially wanted longer straps on the dress, but she advised me against that an explained why it would actually be more uncomfortable in the long run. In general, she is super friendly and pleasant to talk to in addition to being great at her craft. My only negative note is that her phone can be very echoey when you call, so it can be hard to hear/speak. Other than that, she is extremely prompt with her responses and service. I came in with a skirt suit that needed altering. She managed to do the jacket correctly but not the skirt. It was still too big. I contacted her and she scheduled a time for me to come in. I sat in the drive way for 20 minutes, no response. So I left. She proceeded to calls me hours later asking if I was unable to make it and that's why I wasn't at my appointment. Which was slightly insulting. She was the one who skipped our appointment. Then she scheduled me to come back in later in the day. I do, at the time expected. I waited 10 minutes. I called and rang the door bell and nothing. It's so unprofessional. First she couldn't get the alteration right. Then she refused to fix her mistake. I will not do business with this person again. It was a $200 dollar alteration that I could have had done for less than $100 elsewhere. It's a total rip-off considering the service I've experienced. read more

This woman is magical! I bought my dress about six years ago when I was previously engaged, and severely underweight. It was "THE"dress, so of course I kept it, hoping maybe one day I could somehow wear it for my future wedding. When I tried it on for my current wedding it was about 3 inches away from zipping. I refused to go back to my unhealthy habits just to fit in the dress, so I asked if Sokhim could take it out. I was worried that it would be a really difficult procedure, but the way she explained it to me, it was no big deal! I had already purchased lace and extra illusion tulle for plans to make the train longer, but instead we use that to add fabric to the sides of the dress so it could fit my body. In addition, she used several different lace styles I'd purchased to create the gorgeous and unique train.
