Limited seating, so I wouldn't plan to go here with a big group, but the takeout experience is always pleasant. Solid tacos here. For some reason half of the mom and pops little Mexican/taco shops around town they don't offer shrimp and fish tacos. But this restaurant does. And it's a solid choice. The slaw they use was tasty and so was the seasoning of both fish and shrimp tacos. They do have a few tables that you can dine in. The vibe there feels pretty homey for a little shop. Also have a few tables outside for outdoor dining. This location offers street parking only but it's not super difficult to park. If I remember correctly they do offer specials on Taco Tuesday. Food: I ordered beef tostada and beef fajitas which was very delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful with peppers, and onions. They give you 4 tortillas to make into your own little tacos. The rice was moist and flavored accordingly and the toppings like the fried bean and guacamole was good. Sour cream was bit watery and the tostada does get soggy with all the toppings on the top but nonetheless still good. Tres leche is pretty sweet and I recommend eating it refrigerated Service: Food was made quickly and they made sure I had everything Ambiance: it's a lot smaller inside like perhaps 6 people can sit and there some outdoor seating but not much to work with. Stopped by during a walk this afternoon and found this gem. Although small, the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The service was quick and kind. Everything from our chicken nachos and veggie tostadas to our main course of enchiladas and a shrimp burrito were bursting with flavor. This review is of their vegan take out only. How exciting to have a totally vegan Mexican option in Worcester! I ordered the beef taco, hibiscus taco, and tofu taco with rice and beans and a vegan tamal. The vegan tamal is outstanding! 10/10 texture, taste, and look. I would absolutely order again. I found the steak and hibiscus tacos to be a bit too salty for my palate. The hibiscus was rather plain as well. The tofu was the tastiest taco of the three but was very soggy and hard to eat. I did get takeout so I'm sure everything was sitting for a bit but I think they all would've benefitted from double corn tortillas. The refried beans was a huge let down as their were watery and not very tasty. The rice was good but the container was really small :(. I thought the prices were a bit high for tacos a la carte (especially the tofu taco). Overall I'd order again but perhaps try some different items like the vegan chorizo torta or sope. read more

This place is so good, they have a really good deal where you can get 3 different types of tacos and 2 sides (rice and beans) and salsa with chips for $13. Along with the delicious food, they also have Mexican Coca-Cola (my favorite since it's made with REAL and PURE sugar. There was only one lady working there (the owner of the restaurant). The food was amazing. We'll definitely go back here for Mexican take-out! There's no A/C, which is why I gave it 4 stars. The art on the walls are beautiful. read more

The website itself is a little confusing, my coworker was confused on the extra ingredients for the burritos and ended up with a plain chicken and rice burrito. First time I came here was about 3 years ago. It was a humble, little corner restaurant with really good tacos. For whatever reason life has, I hadn't since returned until tonight. Quite optimistic about my re-visit, I ordered a chicken burrito with sour cream, no guac available tonight, which was a bit of a bummer because I also like chips and guac. The lady over the phone suggests the pico de gallo instead, which I tend to enjoy, so I chose that. Service is friendly enough but I had to charge my card twice due to cashier forgetting to ring me up for the chips. No coke available either, but understandable, considering they offer Mexican coke. I went with the Mexican Sprite. Now, I'm eating the pico de gallo, which was yummy however, as you can see below, I got a little something extra along with it. Dis-gus-ting. I tried to not let it completely ruin the meal, although paranoid about finding another hair is not how I like to spend mine. It does not help that you cannot even peek into the kitchen if you tried. Just disappointed. I understand the hustle but there's some things you don't let customers deal with. read more

All I can say is get there early, the guac sells out fast and there is a reason for that, it's bangin. It's always made fresh that day as is the salsa and corn tortillas. I purchased one fish taco, one beef taco, an order of guac and home made chips. The fish taco is the best one I have ever eaten, the beef one wasn't bad either but i really wanted another fish one. I went here for the first time yesterday, and it was a disaster. I couldn't wait to enjoy some fresh tacos. Well unfortunately, that did not happen! The first thing I noticed while waiting is that the microwave had went off. After I had gotten my tacos, that's when I figured out that they microwaved my food. I had gotten two pork and one beef taco. The amount of grease in it was horrible and the beef had a strong distinct taste. The tacos in general were soggy! The meat wasn't even warm or fresh! I didn't even finish the tacos because it wasn't edible. At least now I know not to go there anymore. read more

Location/parking: Right off of Pleasant street, off street parking. Outdoor seating is two tables outside of the restaurant. Able to sit outside with my dog but there's not a lot of room. Food: We ate a chicken and pork tamale with the red sauce, chips and salsa, and a fish taco. The chicken tamale had a good amount of chicken, but the pork tamale you could barely taste the pork. The red sauce didn't have enough flavor so will try the green sauce next time. The chips were great but the salsa was bland. We asked for some jalapeños and added it to the salsa and that kicked the flavor up. The fish taco was, by far the best thing we ate there. I would eat a dozen of those. The fish was well fried and the sauce on top of the taco had a great flavor and spice. It came on a corn tortilla that was well made. Service: There were two people working at the place and since we were sitting outdoors we had to get our own utensils, napkins, and hot sauce. I think that's intentional though. The place is not a restaurant where there are servers. You order, pick up and pay at the front. Overall: I would try this place again. The fish tacos alone make me want to go back. The tamales were good but not something I would go back for. Outdoor seating is small so if you want to sit outside get there early. For what the place seems to be intended as its a good Mexican restaurant with no frills. read more

Sol of Mexico brings a little bit of Sonora to Worcester, supplying it's residents with not only delicious tacos, but with freshly made tortillas as well. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by the woman who owns the place, who not only answers your questions, and takes your order, but cooks the food and brings it to your table. She's a sweetheart who makes you feel comfortable and at home in the small and spartan space. The food comes out quickly enough, and it's certainly worth the wait to have it made fresh. The beef and pork tacos are good enough, but the veggie and especially the fish are better. The fish is perfectly fried and tender and flaky, splash some Tapatio on it and it's the best fish taco in the city. The refried beans in the veggie taco are smooth and creamy, and the lettuce and scallions add a nice crunch. Again, splash a little Tapatio on it and it's a guilt free bite to eat. If you're on the west side and craving some fresh tortillas or some delicious fish tacos, head on over and dig in at Sol of Mexico. read more

The restaurant is cute, colorful, and clean. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating upon request. There is a large selection for vegetarians. The service was great and staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The food was great and inexpensive too. Two burritos and two drinks for $20 ! Delicious and fresh tasting ingredients. Not sure where all the positive comments came from. We went Friday noon, and ordered a chicken fajitas and burrito. Sat there 25 minutes when the guy said they were "working on other orders" (exact words used by the waiter). When the food finally came out, it was just lukewarm. Fajitas tasted really bland. Guacamole can use way more cilantro. Beans are really runny. Rice is the only okay part of the meal, other than the sour cream. My daughter and I ate lunch at Sol of Mexico today. We shared an order of guacamole and chips. The guacamole with the kind I make with smooth avocado, chunks of tomato and citrus juice and the chips were crisp, light and delicate. We thought they were made in house. I ordered a fish taco and vegetable quesadillas. Both were fresh, appealingly plated and delicious. My daughter ordered chicken enchiladas with mole. They were superb. We each had a traditional Mexican drink. Mine was made with rice and cinnamon and hers with tamarind. Refreshing and tasty. I took a slice of tres leche cake with me and we ate it later. This was real baking, a lovely butter-eggs-flour cake not something from a cake mix which tastes of stale cardboard. Delicious. Primarily a take away place, the restaurant has only three tables. This is authentic Mexican food. Enjoy! I usually scan the other reviews before posting on Yelp but I was exhausted last night and just wanted to get mine out there. The two negative reviews -- particularly the one star review from the guy who said this is not authentic -- made me bristle a bit. I've not seen many Mexican restaurants that offer authentic beverages. Tu Y Yo in Somerville does but To Y Yo is a completely different kind of restaurant. It is a dinner restaurant stressing fine dining. Sol of Mexico is a casual dining, primarily take out place. It is rightly called a taqueria. To criticize this place for not having the one thing this would be patron wanted is ridiculous. I was thrilled to be able to taste three dishes -- the two beverages and the cake -- that I had never had before. To me, that puts Sol of Mexico way above the standard taqueria. read more
