Brought a couple of friends from out of town due to the gluten free options for my friend and I really wanted a good margarita. The ambiance was great! My house margarita was delicious ( wished it had been served in a margarita glass instead of a regular glass - but it was still good). This is where it stops. The food was terrible, bland, and not authentic mexican. I expected so much more from this place. My enchiladas seemed like they were made from a rotisserie chicken, heated in the microwave, and splashed with some sort of boring sauce with no flavor. I had to ask for refried beans on the side and they were nothing to write home about. Guacamole was blah... Stick with Cancun's in Grafton if you want authentic Mexican. I really wanted to love this place, but it just fell short. They had a huge line waiting for a table at 8pm but thankfully we had a reservation! The place is big inside and very open and very nice. Our waiter was very friendly and always around except when we needed something (odd...) I had the beef short rib meal. The meat itself had no flavor and the chipotle sauce tasted like a jar sauce that was forgotten and added on last minute. We had the guava creme brulee and the white chocolate and passion fruit mousse. The creme brulee tasted really good but was more of a loose custard instead of a firm brulee style. The passion mousse tasted like yogurt - the only good part was the passion fruit on the bottom. The prices are pretty average and they have a huge parking lot. We attended a show at a nearby music venue and finally had a chance to check out the Mezcal Tequila Kitchen restaurant. My wife and I are big fans of Mexican food and I'm sad to say this place fell short of expectations. It was Friday night around 6:00PM and there was about 30 minute wait unless you had reservations. Not unexpected as the parking lot was full of cars. We ended up sitting at the bar and I ordered a margarita with salt on the rim. The bartender was knowledgeable about the different types of tequila and the taste did not disappoint. The only issue was the line was the size of half a lime and I wasn't able to squeeze into my glass without making a sticky mess. My wife had a Red Sangria and was happy with it. We ordered chips and guacamole to have with our drinks but had to remind the waiter that we ordered them as our main dish arrived at our seats. The guacamole was flavorless. Probably the worst I've ever had. There was no spice and it basically tasted like a regular avocado with some tomato and cilantro. I make my own, which is not very hard to do but I add a mild spice and cilantro topped with fresh squeezed lime juice. Not the case with their guacamole. We usually devour it but in this case we didn't finish at least half of it. I ordered my usual steak Fajita. I'm used to having the fajita sizzling on a cast iron pan with heaping of peppers and onions. This fajita wasn't sizzling at all. It seemed like the peppers and onions were previously prepared and added onto the cast iron pan which was hot to touch but not scalding hot. There were five large pieces of tough steak, which it may sound like I'm nitpicking but the size of the steak was really too big for the smaller sized tortilla. They only serve corn tortillas which I prefer and told me they don't serve flour due to gluten sensitivity. It seems that there are never enough tortillas to completely finish my onions and peppers so I ended up eating out of the cast iron pan. There was a slight crunch to the rice but not nearly as crunchy as the rice that was served to my wife. Overall not that great of a fajita. My wife said the salmon was good but the rice wasn't fully cooked and really inedible. The people watching around the bar was certainly entertaining. There was one particular gentleman with a pretty dark tan for April that kept us entertained. I must say he had a very nice white fur coat on. I'm willing to give this place another chance to see if it was just a bad nice but I certain my wife won't be returning. One last thing, their online menu only has their drinks listed with no mention of food dishes. I did find a limited chef special menu online but nothing else. Not great food I'm sorry to say and for the price of the guacamole and chips alone I would expect a little more flavor. Zarape Restaurant in Marlborough Massachusetts has such high quality Mexican food that the bar has been set very high. I recommend trying Zarape's if you're in the Marlborough area as a better option. Mezcal Tequila Kitchen not so good, overpriced for the quality and quantity. Liked the bartenders though. read more

I felt like I was in time out and it was so dark I couldn't read the menu. 15 minutes later when the waitress came to greet us, I acted like a Karen and asked to relocate to a booth close to a window and other humans. Was on a time crunch, and was worried we'd have to wait but we were seated right away and food came out in a timely manner. Started with a fall themed cocktail. The autumn wind was decent, nothing I would order again but glad I tried it. Very strong flavors. Chips and salsa were great, we devoured those quickly. Burrito was really good. The steak burrito came with a tablespoon size of queso which was so good. I wish they put it inside of the burrito or gave you more! My only complaint is that the booth my friends and I were sitting in had a leaky metal pipe over us. Every few minutes one of us would get dripped on by cold water. Yikes. It was a fun bar atmosphere with the Georgia/Florida football game on which was great background atmosphere. We ate the ceviche which was very good but would be better served in a bowl and with some added salt, the coconut milk didn't really add to the flavor of the shrimp. The least like Mexican food one's ever been presented or ever eaten. If one knows the food this is not it and simply a masquerader for the unknowing and untraveled masses. The masquerade extends to the feel, look and vibe of the restaurant itself, which was far removed from anything Mexican, Hispanic, Latin or otherwise. Basically, it's generic American with some tequila bottles on display. Ooo, it's like we're in Mexico! Their (Chicken) Fajitas were in some type of sauce, definitely not sizzling and nothing like anything you will have expected, or experience titled fajitas... it was a made up concoction with no basis on an any version. No pico (extra $), no beans (extra $), no sour cream (extra $) and only minuscule portions of (bland) rice (flavourless) guacamole and a sorrowful pinch of shredded cheese, plus four small and doughy tortillas. Their tortilla chips were thick (like Doritos) and their salsa didn't taste much different to any store-bought version. Finally, the entire fajita meal was the equivalent of a child's serving so expect to remain hungry. Staff were friendly but inattentive and revisited the table only a couple of times. I have never had a bad time here. The food is consistently delicious. Sure, the flan could use a little work. But everything's lovely. I love their selection of tequila. They have some of the stuff that's actually good enough to have on the rocks. Not just shelf booze. I have also always had a good time. Whether it be with the company with whom I came or people I've met if I was eating at the bar. When you go, it can be a little loud and busy. Mezcal is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The entire kitchen/all of the food items are 100% gluten free which, for someone with Celiac Disease (like myself), is a HUGE win. It is also my favorite place in Massachusetts to get margaritas. They are too good :) I will have to say it is definitely not authentic Mexican food (fried chicken w/ bacon and guava crema tacos or fried calamari tacos are obviously inauthentic/ ridiculously yummy) but the food is absolutely delicious nonetheless. The queso is a 10/10. It is a beautiful restaurant with a stunning tequila display. I have been there more times than I'd like to publicly admit. Will I be going there tonight? Yes. Yes I will. Don't listen to the two-star reviews- some people just can't be satisfied (we all know one). I went for the first time on 7/5/25 and will DEFINITELY be back. The service was fast and the food was incredible! I was blown away by the flavor and depth of each dish. If you like boring, run-of-the-mill Mexican, this place isn't for you! I had a beef taco, Yucca fries, the salmon plate, and the habanero infused margarita. My wife had a steak burrito and my MIL had the taco salad. The guac did not look or taste like it was made fresh. our basket of chips was mostly small broken pieces making it hard to even scoop up salsa or guac. They should never have served those chips. They tasted stale too. My husband loves birria tacos, so he chose the birria burrito. He didn't enjoy it. Decided the burrito fillers aren't necessary and it's hard to dunk a burrito in the broth. The service was okay, but this place serves the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had paired with a pitcher of a very weak margarita for the table. Part of me wondered if there was any tequila in it at all. When I bit into my taco I instantly regretted ordering three. It shouldn't be a struggle to eat a taco. This place rules. Great service and friendly staff. It's always my go to when I'm visiting the DCU Center. I took my 12 year old daughter to WWE Smackdown last night. We parked right around the corner from Mezcal so it was it was clear I wanted to grab dinner here before. We got seated immediately and got our drinks very fast. Our waitress was super fast, efficient and attentive. My daughter is simple and ordered 3 beef tacos with only cheese. I got a single chilli honey chicken taco, and the Macho Man Nachos (a special that they do when wrestling is happening across the street). Everything came out fast and tasted great. I always forget this part - but another cool thing is when you are heading to the center for an event, they will validate your parking at the local garages in the area. A very nice incentive to stop by here when seeing an event. Overall, another great experience here. Popped into this restaurant after a real estate convention at the DCU Center and even though they take reservations, we were seated very quickly after walking in at a cozy, not quite cramped, two-person table in a simple milk chocolate-colored interior. Our waitress was very attentive, professional and friendly and gave us suggestions on certain dishes, always checking in on us if we needed anything. Our eyes zeroed in our in the Guac Flight (small and large portions at a $3 difference) and lit up based on the varieties offered, so we ordered the Mediterranean, Tropical and Street Corn. When it came you can definitely tell they were freshly made based on the chunkiness of the avocados. By far, the Street Corn version was the most flavorful and well-rounded from the fire-roasted corn and heat slight heat of the chipotle aioli. The pineapple and mango chunks in the Tropical Guac brought a certain refreshment and the cashews gave nice contrast to texture but I thought there was a bit more cashews than needed. We ordered the Chipotle Shrimp Burrito Bowl and a trio of tacos with soft corn tortilla - Short Rib, Carne Asada and Spicy Shrimp. The burrito bowl was fairly standard but the shrimp was seasoned and cooked to a nice snap. For the tacos, having the option of how the filling will be held in place was definitely a plus. The Short Rib and Carne Asada stood out more where the former had tender meat balanced by the pickled red cabbage cutting into the fattiness with a firm crunch and the latter was dripping with lip-slurping marinade. Very clean interior adjacent to the nearby Hilton hotel and also very near to a couple parking lots. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you have a hard time making a decision in the area. read more

Very enjoyable! My husband and I stopped by after a long day babysitting our grandson. We sat at the bar and enjoyed specialty cocktails. I had a day of the dead themed cocktail, dead man's hand, with Blanco tequila, orgeat, and Aperol. My husband had a mezcal cocktail. Both were top notch. We were not too hungry so we had 1 taco each. I had the shrimp taco and my husband had the carnitas. They both were excellent. We also ordered some street corn guac which we really enjoyed. Servers/bartenders were super friendly. Second time here today and was able to be seated immediately after arriving. They have a good selection of options for tacos, and the tacos are very filling and more than what you might expect. Honestly, 3 tacos will fill you right up alright. I would say the tacos are pretty good, but perhaps, there's a lot going on and less is more with the toppings. I ordered fried haddock, chili honey fried chicken, short rib, and pulled pork tacos. The haddock was just ok, but I liked the other three quite alright, with the chili honey fried chicken being my favorite, although it might be better as a burrito. I do recommend asking for salsa habanero or salsa verde on the side to up the flavor of your tacos. I also ordered a passion fruit margarita which was pretty standard, so not much to say there. One observation, though, was there were a lot of fruit flies swarming around which really made it annoying to want to eat. I get fruit flies are attracted to food, and whatnot, but I don't typically run into this problem at many places, so just something to keep in mind. I love the bacon ranch guac and the tropical as well. The house guac is of course a great staple. Came in with 6 on a Saturday and were quickly sat and got some margaritas very quickly as well. I ordered the paloma, which was really delicious. Very bubbly and not too sweet. The steak chimichanga was something special. I was hungry so I just went with what my eyes went to on the menu, and I'm glad I did! Incredibly delicious steak seasoned so well in a fried burrito with a sauce that brought me over the edge! It was such a big portion that I had to take half home! Also - it was our friends birthday, so of course we embarrassed him but those churros for dessert were very, very good. Food: we tried everything that was on the menu for restaurant week. To start off we had salsa and chips which the salsa had a bit of spicy which I'm not a huge fan of and was rather watery so I didn't really love it as much. The champechana is similar to perhaps ceviche, but it's cooked shrimp infused with tomato juice but it also wasn't my favorite. It had a lot going on for it to be very watery and bland. The chorizo was better with the cilantro avocado cream with the cheese and meat salted enough. Our entrées were delicious. The chicken was flavored super well with the sauce. The short ribs was also delicious and tender, although I didn't really love the excessive sauce over enchiladas. The desserts were super sweet and actually very overwhelming as there is a lot going on like there's five different things that are incorporated and it probably would've been better if they just simplified it. For example, the fried ice cream had chocolate and strawberry syrup with coconut flakes, mini chocolate sprinkles and whipped cream, which was just packed with straight up sugar. Service: our server was very nice and she checked up on us a couple times to see how everything was going. Ambiance: they just recently moved their building from E. Central St. to where the 99 restaurant used to be. It looks really beautiful and modern inside. I love the green that catches the theme of the restaurant and the display of tequila when you first walk inside, it looks like they took a lot into renovating the place. Location accommodation: is connected to a Starbucks and a hotel but they have plenty of parking and it can be a little bit confusing to get in as there's two ways to get into the restaurant and one way is more like the backside where Starbucks is seen as well. The other side is on the way towards the highway, but not great ways of directing where the main entrances. read more

I liked the chicken quesadilla, but it wasn't even warm. Our waiter was very kind but never refilled our waters. We have been going to Mezcal for many years. Their new spot is amazing and worth the visit just to check it out. The staff there is always spot on and worthy of 5 stars but the food is 3 or 4. How hard can it be to make a chicken fajitas that not overcooked and rubbery. All three tasted exactly the same with different toppings. The barbacoa rice bowl was flavorless. Save your money and go to Chipotle. Ordered two spicy margaritas, they were spicy, but again no flavor. Ordered Shrimp ceviche, they brought out chicken quesadillas. The order was corrected, but the shrimp ceviche too, had no flavor. It was ONE shrimp cut up with a bunch of hominy. Not worth the price at all. The waiter, who was so oblivious, disappeared for so long we had to walk around to find another waiter to ask for our check. Finding any employee proved quite the task. The waiter we did find also disappeared for a while, so we told the hostess to find a way for us to pay our bill or we were leaving without paying. It's worth mentioning, that while sitting at our table the people behind us also complained about their drinks and the length of wait. All in all, expensive imitation food, with terrible service.
