I've been going here for years and this place definitely deserves to be recognized for how good they really are. Overtime, I've had good experiences with the PTs here (like Vanessa, Anna, Stephanie, etc) and I consider it to be one of the best facilities for PT. I have recommended former patients to come here at the office I worked at and have made referrals to Spine and Sports. As Jason Lacanlale works his last few days at Spine and Sports this week, I thought it would be fitting for me to express my gratitude for his good work as the best PT I've ever had by far. After my appointments with him, I always feel significantly better. As a provider myself, I can tell you that I would personally recommend any of my patients and those I know to see Jason. I have had complete confidence in Jason's competence, knowledge, and experience to know how to progress my health to the next level. He has a special way of partnering as a team with his patients. You can sense that he genuinely cares about your health and works especially hard to help you get better. His departure is huge loss to Spine and Sports. But, I know he will be great wherever he ends up. A huge disappointment is that Spine and Sports is undergoing some changes and will no longer be accepting certain insurances, so I will have to look elsewhere. Of note is that this particular facility has very high ceilings and ample space unlike their dublin location that feels very tight and crampy. They also have lots of equipment and various modalities they use for PT that other facilities don't have. Until recently, they have changed their masking guidelines so that it is no longer required since the covid state of emergency has been dropped, in case that may be a concern for you. This is the hidden gem of the PT world. Kevin is absolutely the best when it comes to working your injury. He explains everything and wastes no time getting the work in. If I would have started here after shoulder surgery in 2022, I would have had a better recovery. SOL and Kevin came in late in my rehab game and he was able to get me much further than my last PT place after 2 years of work. I don't normally post reviews but needed to send a big shout out to Kevin. Kevin is amazing! I had my first appointment with him this past Wednesday. He interviewed me to understand my pain points and went to work right away. My physician thought I had spinal injury but I thought my pain came from a 16 mile bike ride. To my surprise, Kevin worked all the targeted areas and went deep-deep in using multiple techniques to help me get better. I could feel the positive effects of his work that same day. I have been going to Spine and sports physical therapy in Livermore for many years pre-and postop surgeries. I absolutely love everyone there. Well, they were bought out by somebody. I was informed yesterday that they would no longer be accepting my insurance effective. 2/1/24. this gives me absolutely no time to find another office without losing several weeks. This place is beyond outstanding. I came here 2 weeks post op after an accident that left me unable to walk with a tibial plateau fracture. I have recieved care at a few different facilities and this is hands down the best physical therapy I have ever recieved. The vibe is positive and encouraging. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and caring. In the beginning of my injury i made it a point to see a few different therapists because everyone has a different style. Greg and Jason L have both been truly instrumental in my recovery by helping me gain strength back and walking again. They pin point specific goals that you want or need met and give you the tools to get there. I started at SSPT in April after months of immobility after an ankle break in October. I was in near constant pain & had lost significant balance, range of motion and strength. For a time I wasn't even sure I would ever fully recover. Today was my last day of PT and I cannot thank Brandon, Kennedy and the rest of the staff enough. They really push you to work hard and address all aspects of your care. Everyone has a positive attitude and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good physical therapists. Wide open space which is nice so you don't feel crowded next to others. Plus a huge gym space was opened next door so that's cool for training and such. I've known one of the therapists many many years, almost ten now, and have seen him through all his business growth while still being down to Earth and a great guy. If you can get squeezed in, Kevin is great. He's the big cheese of the business. He's helped me through a LOT and not just with PT. Just make sure you're communicating with staff clearly at all times. Always make sure you have all policy info like cancellations, time cut off for appointments, etc. Always be informed before entering a new place for physical "torture"! I would HIGHLY recommend coming here!!! I started experiencing REALLY bad migranes since 2019 (as i was finishing my last year of school). It came to the point that even my prescription medication weren't working anymore. I'am so thankful that Nicole took the time get to know me, and see why i was getting migranes as well as where the pain was originating from. When i first started to coming here i had 5-6 migarnes that lasted all day. After going through physical therapy with Nicole for 7 months, I can happily say im down to 1 migrane a week!! The first time I came here I had just had shoulder surgery and the young therapist who was working with me had no clue about anything except basic anatomy. He had never seen my injury which was a class 5 AC joint separation. The post-op therapy for this injury is not brain surgery. You basically treat it similar to a rotary cuff tear but apparently he had no experience with either. After I had to correct him and explain why doing front or lateral shoulder raises with palms down or pinky's up is the fast track to tendonitis at the AC joint or worse, I knew this kid was not well trained. I cut him some slack and told him to study up before our next session. It didn't get any better... he obviously did not do his homework. Session two he attempted to ask for help taping my shoulder; this is another very basic skill that he did not understand. He asked for help from the senior PT. This guy continued to do the worst taping job that I have ever seen in my life. So bad in fact that I made him take his idiotic tape job off, and then I proceeded to teach him and the newbie two different taping techniques... 1st the US standard and then the Australian standard... way basic skills. The worst part was the senior guy was giving me attitude and acting like he knew everything when he obviously didn't know shit. Hey idiot, when you have an AC separation the scapula pulls down and away from the clavicle. You don't tape the clavicle down to the scapula, you tape low to high... scapula goes up to the clavicle to support the weight of the chest and back, and the humerus. And if you don't do proper anchor points your tape job will fail before your patient gets out of the parking lot... that comment was because he tried to tell that anchors were optional. The end result was that I quit coming, found a better therapist group, cash paid, and got my shoulder working again from a PT that new his stuff. My second experience with this company was no better, if not worse. Back issues: Ruptured disc, spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, most likely torn or possibly severely spasmed mid and low back muscles that were and are still palpably balled up... A rude front desk staff that didn't understand why I would want the same therapist each visit instead of tossing me around between multiple PTs. No, all of your PTs are not equal, and it takes awhile to establish trust, especially when a patient is dealing with pain. New hands means new trust needs to be established, and if the patient is not relaxed, their therapy won't be as successful. Also, "notes" can not and do not explain everything that a therapist figures out and remembers from session to session. Tossing people around is very wasteful in regards to the limited time one has with their PT and it is unprofessional. So that was that but, here's the worst part... MY PT FLAT GAVE UP AND QUIT ON ME AFTER ONLY FIVE SESSIONS!!! Day one.... Initial assessment. They stuck me with a pre-grad student who was working on getting his clinical time. Good hands, a good feel for things, and very observant. After his eval, he performed cupping, and Graston techniques along with manually stretching me. He was very aggressive while constantly checking in with me on my pain levels. The results from his one session was an instant increase in mobility and decrease in pain level- down by 60%. Good job! Day two... (new therapist) Received a second initial eval, wasteful as I mentioned before, needed because this was our first meeting and she needed to know what was not in the notes from the previous therapist. Got through that, she seemed like a good listener and empathetic... both good traits for a therapist. She went straight to cupping, then Graston after I asked for it, then a small amount of manual massage, talked about some stretches and very basic strengthening exercises to support the spine that I was already doing on my own. Still, it was an appropriate starting point. Day three... added one new exercise. Asked her to get into my muscles and break up the scar tissue more aggressively, she complied but, not by much. Still I felt like it was helpful and better than nothing. Passed me off to another therapist who had self esteem issues and needed to be told what was going on. She was useless! Day 4... Another student therapist worked on me. I tried to help her with her technique. Day 5... My lazy ass PT said she felt like she couldn't do anything to help me. Well, sorry if you didn't get instant results but my back has been screwed up for a long time. I think that your expectations and your techniques are off and that you have a lot to learn about helping people heal. Conclusion... This place and its staff are a joke. Never trust your recovery to people who expect instant results without working for it! Over half of this staff is fat and out of shape. If they can't take care of their own bodies, how will they take care of you? read more

The first time I went to Spine and Sports Physical Therapy it was an awesome experience! Kevin did my initial assessment and Laura was the most awesome therapist! The second and third time more recently where interns do the assessment, not so much. They now offer crazy therapies that do not help and in my case caused my recovery to completely stall. It seems the focus is shifting to personal training and the physical therapy portion is entirely done by interns. I can no longer recommend. read more

I can't help but wonder if the people not satisfied gave bad reviews because they weren't miraculously cured after one session. I've gone there for various issues, and their staff is fantastic and getting to the root cause of the injury. Just because you have pain in your ankle (for example) doesn't mean the problem is in the ankle. In my case, it was in the hip! I know a lot about how the body works, but they've educated me far beyond what I walked in with. I'm currently going for a bummed elbow, and after a few sessions, I'm noticing a marked improvement. I was in severe pain after my second shot of the Covid vaccine. I lost the mobility of my shoulder and arm. My doctor sent me to physical therapy in their practice. I didn't feel any improvements after 4 appointments. So, I went to Mr. Gardner at Spine & Sports Physical Therapy. They helped me with my back injury 6 years ago. After my second visit, I saw a big difference. I can sleep at night, and I can move my shoulder and arm. I am back to my normal life. I would give them six stars if there was an option. read more

I was going to the office in Dublin, but because I live in Livermore I decided to try this one. Dublin is great, wonderful physical therapists. But livermore is more convenient. My first appointment was with Kevin. Unfortunately he pushed me a little too hard, and had some issues in my sugary area, I don't blame him, I didn't vocalize how irritated the area can get, and I thought it wouldn't be a problem. Yesterday I saw a new PT, Anna. She is training, because she's new, but oh my gosh. She was amazing. My issue is cyatic nerve pain. It's chronic and sometimes keeps me from being able to sleep-as it goes all the way down my foot. She "worked" those muscles, which can be ticklish because it's so tight. She didn't tickle at all, and she had an amazing pressure, not everyone can get into my gluts!! As she was showing me some stretches and exercises, pelvic tilts, and other things, she showed me appropriate ways to exercise core muscles at work without looking weird or provocative (lol)...then I see Laura from Dublin! Laura is great, she remembers everyone issues, and she also cares about issues that don't always pertain to why you're at physical therapy. I was SO excited to see Laura is on the Livermore team a few days a week as well!! She will check in with the patients she's works with before, even if they aren't her patients that day!! I've seen a few other PT's but Anna and Laura stand out the most! They print out the exercises and stretches you did that day too, so you remember what the heck you did! Well Dublin does that, Livermore Hasn't so far...I'm assuming I should ask next visit!! They also accept alameda alliance. Very clean office, each time I go I learn something new. And my gluts/nerve/foot/leg (this pain goes from my gluts down my leg to the arch of my foot...it totally sucks!!) feel great today!! I stretched at work like I was suppose to! Well I have had pain in my right shoulder for a few years now. Went to the dr and they want to give me pills. A friend recommended that I go to spine and sport in Livermore (from Castro valley only a 24 min drive) I started coming a few months ago and the P.T.'s there have my shoulder felling better than it's felt in years. I came in to Spine and Sports looking to recover from several lower back injuries that kept reoccurring. My first couple of sessions were with Vanessa, who did a great job of understanding where my pain was originating from and what we were going to have to do in order to get back to normal. I started working with Brandon after a couple weeks and couldn't have asked for more out of him. I loved that he never avoided the smaller problems or details like many other physical therapists will do, which helped me gain a lot of trust. Aside from manual therapy, we did a lot strength training and other exercises that helped me build a stronger foundation in order to decrease the chances of a similar injury happening again in the future. I had a 2 year old issue that kept getting worse preventing me from normal activities. I had been to doctors and other PT's that recommended general stretches and exercises as a matter of course, not really taking the time to focus on my specific problem. Each course would result in no change or worsen my condition. At SSPT, Kevin did a thorough evaluation taking time to listen and asking questions that allowed me to explain out my issue. Brandon and Kevin treated my issue over a few weeks, adjusting my therapy as needed. After two other unsussecsful PT courses elsewhere, I finally have relief. I think what sets this clinic apart is that there is a considerable time spent in contact with the area that needs help. Others have spent their time on heat and stim, and asking you to do exercises there, but maybe 5 minutes of a PT actually working on your body. Here, most of the time is spent actually with a PT working with/on you. I've been to a number of PT clinics over 20 years. In my experience, the body work is where help happens. On a practical note, there is always parking, it's easy to access, and the facility is clean and fresh and all of the staff is nice. read more
