250 classes today!!! :-)…read more I joined in November '23, and it's been quite a journey. Day by day, week by week, month by month, I have seen incredible progress. The way the classes and challenges are set up constantly shows your progress. Much of my transformation is also because of the coaches [Elliot, Jon, Mel, & Sonia]. They are there to answer any questions you have (and I have too many) and are always up for a discussion. They are patient, have high energy, and will go above & beyond to see you succeed. I love the office staff; they are also invested in your success & cheer you on at every step. I love OTF Montclair, and I cannot thank them enough. I can't wait to update this review with a photo of my 1000-class sign.

I typically train with Sonia or Elliot, they actually work with you to ensure your posture and form are correct and are constantly walking around the room giving helpful tips. This is what Real Trainers do! This review is specifically for the other 3 trainers I've trained with multiple times and feel like it's actual fraud saying they can "train or coach" the class. "Coach" Jon literally walks around just shouting things out and spends the majority of his time standing in front of the computer screen, he will never correct form. Honestly he seems to have just been hired to fill a coach spot because in no way does he coach and there's zero chance he's an actual trainer. He's very lazy and literally just talks over the speaker, that's it! It's really a joke at this point allowing him to "coach" a class. On to Nik, I've taken a couple classes with coach Nik and maybe had a slightly better experience but again, no form correcting just walking around and honestly just a lack of energy, kinda seems bothered or doesn't care to be there. Lastly coach Casey, I think she tried to have some better energy but she does not even do the weight floor exercises correctly when showing us what we are supposed to be doing. Her form is so off, just walks around the room, I will say she's friendly but other than that she's not correcting or helping with form, giving zero tips and maybe just has good energy which isn't the worst. It's sad we pay so much for each class even with the unlimited and have unqualified trainers running the classes. Outside of Coach Sonia and Coach Elliot they've hired random "coaches" with zero real experience but that's how Orange Theory seems to work now. I'd like them to show us their qualifications or actually Train the Coaches to correct form, if you're just allowing us to use your equipment and workout for an hour without reaching us anything why charge for trainers who can't themselves train or do anything to benefit us. There used to be so many more real trainers, now they just hire anyone.

When I first started, I was dealing with a lot of pain, partly because I wasn't properly engaging some of my major muscle groups. She was incredibly patient and intentional, guiding me step by step to activate those muscles in the right order. That foundation has made a huge difference in how my body feels and performs. What really sets her apart is how personalized everything is. She consistently tailors my workouts based on what my body needs-- whether I'm recovering from an injury or preparing for something specific like a surf trip. In buddy or trio sessions, she shows up fully prepared with customized programming for each person. It's clear she puts a lot of thought and care into every session. She's knowledgeable, attentive, and unbelievably prepared. She truly doesn't miss. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Branden has been instrumental in helping me achieve my fitness goals, and the results have been great! What sets Branden apart is his personalized approach to training. He took the time to understand my goals, limitations, and preferences, and tailored each session to maximize my progress. His expertise in fitness and nutrition was evident in every workout plan and dietary advice provided. Not only did Branden push me to new limits, but he also ensured that each exercise was performed with proper form and technique, minimizing the risk of injury. His motivation and positive attitude was contagious, making every session enjoyable and something I looked forward to. Thanks to Branden, I achieved my goals of loosing weight, building muscle, improving endurance and have never felt better. I am stronger and feel confident. I recently spent a year at equinox in Berkeley and had some sessions with a personal trainer and I can say that Elite Fitness's small group training is just as amazing for strength training! The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable, the space is set up perfectly for everyone to have enough space in their group classes, & the environment is very friendly/ community oriented. But most importantly, I did not feel out of place as a person of color which is HUGE for me. I find gyms intimidating for solo workouts but wanted a true strength training program that was also supportive and a bit low key without compromising on the efficiency and effectiveness of the training program. Elite Fitness has absolutely delivered!!!

While my appointment went well, the standard insurance paper work for a cortisone shot (the most common intervention other than pain meds) was rejected, and no one from the office followed up. There were no follow up notes after my appointment for next steps. My primary seemed very surprised that this routine procedure was denied which makes me suspect that they didn't do the minimal paperwork required. When you call 'the office', you reach someone at the main switchboard who presumably passes on a message which may or may not be returned. In my case, it was not even though I requested that they resubmit the paperwork. Keep in mind that many many people reaching out to a pain management doctor are in excruciating, debilitating pain. When I finally went in, I was barely able to walk and had to lie down during the appointment due to the extreme pain. Currently, I'm repeatedly leaving messages at the switchboard attempting to try to get my cortisone shot months after all medical staff I met with agreed that it was necessary. If you are in an acute, debilitating situation with your pain, I'd recommend you seek someone who runs a more responsive office.
