The entire staff at Blackwell's has always made me feel like my business, as small as it is, is important. They have also helped during holidays when fuses have blown or, in one case, all the electricity to one side of my house went out! Blackwell's prices are reasonable and their honesty is unquestionable. So I purchased a new Tesla Model Y - it's incredible - and wanted a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in my garage to charge overnight. I contacted five electricians on Yelp, and three electricians recommended on Tesla's "Find Electrician" website. Three of the eight electricians didn't even respond to my request. Of the remaining five, four electricians requested I send pictures of the panel, the location of the desired outlet, and the path for the electrical wire. I'm a homeowner that's DIY'd minor electrical issues in the past, but I was only guessing the proper way to run a new circuit. I did my best and sent pictures and videos of where I thought the new circuit would go, and the electricians replied with estimates. CMP was different. I received a phone call from dispatch to schedule an appointment where a licensed electrician would visit my house before providing an estimate. That's right, the old-fashioned way. On the day of the meeting, I opened my garage door, and CMP's electrician had just arrived five minutes before the scheduled time. It turned out that the electrician was Alex, a CMP managing partner. During his quick visit, Alex inspected the electrical panel, surveyed the path for the wire, and took pictures and measurements to provide an accurate estimate. Alex gave me options I didn't even know were available to install heavier gauge wire now for an easier and cheaper upgrade to a Tesla Wall Charger later. He also answered my questions on load calculations, wire gauge specs, and other electrical issues. Before departing my residence, Alex advised he would send an estimate on Tuesday. On Tuesday, I received CMP's estimate, and it pleasantly surprised me that their quote was in the middle of the six quotes I received. I thought CMP's estimate would be astronomically high because Tesla recommended them, and Alex spent time at my residence instead of quoting over email like the other companies. That same night, I received a call from Alex asking if I had questions. My only question was, "how soon can you start." Alex provided me a start date soon, explained how many electricians would work on the job and how long it would take. I gave Alex a narrow window to arrive at my house on Saturday morning between 8, and 8:30 am because I needed to leave by 8:30 am for my son's Little League game. At 8:15 am, Alex arrived with the county permit in hand, which he taped to my window before starting the job. I think it's essential to note Alex had two other electricians with him, enough to complete the job quickly in the time allotted. They did the work exactly as planned in four hours, and Alex walked me through the work that he did. It was quality work, and they left my house cleaner than it was when they started. I highly recommend CMP for all your electrical needs. In today's day and age, it's rare to find honest tradespeople with fair prices and quality work, especially during the pandemic, when many people no longer want to work. CMP is going into my contact list for all of my future electrical needs. For other Tesla owners or soon-to-be owners. The NEMA 14-50 charges my 2021 Model Y at 29 miles per hour. I set it up to charge during Dominion's Super Off-Peak time, which starts at midnight and costs $.10 per kWh. For my daily driving, I start every day with an 80% charge (no reason to go over 80%) and a warm car in the morning. My electricity cost about 1/5th of the cost of gas for a similar gas vehicle. Installing a Level 2 charger was a simple decision.

The price was also right. Then, at the end of November, we didn't have any heat. The guy came out promptly and fixed the heat. But within 24 hours, it stopped working. He came back and said that the inside unit and the thermostat weren't talking to each other. He then took out the owners manual and did some adjustments and said it would be fine. It seemed to be fine, until Christmas Eve. The heat stopped working again. He came out December 26 and did some work and got it working again. in the meantime, I got my power bill and noticed it was about $100 higher. He said it was because it was cold outside. he then proceeded to tell me that my HVAC unit was very old and needed to be replaced. It's only seven years old. He then quoted me a price of $8000. I contacted a different company. The second guy came out and looked at everything and said he felt sorry for me and wouldn't even charge me the trip charge for coming out. He said this was the worst work he had ever seen in 25 years of being in business. he said the guy cut all the wires in the HVAC and rewired it. He said he had no idea what this guy had done other than it's not right. at this point, I felt pretty stuck with VS. I waited until the following month to see if there would be an elevated electricity bill. My January bill was almost $200 more than my several of my neighbors. I called him again and he said it was very cold and that's normal. I told him the heat that was coming out was almost always very warm, and that means my emergency heat was running a lot more than it should. he kept telling me this was OK. I kept telling him my is not in line with my neighbors, I had mine set at 67. My neighbors had it set at 72. He said it didn't matter what I set the house to because it should be the same. Which I know, is completely not correct. I asked him to come out again and see why the emergency heat was running all the time. He did some rewiring and said it would be better. He did not charge me for this visit. But, a few hours after he left, I noticed that HVAC had been running nonstop. I texted him and asked why. He said it was OK to have it run nonstop. He said he disconnected the emergency heat. Even though the outside temperature last night was above 40, my HVAC has been running for eight hours nonstop. do not use this guy ever. I had been holding off writing this review until I some sort of resolution. apparently, nothing has been resolved. And now I need to call a second company and come out and fix what he's messed up.
