Megan from Sky NRG provided a detailed quote and patiently answered my many questions about the different REC panels on the market. I ultimately chose Sky NRG based on my interaction with her and positive reviews on Google and Reddit. I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Based on the quality of work by Juan and the overall experience with Sky NRG, I opted to have them handle the panel replacement rather than seeking other bids. Juan completed the job, and I'm pleased with the result. We received Permission To Operate (PTO) from Dominion Energy on October 28, and since then, we've been consistently exporting energy to the grid. I'm delighted with Sky NRG. They never tried to upsell, were always responsive to my questions, and offered a competitive price lower than other bids. Megan and Robert continue to stay involved, and I am confident about their prompt attention to address any future issues. Highly recommended!

However, the service warrantee expired and the servicer, Omnidian, would not service even though I offered to pay for it. After searching for a solar provider that would actually do repairs and not have ridiculous pricing (one provider wanted to charge a $500 "truck usage" fee, in addition to an hourly rate), I found Revolution Solar who offered a fair and reasonable hourly, I first spoke with Irvin in Sales who immediately connected me with Brian in Operations. Brian arranged for Jose to come out to do the repair. Jose was on time and courteous. Unfortunately, the microinverter manufacturer sent the wrong cable, so the microinverters could not be replaced that day. Jose ordered a replacement cables for me. When they arrived, Jose came back out, again on time, and replaced the microinverters in about an hour. I cannot recommend Revolution Solar enough. When I buy my next house, I will call Revolution Solar directly to arrange for solar panel installation.

I wanted to be sure I had time to reflect on this encounter before sharing. The second star is only for the employee who took my name out of their customer database as requested. We had considered buying solar panels for our home, so we used the contact information from signs posted in our neighborhood to learn more about the process and to get a quote. The salesperson contacted me to get more information from us, including a recent copy of our NOVEC bill. We also set up an appointment after this call. I did not realize that this appointment would be an hour-long sales pitch inside our home. Most contractors we worked with during this time would meet with us outside to minimize direct contact during the pandemic and could efficiently walk through the work to be done. However, the salesperson assured me he was fully vaccinated and we wore masks during the meeting. He provided some print-outs of our property to show where the panels would go and projected energy costs in the future. During this conversation, he asked me no fewer than three times where my husband was and clearly expressed his displeasure at the fact he wasn't there, insisting I wouldn't be able to adequately convey the information he was presenting to me. Each time I grew more and more frustrated. I'm a teacher, so I convey information to others for a living. Additionally, the cost of the solar panels would have come out of my bank account, as I was the one who had budgeted for this project. However, he made it very clear that he felt I could not understand his sales pitch without my husband there, nor would I be capable of making the decision to purchase the system with my own money. Afterward, I discussed the interaction with my husband. Ultimately, we decided not to get the panels based on where they would need to be placed on the roof. However, even if we did want to get the panels, I would not have gone through this salesperson. When I replied to his follow-up text about our decision, he tried to pressure us into changing our minds to the point where I had to block his number from my phone. Again, his texts stated that part of the reason for not moving forward with the sale must have been because I did not give my husband a perfect sales pitch. When another employee called to follow up about our interest in the solar panels a few months later, I explained what had transpired and how I felt insulted by the misogyny throughout these interactions. I asked to be taken off their list and my wishes were respected. (I truly appreciate that employee for listening and acknowledging what I had experienced.) I took the money I was going to use for the solar panels and bought a motorcycle for myself instead!
