I have been researching solar companies for the last 2 years. I decided on Solar Max because they would work with my reverse mortgage. It turned out they are a great SALES company with no integrity. The initial installation went smoothly but things started to pop up after the installation. First, they were supposed to install an extension so I could run a generator should the Duke System go down. After the installation, they told me that my breaker box was maxed out and would cost me an extra $2,100 to replace it. It would have been nice to know when their Solar Max electrician came to inspect my home BEFORE they did the installation. The second thing is the most egregious, The salesman said I would receive a 30% tax break when I filed my taxes. I told him that I was retired with a fixed income. He promised my payments would not exceed a certain amount as long as I gave the tax rebate back to the lender. However, he did not mention that as a retired person, with a fixed income and no W2, there would be no tax rebate. I did not find this out until I filed my taxes with my tax attorney. No W2, no rebate equals a Higher Monthly Electric Bill, an additional $100/month. I called and spoke with the Operations Manager twice. He promised they would get to the bottom of this and return my call. Two months later, and no callback. If I could rate it no stars, I would. I strongly suggest you find a reputable company. Solar Max is an excellent SALES company. However their professionalism, integrity, and customer service could not be WORSE. If you are looking for a great price and frustration that will make you WANT to pay triple for another average company, Solarmax is for you. After trying to be proactive and flexible- reaching out via multiple emails, texts, phone calls, I still can not get an expected date of completion. I can not get a single employee to deliver on a commitment, to provide information on my project in the rare event I can get someone to respond. I'm a utility professional and Electrical Engineer with 20 years in the power industry and I have been nothing but understanding until now. I've only had this level of frustration dealing with Bank of America or Comcast. I chose to double my existing Solar Max installation and had the new solar panels on my home for over a month. I'm still getting HIGH electric bills from the utility, and the generator that was part of my expansion (at $70k) is still not operational. SolarMax did send my bank a notice of completion so they could get paid, Even though they were not done. My bank contacted me to start repayment on a project for something that I don't even know if it will be completed. This is how they treat their repeat business and high price point customers. DO NOT USE SolarMAx. Throw your money out with the trash / burn it/ donate to a charitable organization, or whatever your pleasure. BUYER BEWARE!! read more

I was sitting having breakfast and all of a sudden I am hearing footsteps and moving all around on my rooftop. I looked out in the driveway and I didn't see a van or anything, so I went back and continued my breakfast. Then it got to be too much so I went outside and I saw the panel truck and John was just finishing up his inspection. I introduced myself and asked why I wasn't told about this. He said that he very rarely says anything to anybody. But what he doesn't realize is is people have weapons down here and they do not expect to see anybody on their property that they have not invited or had an appointment with. He told me that my roof was fine and that it had passed inspection. I then took him inside and told him and showed him how my Microwave was damaged. I shared with him a video that I took Saturday morning. I told him that ArapriciI also had taken some still shots of the microwave. I can't say enough how this company has taken such good care of me. John was also incredibly nice and he didn't just fluff me off when I showed him the problem and damage with my microwave. ​​​​​​​​ read more

Solar Max is a company that is NOT customer service oriented. They make you buy their solar panels in order to to install solar batteries, even though you already have existing panels. The bad part of this is that they DO NOT get a permit, leaving you at risk to have to remove everything they installed on if. Nothing is inspected. They do not test what they've done in front of the customer. Our system was not wired correctly and did not perform like it was supposed to. They refuse to make it right at their expense and want to charge us more. This company is all about making money and NOT providing a quality functioning system. If I could give them a negative number I would, they are racist, they take advantage of people that do not speak English, and they never get back to you when you actually need them!!! DO NOT GO WITH THIS SOLAR COMPANY! They do not cancel when the costumer doesn't want to proceed with the installation! They give you 3 days to cancel but they don't answer and nobody gets back to you during that period and when you ask for proof they are rude and hang the phone on you!!! Excuse my language but the salesman gave me such a bullshit story i believed him. He promised me the world for 39 solar panels on my roof my electric bill would only be 10-15 dollars a month and i would be receiving a huge check from my electric company for overage. Well I haven't had a electric bill that was under 100 dollars a month since install and between my electric and my payment for the solar panels its more than my electric was before solar. Numerous and i mean numerous calls to the salesman and company with not a one phone call back. No service after the sale. I advise people to stay far very far away from this company. This company makes allot of promises they don't keep, they don't communicate, they fail to mention important information and a year later have yet to get any resolution to our generator issue and now we've paid for a generator we don't have. After many emails and calls still have not heard ANYTHING. This was a mistake made by our salesperson that realized his mistake but did nothing to fix it. So now here we are with a generator that might run a fan..... When we specified we wanted a WHOLE HOME GENERATOR. We said this at the consultation. Since where we live it takes forever to get power after a hurricane. Worst company every. Biggest mistake ever. Save yourself the head ache and go find another company! read more

I worked with Solar Max and especially their representatives Yael and LeeAnn. They were very knowledgeable, professional, and answered all my questions and concerns. They provided me with a no hassle proposal, not like many of the other companies, mainly the out of state actors. This company offers an outstanding warranty and provided me with other options to decrease my energy consumption before trying to sell me solar. I got a New A/C, a New roof and a New Solar System for basically the same thing the power company was taking from us. Most companies are concerned about what will help make them the most money. Find another company. The one star is for the products (which they have no control over, thankfully) and their contracted installation techs, who were efficient and professional. The remainder of the experience was horrible. The sales process was quick, but poorly documented (make sure that you save the hand drawings that the sales guy makes). Installation only took 3 days, however, once the panels were installed (1/3/21) it took over 3 months until they were operational (4/16/21). This was due to many factors: two city inspections because SolarMax had not provided the correct paperwork, and 3 applications to the power company because SolarMax had not completed the application correctly once, and failed to send the application fee for another. Add to this blatant untruths ("I will email those to you today", and "The check is in the mail". No really. One of their supervisors actually said that. Hello 1986). Combined, it took us contacting an attorney and a local TV station to get the panels activated. I'm a bit scared about warranty service...the Enlighten app that owners get access to hasn't updated in 13 hours. When I called SolarMax (because it looks like my panels aren't working), I was told that, "I see your system is working fine. Have you logged out and back in?" At least their software support advice is only 20 years old. All in all, this is FL. There are hundreds of solar installers. Find another one. read more
