I'm honestly extremely disappointed and someone needs to hear about this. I have used this company twice with absolutely nothing short of raving experiences. Signed up for the Safeguard Savings Plan to cover A/C, Electrical and Plumbing. On Saturday, my entire A/C unit went out! And I came home to my indoor temp 95°. With kids and dog, it was terrible. No one could sleep upstairs. I called the service line, requested emergency services with the understanding of the after hours fee. When you have no A/C, you'll pay anything for comfort. Was told a technician would reach out to me. NOTHING! Next day, I called again, same thing, and it was a robotic answering service. It has been a full 48 hours and Monday being a business day, and I never received a phone call from a technician. If I could get a refund on my Annual Savings Program, I would. We need to replace our hot water heater and wanted to upgrade to tankless. Home Service Heroes gave us 3 options. While working to install the unit it was found that we would need to upgrade our electrical panel. The electrical supervisor came to oversee and explain why it was needed. The second day another pair of technicians worked from 9 AM - after 9 PM to install the panel and get everything up and running. All the technicians were professional, friendly and efficient. A/C went out because of bad breakers. I had to get emergency after hours service. Company sent a tech (nice guy); from Brandon. Shows up after an hour or so, and I told him in advance what he needed to get to complete job (I didn't have experience doing it). Gives me an estimate off the bat for over $1,000 to change TWO breakers worth about $65. When I complained and said "no", he suddenly came up with a new revised price of $549!!! I went forward reluctantly because we had no A/C and it was night time. Took him about 20 minutes to make the repair with me holding a flashlight and testing things for him. Incredible RIP OFF!!! DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! They are obviously out to rip off people for a quick repair. And to do it when people are in a dire circumstance is just not right. read more

This is about the sixth time I have called Electric Today to tend to issues in my home. My experience with them has always been excellent. The service is prompt, knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. Today I had the pleasure of working with Chris and Charlie. It was an elaborate four-part job and they completed all the work to my satisfaction. They provided me with a written estimate and stuck to that cost, even though they did a bit more work. They completed a coil cleaning and replaced a capacitor. However, the capacitor was not mounted properly. It was just laid on the other wires in the original cardboard box with the feed wires running directly from it. I would've expected that they at least mount it inside of the holster, as the original had been. read more

The first thing you need to know about this company is that they do not charge hourly - they charge by the job. I thought that would be a good thing because the electrician won't drag their feet to rack up more fees. Turns out, not so much. More on this later. Another thing you should know is they don't charge for an estimate. All they charge you is a fuel fee for coming out to your house. $12 or $15, I think, which is much better than the $60-$80 other places will charge you for an estimate (though most of them will also roll that into the fee if you use them so that you don't end up paying for the estimate and the services). On the other hand, Electric Today charges you the fuel fee regardless of whether or not you use them. My experience here was mixed. I called them up on a Wednesday and they offered me an appointment the following day. However, I asked them for a Friday appointment instead, and they gave me that Friday from 10-12 and told me I would hear from the electrician on Friday with a more specific ETA. Friday, 12:15, rolls around and I haven't heard from anyone nor has anyone showed up, so I called. Turns out, the person I spoke to 2 days prior never actually put my appointment in the system. Some people would call that a sign and to move on, but I was convinced their pricing model was the best option. After all, if I went with another company and didn't like their prices, then I am automatically starting at the $70 or so for the estimate, plus whatever else My Electric would charge. That's how they get you. Anyway, I did call a couple of other places to see if they could do same day appointments. When they couldn't, I called My electric back and scheduled an appointment for the following Friday. This time, everything went as planned. I needed 2 services - a new wall switch for a light/ceiling fan fixture and a new security light installed outside. I was advised the total charge would be about $180. I had no idea if this was a good price, but I did know that if I said no, then I would have to get someone else out there and would inevitably end up using that other company, even if they were more expensive, because otherwise I would have to pay the estimate from company B and the $180 to my electric plus another fuel charge. Therefore, I said yes and hoped the work would take 2-3 hours to justify the charge (I had no where to be). Unfortunately, the work took under an hour, which means I effectively paid $180/hour for an electrician. Chris was great - I like efficient people who get work done right the first time with minimal hassle and time - but $180/hour is highway robbery. I know, it is my fault for saying yes, but where do they come off charging those prices for work that only takes a short amount of time? So, I had a poor customer service experience with my first appointment and got ripped off with my second appointment. Lesson learned. And again, this is not a bad review of the service itself. Chris would get all 5 stars, but the company he works for would only get 1 or 2 if it weren't for him. Hence the 3 stars. read more

I own a gaming company and have never gotten a bad review, because I do what I say I'm going to do, which is not what this company does. I should've listened to gut and went with someone else in the first place, especially after I read the reviews about Electric Today. I called and scheduled an appointment yesterday and spoke with an individual who had to be driving ( from the background noise ). I asked him about running some Cat 6 cable for me in my attic. He said " We can have someone out there tomorrow (which is today June 12 2019) between 1:00 and 3:00 pm". I was ecstatic because they were able to do it so soon. I took off work to make sure I would be here when they arrived. 3:00 passed and I never received a phone call, so I called them. A young lady answered the phone only to tell me that my appointment was never put in the books and was I sure I had the right company (1st dumb question) Then she had the audacity to ask me if they could come out tomorrow around the same time to do the job, which means I would have to take off work again. I almost cussed her out for being an idiot, so to keep from doing that, I just hung up in her face. I will be posting this on my community website and the 8 other community websites where my military buddies live. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! Sunday evening my a/c stopped cooling. We pay $10/month to electric today for them to be on call to resolve electric and a/c issues. We called them right away. Although we called Sunday around 11am, they could not send anyone out until the next day. Monday their tech came out, checke the system and said our compressor died and we could either repair or replace. Repair would be $2500, replacement anywhere within $5000 and $6000. Since we had also purchased an extended home warranty I contact the extended home warranty. They placed me in contact with another A/C company who came out the very next day (Tuesday), check the system, found the compressor had been disconnected, connected the compressor and the unit started cooling immedeatly. My A/C issue was fixed in 15 minutes or less. There was no trying to sell me a new unit or extensive repairs. I do not know if the compressor had been disconnected prior to Electric today coming out or if it was disconnected by their tech, what I do know is the tech failed to properly diagnose the issue and focused more on trying to sell me on something that I did not need. read more

We had them install recessed lighting in our living room and replace three outlets . They did a good job and were very nice and on time. The price was very reasonable and they offered a military discount, which we appreciated. However, they made a mess and didn't use any drop cloths or cover the furniture. I would have loved it if they had told me that they don't do that and I would have done it myself. They did sweep up but there was a lot of dust on everything. Electric Today installed new A/C system end of April 2018 - it has had problems since install - every couple of months they are visiting my home if not sooner. Each technician that comes out has a different theory. Unit had major wiring problems which kept shorting out unit, coils have been replaced after one year & now they want to replace again, blower motor has been replaced, unit has continually had problems with freezing up & dripping in hallway, evaporator motor replaced along with fan control board, the one excuse I get for a number of the service calls is the drain line is clogged up - oh lets face it I got a dud so instead of saving money I am paying thru thru the nose & I am retired so not sure where the money is going to come from. Electric Today has just bought time so they can charge for each service call from now on. If I could give "No Stars" I would certainly do so. Not happy & pursuing other avenues. read more

First I want to say that the actual service was done properly and quickly. I scheduled them to come to my home to install 3 outdoor motion lights. I had purchased new lights and needed them to take down the old lights and install the new ones. The total time on the job was 45 minutes of which less than 30 minutes was doing the work. Again, the job was done correctly. Then they gave me the bill . . . $330 for the job + $49 dispatch fee and all for less than one hour's work!!! I highly recommend NOT calling this coming. Last Wed, I had Electric today come out because my microwave tripped my breaker twice on two different occasions. I left it off until the electrician came. The electrician proceeded to try to trip it by turning off an on my microwave and other items attached to that circuit. He never tested the breaker, but deemed in my new ( less than 2 years old microwave was the reason. Before I spent another 500 dollars on a brand new microwave, I called the company. They said it was most likely not the microwave and asked about the breaker. Since it hadn't happened again, I e-mailed Electric Today asking about a service fee when they diagnosed it wrong. It's almost a week later , and still no reply. On Saturday night it went dark. Since the add said you can text I texted the next morning at 5:30 , then after 9 am, with no response. I finally called and they said the earliest they could get someone to look at it was Tuesday afternoon ( so I was going to be left with no stove or microwave to cook dinner). I decided to see if I could get someone to fix it that day- and I did. It was easily and breaker as the switch on it was very flimsy. I called again this morning to let a manager know of my experience to see if they could refund the 59 dollars because turning a microwave on and off a few times, shouldn't be that much. I was told they would call me back when they were available. 4 hours later still no response, so hence the reviews and contacting the better business bureau. Very good company to go through for electrical work. I called and had them come out to replace a cloth wire in my home. Little did I know that was not my only concern. I recently bought a home and had a home inspector inspect the home before I bought it. Well he didn't do a very good job. David from electric today had come by and looked through my electrical and found a lot of bad stuff that didn't get caught by the inspector. He was very professional and nice. He broke down everything and explained what he can do to help fix the major things. So I had him replace the cloth wire and fix all my double tapped breakers. He was on the job quick and knew exactly how to fix it. If only I could rate above 5 stars I would. The people that answer the phone calls are also sweet hearts. Every time i called them about something, they're always there to help and are just so nice.
